  • With the clutch pedal fully down my 96 civic hb will sometimes lunge forward when I try to start it--I then have to "pump" the clutch pedal a few times for it not to "stick" then it will start. Can someone diagnose this annoyance.

  • Why didn't you just have the flywheel resurfaced for $30 at NAPA?

  • Where's all the black shit?

  • did the slave cylinder small tube went around the hole engine to the master cylinder?? and the shift linkage how was that connected to the linkage of your first video??? was it like sideways or something??

  • 0:42 seconds makes me crack up everytime.

  • The friction part spins around the hub and the springs compress. Its an nvh thing.

You should have seen my clutch disc after it went out. Two of the springs broke into pieces and wedged themselves into the pressure plate prongs. I think it was because my throwout bearing was bad and I forced it into gear anyways.

  • ima replace my clutch disk and pressure plate soon but im thinking of getting a performance disk tht have 6 springs instead of 4 like da regular disks!!! is it gonna work as good or better??? will i have to replace something else??? im i making the right decision??? thx...

  • lol i like how u worded that lol wheres this black shit

  • The clutch on my Ford Escort XR3I 1986 is really hard to push in or release. This makes it very difficult to do a hill start. Can u guys plz tell me what might be wrong with it and what i can do? Plz help

  • How long did this replacement take?

  • OMG! you annihilated that disk! there's nothing left to have the clutch engage! lol but props on the video man, thanks for getting into detail with it.

i have a 1997 honda civic, i recently re-built my engine, and got cheap and didnt replace the clutch! that being said its my own fault for not changing it.

the clutch makes alot of noises now, just got my new one in the mail today so im gonna put it on, thanks for the video.

  • I have a 95 ford escor, do I need to take out both axel to install the new clutch.

  • how manys hours did it take you, from start to finish

  • 3:11 Damn dude, you DID get sunburnt didn't you!!

Mad props to Dave as well!!!!!

    Thanks for the vid!

  • thanks mate. hope it could help. and yeah, if you go to elephant butte, dont forget your sunblock!!!!

  • LMAO

    Will do!

I'll try not to do too many donuts either! (Heee Heee Heee). Seriously though, thanks to your vid I think I'm gonna try and swap MY clutch too....

I've had the kit for a while but I didn't want to go in "Over my head". I've got a real old girl (81 Accord) and her clutch has been starting to go..... Thankfully I can't drive her right now anyway! (Due to bullshit smog laws here in California).

I'll be damned if I let her rust away though, she's still in great shape!

  • ok that 'spine' (forgot the name too) you mentioned at 5:00 is that actually connecting to the flywheel or the clutch disc?

  • it connects to the friction disk. the end rest in the pilot bearing on the flywheel

  • Nice video! About 95% correct. The springs in the disc help to obsorb engine power pulses and smooth driveline shock loads. The grooves on the disc are designed to allow dust and gasses to escape the contact area.

  • Thanks :)

  • btw, i like this video bcuz i just bought a used honda on ebay....oh yeah, i CAN spell

  • Great video. My 94 honda is having problems as well. It makes a loud scratching noise while disengaging the clutch from a stop to first gear. But on the freeway it runs great. This only happens when I stop and try to take off. Do you know if it's the clutch or transmission?? Thanks

  • hmm, i worked on one accord that had the clutch so far out of adjustment, when i pushed the clutch all the way in, the fingers on the pressure plate were rubbing agains the damper springs on the friction disk. so even when the clutch was not pressed, there was still pressure on the pressure plate. so the clutch was always slipping. guys clutch gave out in under 3 months because of this.

  • @jmorcivic Know it was a year ago but it is the throw out bearing that is causing the screeching. Replace all the parts of the clutch including the rear main seal. When the throw out bearing goes it is best to replace the whole clutch assembly.

  • welded a lot without sleeves? :)

  • how much you pay for the kit and has it gave you any problems, get back to me thanks

    =)

  • cant recall. think about 120 plus 70 for a new flywheel. Car ran perfect, I only had it for about 3-4 months after that video. Sold it.

  • the best clutch for my civic was a spec clutch.

  • shift forks are what engage your gears, the big long thing you pointed to was the clutch release lever

  • Excellent Bro !!

  • damn you are funny lol

  • Oh how I lol'd at your old clutch.

Great video man, thanks! That's a lot of info...

  • Glad you enjoyed the video :D

  • hi mate..nice video. I have a civic too and right now i am in the process of replacing the clutch..i have already put the new clutch and pressure plate on, but i am finding it a little difficult to put the gearbox back on the engine...would appreciate if you could give me some tips..

  • I had 2 guys plus myself. We had one guy booting it and the other two shaking and twisting it. Be sure NOT to tighten down the bolts until the tranny is seated right to the engine, or you will mess something up. Good Luck.

  • thanks mate...

  • Damn! You TORCHED that clutch! Nothing left on it!

Hey thanks for posting, it's nice to see the whole process.

  • :D Glad you liked the video
