So now it looks like Michael Bryant is going to write a book so he can PROFIT from the killing of Mr. Shepard. It was not enough that after killing Darcy, Bryant immediately hired a PR company to try and change public opinion and then assassinated the dead mans reputation so he could further justify his cowardly act. By the way WHO was the blond that was in the car orginally anyway? Bet that is why he and his wife are no longer together. One day I hope the REAL story comes out on this joker.
Something no right at AG ministry. Remember prosecution called cyclist attacker in Bryant case? Everything is on video. There is no evidence of the attack. Before the accident he is always at his bike.
As bike gets in front of SAAB, driver suddenly notices it, breaks and car stalls. Pulls forward impatiently. Irritated? Possibly touches rear wheel lightly (Briant's statement), but no damage. Stops. Ramming. Tough to go that far with tight clutch. Breaking with engaged clutch will stall the car immediately. Bryant breaks, but not stalls. He manages his tight clutch well.
Ramming is the first accident. He breaks, immediately reverses, turns wheels, drives forward as cyclist is still getting up. Sheppard is always in front and moves away (left) which indicates he is unstable.
Sensitive Bryant spent no time reflecting. He did not get out to ask if cyclist is OK. He assumes he is OK. He fails to provide insurance information as law requires in collision. He decides he can run from scene. Any reasonable person (never mind a lawyer) knows even low speed collisions can create significant damage including internal damage. All happens in 8 seconds. 3-4 perfect gear switches.
Bryant continues speeding up knowing that cyclist is latched and has no way to escape but dropping to his death. Best hope for survival - holding as strongly as he can hoping driver will stop. Bryant drops the cyclist and again fails to stop. Again fails to stop and remain.
Bryant got creative calling the jump an attack. Possible history of erratic behaviour facilitated this. Everything is on video and happened quickly so the history is irrelevant. It is Bryant's failure to stop and remain in the first accident which leads to the second accident ending in death. Everything is on video.
At the same time all six witnesses who claimed encounters with Sheppard drove away in a safe manner. Just an observation regardless of relevance. No erratic driving like Bryant who is experienced lawyer, politician, and likely trained to handle tough situations.
Strange the charges were dropped and no more charges were laid. Strange they are still not reinstated by the Crown and AG. Willful blindness? Everyone should be concerned.
I'm certainly glad they got this case right. There are alot of arrogant and obnoxious cyclists in the city that are just looking for trouble. Well, He got it...
Cyclists need to obey the rules as they apply to them...unfortunately most don't. Hopefully this fool's mistake will begin a change of attitude for Toronto cyclists.
Let me tell you something. If I'm in the car with my wife, and some violent meth head, who's in the middle of a booze fueled psychotic episode tries to attack us, and then latches onto my car, and won't let go...that my friend is a clear cut case of him, or me, and you best believe it ain't gonna be me!
@honestedits I've been tapped from behind on my bike too skippy, but not being a murderous drunken loogan I managed not to let my temper escalate it into a situation where I ended up dead with my sweet, sweet brain goo oozing out all over the curb.
@tremooloo Violent? I'd say Mikey was the violent one. No Crank found in Sheppard's body. What would you do if rammed by a car? Hardly a clear-cut case, especially a staggering beligerent drunk facing off against a small-peckered boxing expert with a sociopath mentality. But hey, maybe like my landlord says, that it's great that a white man can get off so easy for just killing a drunken indian. Like we did in the good old days. Right?
@winchester4440 If they wanted to bring in someone independent, why not get someone from Manitoba or Quebec? Why go all the way to BC, which is where Bryant's family came from? It probably was very expensive for this lawyer to be so far away from home, he probably wanted to get back ASAP so he could do other jobs too.
I think things would have been more interesting if they had selected an aboriginal Canadian as the Crown prosecutor.
Poor man... to think I thought Toronto was a more cycle friendly place... not so sure anymore. Well I guess I shouldn't judge based on one incident but Toronto seems to have a ways to go to be like Amsterdam, or Copenhagen.
there is no excuse for the behaviour of michael bryant..he is a murderer...no amount of character bashing of darcy allen sheppard can change the fact that bryant was behind the wheel of a potential murder weapon and decided to use it as such..he is a coward and a murderer and should spend the rest of his life behind bars...this is the man who banned pit bulls, even though he couldn't pick out what a pit bull was when confronted...he is trash..rot in hell,,,rest in peace darcy
True that we have to act with thoughts of our outcomes. Sheppard may not have done that, and certainly something Bryant didn't do when he raged with his car.
He won't be happy, I expect he will lose, and has lost, much that is important to him. His career is toast, he faces a long jail sentence if convicted.
Friends and family may alienate from him, his wife, if in fact she was the passenger will not trust a mad killer, and they may be justly sued for wrongful death.

Explain where you see an attempted murder being commited in the video. All I see is a car driver ,cyclist accident. Attempted murder happened when shep attacked Mr Bryant with a weapon.
Me,I would have used the same tactic and scraped the bug off the side of my car. The moment shep went to his girlfriends, drunk, he was a loaded weapon

At what point in the video footage does Sheppard use a weapon?
If you know so much about Sheppard's past that it explains his behaviour, can you tell us what Bryant was doing that night? And don't say he wasn't drunk. The police didn't give him a breathalyzer because he claimed he didn't have any drinks for dinner. Gee, maybe every drunk driver weaving around the road killing people should also use that excuse to get out of a breathalyzer. This certainly sets a precedent. The fix is in.

You are justifying Murder! Shame on you winchester440. Have you ever heard of using caution?
So if Michael Bryant was NOT reckless, the Antonym of reckless would apply in this case. Antonyms of reckless: TIMID & CAREFUL. Who thinks Michael Bryant was timid and careful when he mowed down Mr Sheppard & pinned him up against a mailbox , squashed the victim's head with his back tire & then drove off like a murderous bandit!
who is the tool now? You and that criminal you are justifying!

Michael Bryant is a "LOOSE CANON" and should be in jail with no parole rights based on the tapes we are seeing. Michael Bryant's acts are deliberate, vile & murderous. He should not be eligible to walk the streets until his trial has been dealt with. Parole at any set limit is not an issue for this MURDERING CRIMINAL.
Be sure to hold the media accountable for their perverse speculation, such as CTV's speculation by their little jerk newscaster (see "New street cam video Bryant declares his innocence") about pulling the steering wheel, his prior drinking, etc...note that NAVIGATOR the PR firm will depend on PUBLIC SENTIMENT and that mainstream media such as CTV hold huge sway on public sentiment: already I hear people parroting what they heard from those newscasts. BEAT UP ON CTV!!
Unfortunately, if the news organizations don't air the footage, there isn't going to be any change in public opinion that somehow Bryant was acting in self defense. Once people see the footage, and see how quickly it unfolded, there obviously was no time for Darcy to get him in a 'head-lock' or 'grab at the steering wheel' consciously. Whatever he grabbed at, it was a last ditch effort to get Bryant to stop his car and have the cops deal with the collisions. Bryant was running from the law.
philliydisco:I wish Global would show this,I really do.There was not headlock here,he was trying to get Bryant to stop, your right he was trying to run from the law
If you look at the enhanced footage and the raw footage, they show more of clip 2, which is the car in movement, pushing Sheppard to the ground. I highly doubt there was much talking between the two other than 'WTF' at that point, and once Bryant started bolting off, Darcy's instinct was to grab at the car, hoping Bryant would have no choice but to slow down. At least, that's why someone in their right mind would do. Last time I checked, you couldn't use your car to ram a bike who cut in front
All the spin doctors in the world can't refute what we see in this video--Bryant rages right through Sheppard the cyclist, takes him out...regardless of who was drunk or what previous incident incited this ordeal, Bryant clearly CHOOSES to hit the gas and knock down the cyclist...PLEASE PLEASE all you friends of Sheppard GET ORGANIZED and put together all accounts (surveillance, witness testimony, etc.) and don't let Bryant and Navigator get away with this!!
Bryant can have the best lawyer team ever & Navigator PR firm to do all the damage control to sway public opinion, but all this will be no match for his adversary: the hand of God.
God knows the truth and with all the expensive help Michael Bryant will hire to clear his name, God will expose Bryant for the liar he is. And if Bryant does not set the truth forward, God will expose and track him down like the animal he was against poor Mr Sheppard (a father of 3 young children).
you cannot blame a medication for your behaviour. This is just common sense. While 99.9% of the time the cyclist is to blame for an incident - that is NOT the case in this instance. I hope he goes to jail.
Bryant intentionally attacked the cyclist as per the video. That is first degree murder that they should charge him for as he clearly instigated and intended to do what he did.
How can media say that Sheppard was drunk? How can the media say he was an alcoholic and a drug addict? How can NAVIGATOR use the media to dirty Sheppard's name?
The video is CLEAR & MICHAEL BRYANT IS A MURDERER! GOD HAVE MERCY ON THE SOUL OF BRYANT THE MURDERER!
Bryant has been on Paxil anti-depressants for a while and this is what explains his violent outbursts which caused death. He is to blame for this. He could not cope with his government minister position and had to quit but remained on this drug,
I overheard a doctor say that Michael Bryant is presently on anti-depressants called PAXIL for which one of the side effects is rage & violence with sometimes murder as a possible act. People have murdered others under this drug. Bryant is another statistic using PAXIL and committing violence.
- Justifying bad behaviour, blaming drugs or alcohol. I'm sure that drug has a warning against using vehicles if you experience side effects, he is still ultimately responsible.
- respect for medical privacy may drive me to delete this post
- presently could mean now (post accident), not then
Ho my God! This is soooooo incredible! The media propaganda about the victim is a total shame! How is it that this murderer WILL get away with this even with the existence of such horrific images of the violent murderer behavior? There is no Justice, absolutely none! And this sad story will prove it again...
This footage is unaltered except: re-sizing, cropping to fit, brightness contrast adjustment for clarity, cuts between camera angles, and unavoidable artifacts from the video compression algorithms used on the source footages and youtube publishing.
I wish there was clearer footage of the occupants of the car. We were told more than 24 hours later that his wife was his passenger, but initial reports indicated the passenger was blonde haired. His wife has dark brown hair, and this difference was even pointed out on the talk show I listened to the morning after the incident. It could be a reason why he didn't want to report the original fender benders, and drove around the corner to let that person off. 'Passenger' contacted police later.
The PROOF is in the video and I don't care how the PR company is spinning it First Byrant kills Darcy with his "SAAD" then he BUYS a "NAVIGATOR" to make sure there is NOTHING left behind.
Toronto cops are withholding evidence that several construction workers have given, concerning Sheppard's having merely held onto a mirror and the windshield wiper recess as Bryant sped up to a reported "90 MPH" (only a subjective estimate). In spite of media accounts that a drunken, aggressive, out of control Sheppard posed a mortal threat to Bryant, the video proves that, rather than having attacked the man, he placed himself at least 6 feet in front of the car. Detention was lawful.
Big Media (scumbags) have been reporting that Sheppard attacked Bryant and then held onto the steering wheel. BS. This video clearly shows that Sheppard attempted a lawful detention, after the former AG knocked him to the ground. Witnesses claim that Bryant shouted at the cyclist, after he rode in front of him, thereby taking right of way (yes, cyclists CAN do that). The video proves that Bryant used a vehicle as a weapon, and that witness accounts that Sheppard hung on to preserve life.
It could be a reason why he didn't want to report the original fender benders, and drove around the corner to let that person off. 'Passenger' contacted police later.

One might expect that the hotel security footage will have those details.

Michael Bryant who murdered a cyclist has stated:
"I am innocent of the very serious accusations made against me"
Guess what?.. My dog thinks the same thing about the Pitbull Ban!
