His long solo in his cover of Deep Purple's Child in Time is a lot better than Blackmore's. Blackmore did some better ones in live shows but the original version on the album In Rock is pretty boring compared to Malmsteen's version on his Inspiration album. Malmsteen's best thing for pure composition and playing skill is his album Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar. It's the only classical music I ever actually enjoyed. Very pleasant and relaxing and a nice change from the metal.

Yngwie is an awesome technician but I don't feel one drop of soul in his playing. He plays so fast it's nearly impossible to savor any of his phrases or musical ideas, which I feel would be really good if he would just take it down a notch or 2... or 3 or 10.

The Star-Spangled Banner is my favorite song, of any kind, of all time. There is no song like it, and no song captures a sense of majesty & defiance in the face of assault like it does. Other national anthems are good (God Save The Queen for one) but I think the Star-Spangled Banner is in a class by itself.

The Star-Spangled Banner is my favorite song, of any kind, of all time. There is no song like it, and no song captures a sense of majesty & defiance in the face of assault like it does. Other national anthems are good (God Save The Queen for one) but I think the Star-Spangled Banner is in a class by itself.
As far as guitarists go, if Jimi Hendrix can play it, why not Yngwie?
