One of the best films ever ... only b/c it's coming true: spread the word... watch movies like Supersize Me, King Corn, The Future of Food, Food, Inc. I heard "Fast Food Nation" is a good book to read. It's unbelievable. Start buying organic. Stop eating _garbage_ food. Sure it doesn't bother you now, but in 50 years, when you stop being a consumer sheep the heart attack will come and remove you from the food chain. So that newer, younger consuming sheep can start buying and consuming.
"I haven't eatten like this in years". Its just nice food. Imagine real food being that scarce. Thorn likes the apple so much he even eats the core. He probably never ate one before. While it was a nice slice of beef, imagine it being so hard to get that it has to be kept under lock and key.
to think this was chalton heston's and edward g. robinson's last meal together both in the movie and in real life because both robinson and his character dies afterwards.
We are now consuming 90% of all the food that this planet can produce, we will reach a point of starving or recycling dead human's. It's due to over population. Starvation or green chips, sorry but I will eat the chips
The beauty of this scene is that it was not written into the original script. Director Richard Fleischer proceeded to add this scene as he felt the script needed a "bonding" sequence between these to guys and Robinson and Heston ad-libbed all of it to their credit. You can clearly see the friendship that had developed between these two characters onscreen (and the two actors offscreen). Thanks for posting, Skimpot!
One of my fave scenes too. I also like the one when Thorn brings all of the food raided from the murder victim's place, the sheer urprise in Sol's face, and he actually weeps a little when the beef comes out. I felt that second or so told you everything about possible conditions in 14 years time. that too was a great moment in the movie.
One person is bulimic.

I love this movie. The best scene is when Sol "goes home". Gotta love it.

Soylent green is high in protein and vitamins. The USDA recommends at least 3 servings of Soylent green a day.

Isn't that what they served Neo when after they woke him up? (without the green dye of course)
