I really don't get why Ford isn't going with a mild hybrid powertrain with these Ford Taurus police interceptors. Police Crown Vics hardly get better than 10MPG because they never shut the engine off and they drive aggressively. Putting a hybrid system with the V6 and V8 engines would probably DOUBLE the MPG the police departments get because the engine won't be on when stopped! It's such a stupid decision from Ford, I just don't get it.

I really don't get why Ford isn't going with a mild hybrid powertrain with these Ford Taurus police interceptors. Police Crown Vics hardly get better than 10MPG because they never shut the engine off and they drive aggressively. Putting a hybrid system with the V6 and V8 engines would probably DOUBLE the MPG the police departments get because the engine won't be on when stopped! It's such a stupid decision from Ford, I just don't get it.

@madhatter OK try taking off from a dead stop in snow with moderate to heavy throttle and see where that front end goes in the front wheel drive vehicle. I've owned both fwd and rwd and would drive rwd in any weather over fwd.
