If light cannot escape the gravity of a black hole.....does that mean that light is not a constant? The earth has gravity.....does that mean that the speed of light is slightly faster near a planet than it would be in empty space?
@boooootube light is constant, its just that sometimes its speed alternates. Ex- when light goes through a diamond, it moves at 15% of its original speed. And no, it doesn't move slighly faster, in the vacuum of space it moves at the constant speed of 186,236 Miles per second.
For all of you out there wishing you could watch this, there may be another option. I know this show was developed alongside a version they made for NOVA on PBS; it was called Monster of the Milky Way. It's not as cool on tv as on the 55' dome at Gates Planetarium in Denver, but it's better than nothing :)
I know they've just started showing it at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London, UK. It's at the planetarium at the Royal Observatory there. So if you live near there...
