Actually they do a lot of drinking and some do a lot of smoking still. The aging then to now has more to do with plastic surgery and Botox injections now than drinking and smoking. Still I notice some stars who have had surgery still show aging if they are hard partyers with all that entails, too. Genetics has an influence also. Wow, I do go on. The main comment is this is a great movie young or old.
We actually studied this movie in film appreciation class, Indiana University back in 1974. 200 kids watching this film, and when he poured that beer in her face we all just cracked up !
@mphrdldn seriously...people from those times used to grew old really fast...some of them faster than others....for instance, natalie wood looked really gorgeous in 1969 but 8 years latter she looked really tyred and stuff

I love the way this movie doesn't pull any punches. The main characters aren't all bad, but they certainly aren't all good.
