Bill O'Reilly keeps talking about patriotism but the kind of views he has would have a negative impact on America if enforced. Giving the government unrestricted power in regards to terrorist suspects is totalitarian, not libertarian. Also, for someone who keeps praising the military, he has never been in the military himself, and has disrespected soldiers who voiced objection to the neocon wars he supports. Nation building and oppressing other countries has nothing to do with patriotism anyway.

I find patriotism to be a manipulative force. I do good because it's nice to be nice, & to help the specific people im helping, not in the hope of gaining brownie points with my govt. Patriotism to me has no sense of morality because a true patriot will forget his own values in order to stay in tune with who's in power, or be definatly against the current incombants because their brand of patriotism makes them blindly resistant to change.
