  • magic, brings back a lot of memories from my days on a motor barge. The one I was on had a 66 and a 44 (22hp per cylinder). No electric start though, all hand start. It took a bit of time getting the hang of how much to dose each cylinder with (a bit like yours). I once swung tjhe 44, by hand, for 3 hours to get one start. As for the governor it was so worn we used to lub oil in when starting - the diesel just ran straight through :-) and it never got that amount of polishing either ;-)

  • Man... I love me some fuel injection... lol

  • Wow - what a cantankerous machine! Thanks for sharing.

  • the first time you couldnt get it started, thats when the camera stopped and started again at 4:09. do you need to do the hole procedure again or just push the button again?

  • All you have to do is prime the petrol chambers and then press the starter.

At the time the video was made the magneto was on its way out. This has now been refurbished and the engine starts on petrol first go even in very cold weather.

  • It starts on petrol. There is just enough power to turn the flywheel. Full power is only developed when the engine runs on diesel.

  • so this engine can run on gasoline and diesel

  • quite the operation to start that beast.

  • Very nice.
