@ Salguine I got stage fright doing both, but rather thrived on it tbh. Depends on what you're doing of course. Colin looks the more stage-struck in this one.
@JavelBleach I think he simply didn't appreciate being treated like a trained monkey... that may have caused much awkwardness for him and ultimately, stress.
@JavelBleach It's not that he got stage fright - he had panic attacks. Most performers get stage fright to some degree - panic attacks however are much rarer and are a separate thing entirely to stage fright. Panic attacks can occur for a variety of reasons. Agoraphobics, for example, will often experience panic attacks if they are forced to go outside. And once a panic attack starts they are almost impossible to stop.
You just have to ride it out. Performing would be impossible.
@JavelBleach No bother. I've seen Andy somewhere himself say that at the time of his breakdown he'd recently stopped taking valium for the first time in something like 13 years. That can't have helped! Valium's very addictive, so his body must have been experiencing quite a lot of withdrawal symptoms at the time. Those symptoms, I imagine, were central in sparking-off his panic attacks and a heightened sense of unreality and bodily unease in general. In short, a nervous breakdown.
@Lewelltam Didn't know what meds he was on, but I'd heard it was his wife who insisted he get off it cos of the other side effects, meaning he got prone to whatever it was again & could no longer perform regularly in public. Pbly good for him overall, but leaving US wanting...
Brilliant !!! I dont suppose you have XTC on BBC's Pebble Mill At One,but not the Dissapointed performance from '92,but from 1983 "Love On A Farmboys Wages" by any chance ? I can remember watching and even recording it but sadly on to Beta Max video and the tape got chewed not long after,so lost that and a concert shown on BBC by The Passions :-( So it would be great to see that again :-)))

Interesting insight into the character of Partridge. So he go no stage fright at all before going on telly?

@JavelBleach It's not even remotely the same thing.
