  • this is definitely more interesting than the usual cooking shows on local TV.

usually, there's only shows about metrosexual dudes with a boring presentation.

although i must admit that a show like Iron Chef is heavy on the budget...

  • i like how kobe gets violins with his entrances.

  • I have no idea Mario has starred in Iron Chef once. I love his cooking.

  • 7:15, CAST IN THE NAME OF GOD, YE NOT GUILTY.

  • are all the iron chef episodes this overly dramatic?

  • @babablackiesheep overly dramatic? why i have no idea what you're talking about =) if you mean epic... then yes, they are all this epic.

  • I love how he has like a 16 piece orchestra for the iron chefs

  • "epic"

  • Love this opening sequence, I always lol at 1:56

  • random question, is anyone able to tell where that piece of musich is from? Italian chefs entrance? or is it something they composed....?

  • Iron chef Italians entrance

    is so fuckin awesome!

and the theme just give me goosebumps

  • @hinojosa3

The theme shows up in a show called "The Big O". It gets used for pretty awesome effect there.

  • Does anyone else think Kaga is...well...outrageously sexy? ^^;

  • @Xayah Did you know he played the role of Jean Valjean in Japan's first tour of Les Misérables? He's quite the singer.

  • @Xayah Yes & im straight

  • Kobe's got easily the best theme song of the Iron Chefs

  • Iron Chef Italian- Showtime!!!

  • 5:47 you can tell from his face he doesn't like the taste of that pepper lol

  • @ionglacier maybe he realized this particular bell pepper was spoiled...haha

  • Best idea for a cooking show ever.

  • i love kobe's epic entrance!!

  • Holy crap, Kobe has his own symphony....

  • I don't know why, it's just so funny and dramatic when he unveiled the ingredient.

*DUN DUN DUN* *mountain of broccoli pops up*!

  • I LOVE THE SOUND TRACK

  • What is the name of music that plays as the chefs rise? the other three not kobe. But I also want to know the music that plays for kobe as well, besides the big o one there are 2

  • most of the music in the show, at least in the translated version that apears in america and canada, is from the movie Backdraft with kurt russell

  • can you believe that Bush Sr. banned broccoli from the white house kitchen during his reign of broccoli-banning darkness?

  • no.

  • I shit you not, look up "bush bans broccoli".

the poor guy must have never seen THIS!

  • It's good to be the president. You eat what you want and everyone else pays for it. Imagine the bill now for all the organic stuff.

  • @zapproowsdower That's what a bad food experience will do to a guy. I'm sure if he had had some great brocolli, there would have been a free flow of it. :)

  • @zapproowsdower he should have banned himself

  • @zapproowsdower well it's not like our body actually digest broccoli well...so it's not a bad idea...

  • @zapproowsdower I love broccoli. It's so adaptable, and healthy. It's the only thing I like that is good for me.

  • BROCOLLI IS SO EPPICCCC XDDDDD!!!

  • This battle is one of, like, two with Kobe fighting - Y'know?

  • according to wikipedia, he was definitely in the minority with 23 battles total. what's weird, is that i remember lots of Morimoto battles, and he only had 24!

  • Yeesh! Let the dubbers dub everyone EXCEPT KAGA!!!!!!!!!!!

(As a side note, I thought Kaga was awesome in the live action Death Note movies! :D)

  • i could never get over that....flamboyant kaga as someone more....sterile

  • Indeed. Sterile. Muted. We might as well say NEUTERED!!! *LOL*

And let's face it. Kaga had an irreplaceable charisma, a (to borrow your word) flamboyant presence that no English dub can ever EVER translate.

  • Kaga is absolutely amazing. Everytime he bites that bellpepper I crack up hahaha.

  • That's why Kaga takes a bite out of crime, with his yellow bellpeper. Best weapon of defence my friend! ^^

  • As Food Network was mostly based in New York and Morimoto was well established at Nobu, Fuji and FN decided to show those episodes first.

After several weeks of complaints from west coast fans who had seen the original "Ryori no Tetsujin," Kaga's voice was kept undubbed until the Michiba battles were shown.

The music tracks were also changed later on to reflect a copyright settlement over the "Glory" and "Backdraft" soundtracks.

  • Wow, dubbing over Kaga's voice definitely pulls the carpet out from under his charisma.

Kobe was squinting at the broccoli as if he's never seen such a bizarre plant before.

  • I like this challenger. He looks so chipper. xD

Kobe's expression when the ingredient was unveiled was funny...

  • I agree it's a little weird to hear Kaga dubbed, but at least they didn't try to dub a stereotypical "Japanese" voice as they did with some of the french challengers sometimes. THAT is creepy.

  • Eww, I am so disturbed by Chairman Kaga's dubbed voice.. takes away the magic somehow.

  • is you stupid ????

  • I love how Iron Chef Kobe rises with a full orchestra~

  • It's not a full orchestra.. more like a quartet.

  • Anyone know the name of the musical piece that Kobe is introduced with????????

  • Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Variation 23" from "Song & Dance."

  • You would be right, but for clips like this one, it seems that Kobe's music is the same as a track from the Big O soundtrack.

  • That can also be correct, as much of the music had to be changed during the later part of the FN run.

  • Yeah, whenever I've seen the reruns on FN, I hear that Big O track each time I see Kobe. In fact, during his intro, the phrase "Cast in the name of God. Ye not guilty." seems to run through my head! :D

  • Chairman Kaga is dubbed?

  • I believe this is one of the earlier episodes, they dubbed Kaga first, but realized it just wasn't the same. So they just subtitled him from then on

  • this doesnt seem like an early episode to me.. bcoz morimoto was already the iron chef japanese.. which is definitely not early.

  • Of course, knowing Food Network, they coulda aired those earlier than the originals. XD
