What is the name of music that plays as the chefs rise? the other three not kobe. But I also want to know the music that plays for kobe as well, besides the big o one there are 2
@zapproowsdower That's what a bad food experience will do to a guy. I'm sure if he had had some great brocolli, there would have been a free flow of it. :)
according to wikipedia, he was definitely in the minority with 23 battles total. what's weird, is that i remember lots of Morimoto battles, and he only had 24!
As Food Network was mostly based in New York and Morimoto was well established at Nobu, Fuji and FN decided to show those episodes first.
After several weeks of complaints from west coast fans who had seen the original "Ryori no Tetsujin," Kaga's voice was kept undubbed until the Michiba battles were shown.
The music tracks were also changed later on to reflect a copyright settlement over the "Glory" and "Backdraft" soundtracks.
I agree it's a little weird to hear Kaga dubbed, but at least they didn't try to dub a stereotypical "Japanese" voice as they did with some of the french challengers sometimes. THAT is creepy.
Yeah, whenever I've seen the reruns on FN, I hear that Big O track each time I see Kobe. In fact, during his intro, the phrase "Cast in the name of God. Ye not guilty." seems to run through my head! :D
this is definitely more interesting than the usual cooking shows on local TV.
usually, there's only shows about metrosexual dudes with a boring presentation.
although i must admit that a show like Iron Chef is heavy on the budget...

@hinojosa3
The theme shows up in a show called "The Big O". It gets used for pretty awesome effect there.

Yeesh! Let the dubbers dub everyone EXCEPT KAGA!!!!!!!!!!!
(As a side note, I thought Kaga was awesome in the live action Death Note movies! :D)
darthgehena 3 years ago 31
i could never get over that....flamboyant kaga as someone more....sterile
ThePieIsFalse 3 years ago
Indeed. Sterile. Muted. We might as well say NEUTERED!!! *LOL*
And let's face it. Kaga had an irreplaceable charisma, a (to borrow your word) flamboyant presence that no English dub can ever EVER translate.
darthgehena 3 years ago 6
Kaga is absolutely amazing. Everytime he bites that bellpepper I crack up hahaha.

That's why Kaga takes a bite out of crime, with his yellow bellpeper. Best weapon of defence my friend! ^^

Wow, dubbing over Kaga's voice definitely pulls the carpet out from under his charisma.
Kobe was squinting at the broccoli as if he's never seen such a bizarre plant before.

Anyone know the name of the musical piece that Kobe is introduced with????????
darthgehena 3 years ago
Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Variation 23" from "Song & Dance."
terrarising 3 years ago
You would be right, but for clips like this one, it seems that Kobe's music is the same as a track from the Big O soundtrack.
darthgehena 3 years ago
That can also be correct, as much of the music had to be changed during the later part of the FN run.
terrarising 3 years ago
Yeah, whenever I've seen the reruns on FN, I hear that Big O track each time I see Kobe. In fact, during his intro, the phrase "Cast in the name of God. Ye not guilty." seems to run through my head! :D

Chairman Kaga is dubbed?
axesarion 4 years ago
I believe this is one of the earlier episodes, they dubbed Kaga first, but realized it just wasn't the same. So they just subtitled him from then on
noventar 4 years ago 2
this doesnt seem like an early episode to me.. bcoz morimoto was already the iron chef japanese.. which is definitely not early.
glennedwardgo 4 years ago 2
Of course, knowing Food Network, they coulda aired those earlier than the originals. XD
