  • Vai is a little student of his teacher Satritooti and both ripped off Van Halen, they'd be nothing without Eddie, both just knock offs, but at least Satritoot did some cool tunes, Vai just tried to one up his teachers.

  • Solo : it was the shit. Eddie's the man , and Vai's OUT!

  • Bunch of homos! Prancing around like trannys expecting to be poked in their gay butts.

  • @koletski21 no... this is david lee roth and steve vai, two of the most respected musicians of all time

  • @applejive43 Wow! "Most respected MUSICIANS of ALL TIME" Do you get out much? I'm guessing if those two burnouts impress you to say such then your world might be very small. Vai was an expert at making fart noises on the guitar. Roth was good at yodeling in the mic and shaking his gay butt and bleaching his hair like a homo, is this what you call a musician? Yeah I was impressed when I was 15 yrs. old too. But now I see them as they really were.

  • @koletski21 well, every frontman of the late 80's basically copied david lee roth, so he had some sort of influence I GUESS, and vai is frequently put on lists of great guitarists, but you are obviously a homophobe so i dont regard you with any decency, fact is that these guys are very famous, successful, and good at what they do so i just find it in bad taste when assholes like you put down someone else for doing what they love

  • @applejive43 You might add that Vai and Satriani among others also copied Eddie too. Van Halen did real well, it was a good chemistry. But after Roth left and Van Halen got Hagar it reminded me of a perfect couple that breaks up and tries to pretend to be happy with their new partners, but it's obvious they are with inadequate substitutes. Of course we'd have to imagine the Van Halen split was a "gay couple" split since they were all actually men regardless of Dave's gay hair. But nevertheless.

  • That guitar solo was an EPIC FAIL!

  • Like Dave, but this was Gay beyong gay!

  • Vai is a real musician... Ed is a drunk!

  • were the 80s really that unattractive, some crazy shit at the end there, acid maybe.

  • when steve vai was taking lessons from joe satriani EVH was doing this shit!!!!!!

  • @wolfgangaxiola And while Eddies been doing NOTHING for 20 years except the odd shit tour with his fat son, Vai was composing and creating a multitude of albums while touring with numerous talented bands with inspired music (including this 1) Creating charities and opportunities for kids and never letting his ego get the better of him.

    Whats your point?

  • @TheLydianRocks Steve Vai great player, nice guy, EVH great player, nice guy to, take it easy

  • @TheLydianRocks yeah, u know them all personally..lol.

  • I'm not going to lie, the supergroup is DLR, EVH, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony. Every single song the original Van Halen made was great. Possible exception with "On Fire"... never really liked that song.

  • Freak show :)

  • what a shit performance i would want refund

  • steve and billy made that band,,just sayin

  • wow!!! che concerto!!!

  • I saw Dave and Steve in 88, I guess on the Skyscraper tour. Loudest concert I've ever been to, almost too loud. I wish this band lineup had stayed together. Eat'em and Smile is still one of my favorites.

  • These guys are having fun playing. You can tell the difference.

  • I wish they would have recored this tour and released a DVD! What a moment in history this band was! Good to remember-you know that it is!

  • I'm David Lee Roth, the rock and roll clown........(I do cocaine)

  • The talent in this band was absolutely unreal. Gregg Bisonette is sort of unsung as a drummer, but he is top notch for sure.

  • Anyone else notice the Vai nipple touch at 3:02 into the solo lol?

  • 04:22 Lee Roth is crazy as fuck...

  • Why couldn't you have hooked up that giant microphone to a giant snake and given it a big production too?

  • Was prevented from doing so, and it continues to keep me here!

  • Sorry Mr Vai, that solo was terrible. All charisma but no soul. EVH is the man!!!

  • Looks as if Billy Sheehan had to run off stage to take a dump at 5:36... looks likes he's trying to wave off his fart while running!

  • Fucking presumptuous David Lee Roth. He thought he's the heart of Van Halen band, that he was worship by everyone and the problem is that he was right. All Van Halen fans followed him like sheep when he left the band and still loved him. Damn, he fucked up the great band just to follow his huge ego and instead of making him go bankrupt, people make him become even more popular and successful. It's a shame: if someone fucks up my favorite band, he's gotta pay for it, I'll never buy his solo stuff

  • @PietroRumenta Diamond Dave didn't "fuck up" Van Halen. Whoever turned it into Van Hagar did.

  • @Tokopol If Roth hadn't started thinking he was a superman he wouldn't have left Van Halen and the band might not have become "Van Hagar", as you've called it. However, nothing to say against Sammy Hagar, who's got double of the skills of Diamond Dave, much more voice extension and power, much better stage presence and is not a fucking drunk. David Lee Roth was an inventor, a genius, his way of singing while talking was very new, but on live he did suck. He was a dickhead. He's not to be worship

  • I wasn't impressed with this version

  • for all the shit david lee roth gets for being a prat, he really seems to appreciate and enjoy the musicians around him and include them in his stage show. i'd love to know from guys like vai etc what he was like to work for

  • @mkeysou812 include them in "his" stage show? Steve Vai is the only one on that stage with talent. DLR is a fag.

  • Am i the only one who really likes billy sheehan and steve vai? blargh

  • Dave is the Best frontman ever!!!!

  • Gawd almighty I had that EXACT DLR outfit!

  • Vai is just a different "copy" of EVH.

  • @Zachhecrote14 evh is a diffrent copy of steve vai lol

  • @acdcyoyoer EVH copy of Steve Vai? i think you dont know who come first...

  • I'm sorry... those stage antics... I'm embarrassed for him.

  • JIMI HENDRIX...I went to see him play...Live! When he played everyone just watched...Yeah , he was that good...Truth be told there's alot of good players out there Eddy and Jimi created great songs and both had a sound like none before them...Think its easy? Show me what you got.....Its not kool to compare great guitar players....Better to enjoy......FuriousMusic lets rock :)

  • I totally agree about their awesome musicianship, but looking at this video, I have to say the costumes and they way they are acting is totally gay! I used to love this band at that time, too. Just stop wearing those f**king tights, and sticking your asses in the audiences faces!! Yuck!

  • I never liked Hendrix although he can play blues very good but that's just it, some people like blues and some don't.Blues has the meaning of sadness through instrument and isn't respected in proper music much and it's ethnic in culture.I'm a classical and harmony fan so blues is not priority for me but that's it,to me.Vai or EVH had Hendrix not been so doped up and lived to see them play would've given them mad props and Eddie didn't need Hendrix for his style he has noted Les Paul for that.

  • The best way to put it is:if Eddie is the King of rock guitarist.then that would make Steve Vai the God of Rock guitarist.Steve has done everything to play with Frank Zappa to DLR,WhiteSnake and beyond to his own solo career. The only guitar player in the world on the same level as Steve would be Joe Satriani...nuff said

  • @Hawkmoon51 Ask Stevie Vai who the king /god of guitar is.Ask Eddie or even SRV.The answer is the same,Jimi Hendrix.Jimi would probably say Robert Johnson or Albert King.Do some research I reckon you'll be happily satisfied. Not to knock Stevie Via though,he is a dedicated genius.

  • A combination between great rock music and aerobic studio. Funny, Billy Sheehan prepared for diving. So what, these were the 80's!! And still the music is fucking good.

  • thumbs up if u can see Daves ballsack

  • That looks like Ediie up at the keyboards! Like a friendly ghost, you just can't have Jump without some form of Eddie being part of it... :)

  • detroit = number 1 murder city in USA = too many jigga-boosz

  • Steve Gai, LOL.

  • very true.Stevie Vai played with Zappa and you can hear his influence.

  • what's wrong with you guys? does it matter to compare other artist to another? just enjoy this fuckin' great song. and btw it isn't true that Vai imitated Eddie. go listen to Vai's songs first and give a proper comment. Vai's more likely to Zappa rather than Eddie

  • Vai Vai Vai!!!!!

  • @AndJustice For Me : Are you a musician? Didn't think so. Do you know the first thing about music beyond just listening to it? Apparently not. This video is certainly not what I'd consider to be even a shadow of what Vai is capable of. Do yourself a favor and type "Now We Run" in the search box above, watch and listen to Mr Vai & Co. You will never find even ONE EVH song that even comes close to that. Vai is ten times the artist and composer that Eddie is. Sorry.

  • @cnoteq Vai is ten times the artist and composer than Eddie? LOL! Why has Vai fallen into virtual obscurity then? Vai had a great career...following in Eddie's footsteps.

  • @cnoteq eeeks slow down there. ALbeit I think Vai is a better guitar player, I would think by even having to explain who he is, would say that hes not quite the composer EVH is. Eddie got rich and famous off of Eddie. Not off of other peoples stuff. Eddie was not a just band member, he was the band. Eddie was not a replacable member. Steve Vai always has been, or was a replacement. You couldnt replace Eddie. Its like sticking Slash in Justin Bebers band, It aint going to help the music.

  • One of ther greatest super bands of all time. No one today can shit about it. Go listen to your papa roach & disturbed you little cunts... All those bands combined don't have an atom of talent that Steve Vai or DLR has in one of their finger nail clippings.

  • @GhettoGinny hahahahhaha woooooooo!!!!!

  • @GhettoGinny I listen to modern better bands that have so much more talent than this... lolol while I like Van Halen, not so much Roth solo era. I have live modern metal bands on my page that puts this to complete shame.

  • @GhettoGinny ya his talent of not staying on key is remarkable

  • @GhettoGinny Of course your damn right about that! But don't forget Billy and Gregg that made the whole of it complete, right?

  • @GhettoGinny ....I acknowledge that they are far superior yet I enjoy listening to disturbed. To call everyone that listens to at least moderately decent music "cunts" is fucked up when there are people listening to hip hop and pop bullshit. Dick.

  • randy rhoades said van halens guitar playing was all smoke and mirrors, that george lynch was a better player...if randy was alive today and saw steve play...he would say...damn that dude can kick van halens ass....

  • Who is this EVH rip-off who butchered the solo?

  • @AndJusticeForMe Steve Vai. And he didn't butcher it, he changed it because he's not EVH.

  • @AndJusticeForMe : Look what you stated is a fucking opinion -sure, you're entitled to it, but it just shows you are a closed minded FUCK. Steve Vai could have played EVH's solo note for note, no problem.....but WHY THA FUCK WOULD HE??!! There comes a point where ya gotta be your own man , and not a fucking follower. But I don't expect you to understand that.

  • @hazor777 Sorry, but my post wasn't an opinion...it was a fact. Steve Vai has been a EVH rip-off from day one. And deep down you know I'm right. That's exactly why Roth hired him. And where is Steve Vai today? At the local bowling alley? The local pub? What the hell has he even done in the past decade? I know exactly how it went: Steve Vai heard Eruption for the first time and said, "Damn, I wanna be like him." Vai is probably the best EVH rip-off, but a rip-off nonetheless.

  • @AndJusticeForMe : no, IT IS your opinion. Matter of fact Steve Vai's playing is more like Frank Zappa's & Hendrix than most other players. Yea, he "does" Van Halen, THAT'S WHY he was hired by Roth -duh. Vai has been putting out an album at least every yr since then , dumbass. Thing is you're so far up your own ass to have ever known. And so what if he was "at the bowling alley/the pub" - a hell of alot more than ANYTHING a douchebag like yourself behind your PC could ever say, huh?

  • @hazor777 Oh yes. I'm getting you all fired up. I like that. I find it very cute that you defend crap so passionately. Look, you can polish and perfume a turd all you want; its still a turd. Without Van Halen, there would be no Vai, Satriani, Rhoads, etc. And Vai has put out albums? LOL! Have you had CD release parties with the ten other people who bought the albums? HMMMM, I don't really see Steve Vai in arenas and stadiums that much anymore. I wonder why. Get schooled, son. You can't compete.

  • @AndJusticeForMe : "son" ? uh.,o.k. "dad". "Get Schooled"???? Ha. Thanks for the laugh. Yea, if it makes you feel better (and probably does -low self esteem, obviously) to think you have me "fired up" , by all means :go ahead. If you knew your rock history, you'd know that EVH & RR were basically from around the same area, at the same time and played the same clubs.Hey Im a die hard EVH fan myself, but I have to call out douchebags when I see em - (i.e. you), -- your reply? (*yawn*)

  • @hazor777 Ah, I see you're still emotional even though you're trying to conceal it now that I've called you on it. I see right through it. Its OK; let your emotions run wild. Just more of a reward to me, knowing that I got under your skin. And I'm glad to know your brain hasn't been totally consumed by mental disease, considering you are an EVH fan. I applaud you. Even though you're a Vai fan (which is laughable and almost unforgiveable), you aren't a complete total loss. You are dismissed.

  • @AndJusticeForMe : oooooooooo........guess you "told" me, huh? (*yawn*) . See your whole argument is based on your OPINION of who's "best" - but if you're too stupid to understand basic English 101 (diff btw an opinion & fact), then I can't help you. Interesting to see all the comments that backed up my argument after your sad & pathetic little self proclaimed troll "victory" on here. Simply put: you are an IDIOT to truest sense of the word. Go ahead have your pathetic last word, douchebag.....

  • @hazor777 Oh, I can feel the anger through the computer. Guess I got under your skin more than I thought. Sorry about that. You may go back to listening to substandard guitarists now.

  • Respond to this video... 'AndJusticeForMe' -lmao!! just screams total Metallica ass lick, know nothing, wanna be.

  • @AndJusticeForMe 1. EVH plays blues/minor harmonic scales. Vai plays every scale.

    2. In the past decade, Vai has released 1 studio album, multiple live/orchestral albums including with G3, been on multiple world tours, and won 2 grammy awards. How many did EVH win?

    3. If you have any sort of ear training you would be able to realize that they don't sound similar at all.

    4. Try not to sound so ignorant and hop off EVH's cock.

  • @billybob728 I can tell you really tried to form a persuasive argument; the problem is that it didn't work. You are actually comparing Vai's accomplishments to EVH's? Eddie has more #1 albums, more fans, more money, more GOTY awards, been on a few more world tours than Vai, etc. You know there really isn't a comparison; you are just trying to make something stick. And believe me, and I agree, that EVH and Vai sound nothing alike. Vai imitated Eddie just like Vince Neil imitated David Lee Roth.

  • @AndJusticeForMe I'm comparing Vai's accomplishments in the last 10 years to EVH's. That's why I said "In the past decade," before I stated my point. As far as putting together a persuasive argument, if that's what you call reading facts off of wikipedia and posting them here, I should have a law degree.

Also, I don't really think no.1 albums and your net worth really matters since Justin Bieber probably has more of both.

By the way, I'm still not sure what exactly Vai is copying of EVH?

  • @AndJusticeForMe ...Dude, get a clue. Vai loves EVH...but has a totally different style and sound. Steve is very experimental w/sounds/styles and odd times..Eddie is not ...do some research before you spout off stupid shit...just cause YOU dont know what Vai is doing means he's doing nothing??.....its a crybaby guess on your part..you dont know facts!...The last 10 years?: Countless cd's, tours, dvd's, G3 concerts....Ed & Steve both have a place as rock GOD guitarists!..I love em both.Deal w/it!

  • @mikeybbdrummin You know ur shit. I totally agree with you.

  • @mikeybbdrummin Of course Vai loves VH; he made a career out of imitating him. Vai is dead and the whole world is electric over the new VH music that is coming soon. Does anyone ever get this excited over a Vai project? Um, let me see...nope.

  • @AndJusticeForMe ....Everyone is excited cause DLR is back...yea they got excited for VH 3 too didnt they!?....You know nothing bout music if you think Vai sounds like EVH....Vai took the guitar to a level even EVH cant touch. EVH is great and does great w/a band. Look at Vai's career w/bands and solo..it speaks for itself..Grammy winning as a solo artist..u dont have to like him, but u cant change these facts........y r u even here...go listen to Metallica..,talk about no excitement....please!

  • who is the person who plays the keyboards?

  • ok cover band

  • hahahaha, i love steve vai even more now

  • I don't steve vai screwed it up. if you don't like it you kinda have to look at the facts, DLR left van halen and wasn't happy with the members in that band. he wanted someone that was "better than edde". (ed is my favorite guitar player but i think vai is better,) Roth wanted the song to lose all sense of what ed did. so vai switched it up.

  • @EVHrocks1

    libarachi

  • @shane69999 i'm pretty sure i'm not feminine or gay

  • whos the keyboard player?

  • It's because Steve Vai is overrated and boring that he screwed up the song. The only thing he has is decent guitar tone and I guess that makes him a good guitar player?

  • 変幻自在の必殺ギター野郎"スティーヴ・ヴァイ"~~デヴィッド・リー・ロスと"JUNP"だが、これはエドワードには敵わないナ!

  • Steve didn't do a very good job of that.

  • how awesome would it be if they did a Reunion tour?

  • Funny! And one of the best Songs in Rock History. ;-)

  • Damn Vai butchered this song, could just be the audio quality though

But his tone, his phrasing is all out of whack here

  • This proves Vai should start his own hunting outrigging company, because if he woyuld butcher a deer or moose, the ay he butchered Eddie's solo alone on this video, Vai would be a millionaire.......that was terrible. He is no where near eddie's class. No wonder no one wants to hire Vai, evident here.

  • @Lucicsux i'll admit, his performance of eddie's solo was less than admirable, however steve vai was a fucking good guitarist back then. Look up "jet to jet" by alcatrazz he plays yngwie's solo to that flawlessly live in japan

  • @0riginalHipster im not a big Ywingie fan either, I like Steve Morse, Joe Walsh, Page, Tipton, the old school guys. I guess for modern rock i like Dave Mustaine, But, the bottom line is, i started playing guitar because of Eddie. Cheers

  • Heh. I didn't know Roth was playing the 1984 stuff on his solo tour. Nice that DLR wasn't pretending his pre-solo days didn't exist.

  • every note vai strikes on a string makes me bow down to him..

  • David Lee Roth sucks without Van Halen. It doesn't matter who he jams with. Vai sounds good while Roth is so off key it is embarrassing. All Roth has is drunk / high ego BS vocals, with a half ass stage show. This song sucks thanks to Roth. Steve Vai rocks!

  • One word...Pathetic

  • Comment removed

  • THIS IS SHIT WITHOUT EDDIE AND ALEX

  • they should band the ability to comment just be abel to send messages about they think about there videos thst the best way to quit the hate u know what i mean

  • Rockso the clown, ka-ka-ka-cocaiiiiiiine!

  • (Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of thesaga25 at twitter)

  • that was hard to watch...no wonder he begged to be back in van halen all those years.

  • david is such a prick

  • Eddie who?

  • sounds great..but,van halen does it the best..

  • they were on top of the world!!!

  • I saw them in Nashville on that tour, Fun Concert!

  • Creo que en esa época no era tan bueno, nada que ver con sus conciertos recientes.

  • I would give my left arm to be there live seeing this.

  • super bueno muy buen guitarrista nada que envidiar commmmmmm ninguno y super cantante un bozarron

  • super bueno muy buen guitarrista nada que envidiar commmmmmm ninguno

  • that was the worst ever, they are all fags

  • @willow35981 You really don't like Van Halen?

  • Eddie got owned

  • now it all makes sense why DLR and VAI liked playing together .,,.disgusting !!

  • Back when Detroit used to have people living there...

  • 1:33 So much gay!

  • if you cant sing well...you might as well jump!!!!!

  • Makes you appreciate a music studio.

  • Billy and Steve look so young in the video. I wonder how Steve felt playing Eddie's material.

  • say what you will about "fag this , fag that, flambouyant this, flambouyant that" etc..... but was it YOU GETTING ALL THAT PUSSY BACK IN 1986 LIKE THESE GUYS WERE??? NO? Yea, I thought so. It was the 80's douchebags: guys in bands had long hair wore tight shit, some makeup, and the women fuckin loved it ! We're all glad you little douchebags weren't born yet, it would have made it suck like everthing does now.

  • @hazor777 Yea Man Sex,Drugs,Rock and Roll im only 16 but no pussy shit boy band label sell out can top this shit

  • @hazor777 you are so right! so true! but if you watch it today, its also right to say "omg so gay!" haha :D

but fucking hell, the 80`s were so cool!

  • @hazor777 Haha....agreed! Also, I'd like to point out that some of these little douchebags may have actually been concieved at this concert.

  • @joecama8 : oh yes, that is highly possible!

  • @joecama8 It would be awesome to be conceived at a van Halen concert. What an honor x)

  • @hazor777 Fucking right i love this music i hate the new shit! and im only 17!

  • @astrobot7 : well if you were my son, Id be very proud. Make sure you get a steady diet of late 60's and 70's bands too , we wouldn't want you to suffer from "mal-rock-trition" !! As you were, sir.

  • @hazor777 hehe ya buddy!

  • @hazor777 Well if the way they dressed makes you wonder if they were gay or not, the shit they sang about should have removed any doubt they were NOT gay.

  • @scooterss2112 : ummmm.....did you read my comment? Im the one who said they were NOT.- duh

  • @hazor777 Sorry dude, I was on your side and agreeing with you.

  • @scooterss2112 - nah, my bad........no big deal, I read your comment wrong -inflection doesn't carry over well I guess, on comments.........

  • @hazor777

hazor777, I could not agree more with what you said. Music sucks huge balls today for the most part, nu metal is garbage, grunge is dead (thank God!), and the rest of what plays on the radio that is *supposed* to be rock is just crap. Kids these days have no idea what they missed. I'm 43 years old and I lived through the 80's metal scene (I actually lived on Hollywood Blvd from 1987-1988), and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world. It was the best of times!

  • @H3llRazing :If you're about to ROCK, AC/DC & myself SALUTE YOU,Sir!!

  • Eddie is the coolest looking guitar player!! Jake E Lee is probably next!

  • @taxford Fuck no dude!! Yngwie Malmsteen and fukin' Slash look the coolest!!

  • Steve Vai is a great guitar player, but boy.... he is so flambouyont on stage he looks like a total HOMO!!!

  • @havasu1971 It was the 80's. That was considered the height of sexy....but yeah.

  • @josiahgust I still think theyer sexy! And I wan't even born yet! Especially Steve Vai and Dave <3 mhh

  • redefines the term...cock rock...

  • David Lee Roth...once a douche always a douche.

  • Vai is so much better than Halen in all ways shape, form, and fashion, Eddie just became selfish after the band when quiet and fired the bassist and replaced him with his son

  • @BLSFL If anything Vai is just copying evh, Vai Himself is a HUGE EVH fan, EVH is the second most influencial guitarist EVER! ( the first being hendrix)

  • Dave was better with the real VH.

  • Dave looks so much happier back playing with brothers, VH.

It's a shame he's lost some of his athleticism now, but I'd be willing to bet he could still do his mid air splits from the drum platform. They may need to postpone a few shows after that, for recovery time, but know he still has it in him.

  • The solo is tragedia:-)))))))))))))))))

  • Parasiticing off Van Halen ?? but DLR WAS Van Halen ! and when he left the band he still sings Van Halen songs ! proof is this vid...

  • Awesome footage, thanks for upping!

    <3 DLR and Steve Vai

  • mystical funky vibe seeing a classic Van Halen song being done by another superstar lineup but it's rock and roll cheers ! thanks for the upload !!

  • Me think Dave Lee Roth band with Sheehan and Vai was one of the most entertaining and well plaing groups there has ever been.Sure you can find some that play "better" with some things, but in general. If you have saw them you will know what I mean.

  • like I said ibne, shut the fuck up before I cockslap you. Your comments are terrifying, you truly scare me with a name like awesome john net. O yuzden seni de seni doguranın da amına koyim ben. You stupid motherfucker.

  • Wow!

  • Is it me, or doe Vai tweak his nipple at 3:00 o.O

  • @panny14 yeah he did...and even if people don't like his solo compared with Eddie's, I think it was his way of saying..yeah, I'm better.

  • Ok Man where did you get this tour video, do you have the whole thing ?

Upload it to a server now coz Im gonna enter to your house, seriously

  • As a guitarist, I'm not really into Vai, I find his playing really lacking in natural feel and groove. Satriani is my favourite in this kind of genre. Some of Steves on stage antics (and atire) are quite..........dare I say it..........gay.

My opinion only, which in the grand scheme of things, doesnt mean sh!t.

  • @jadaras I'm a guitarist too & I don't like Vai. His playing is sterile, clinical and lacks emotion, for me. He's like a robot.

  • @whitbyjet65 watch lotus feet played live with the holland metropole orchestra... a ton of emotion

  • @rickyjshiznit I've been aware of Vai since his days with Zappa. I admit he's an incredible technician but I believe he misses the spirit of a true guitar player. Sometimes the simple way is the best way. Vai always over-complicates things, just because he can.

  • @whitbyjet65

    Very well Put..

No one can Beat The REAL Eddie VanHalen,

    "NO ONE"......Damn Robots..Grrrrr!

  • @CompaqVids WELL SAID!
