Really hope we get a new Gorguts album. Gorguts and Sacrifice are my 2 favorite Canadian bands. If Sacrifice can release a new album of good stuff after an even longer break, Gorguts can surely release a new album of great stuff! Here's hoping!

This is nothing short of phenomenal. Very Deathspell Omega sounding, which is a great band to be compared to. Gorguts are, and will always be one of the most original death metal bands in all existence!!

@thysempiternus In terms of who came first... DsO were playing similar stuff for not too long, Obscura came out before 1998 (if I remember right). But credit goes of course to both these bands.

Still credit is to be given to DsO for taking said "style" further into progressive "unorthodox" black metal and beyond metal in general. Both excellent bands in their own right!!

Sounds great!!! I'm a bigger fan of their sludgier material tho. I don't think longstreth fits gorguts well. He's too modern, generic and perfect to make the music sound too machinic. And it sounds like they're using a click track which i fucking hate!!!!! Listen to obscura or nespithe or unquestionable presence. These albums are great because of their dynamic tempos and odd percussions. And that's what i loved about gorguts. This may be lost on the new album. Oh well. Jump on the bandwagon.

This sounds great, and like it was tracked live with no overdubs. I have a feeling that the person who is complaining of "notes jumbling together" and an "amateurish" sound will feel differently once the studio version is released. I don't think people realize how hard metal bands work in the studio to get that perfect sound listeners are used to hearing.

@exploitedtryout Sloppiness? Gorguts has always been very precise from a musician's standpoint. And your Chuck-fellatio is pretty ridiculous. Death has nothing on Morbid Angel in the death metal scene. They never did, even in the late '80s-early '90s when both were at their peak. Maybe if you wanted to bring progressive into it, sure, but Death's later material is lame anyway.

But I do agree new Cynic, Pestilence, and Atheist blow hard. This isn't a final recording either, so I'm holding out.

i dont know what everyone is talking about comparing this to Jupiter, this sounds really ok to me, i wasn't expecting anything like Obscura, but this is by no means a let down, all the dissonace is still there which is like their trademark, Jupiter was probally the biggest let down i have ever heard, to be totally honest haha, and who fucking cares how the dress, chuck wore sandals on stage, but i do agree with atheist's new trendy sound sucking and kelly's vocals suck on Jupiter!

Definitely has a "Dysrhythmia" feel to it, but a huge part of that is just that Hufnagel's sound on the guitar is just so damn distinctive; it's instantly recognizable. This seems like a natural evolution from WtH, can't wait to hear the rest.

@39selrach I think that most people says gorguts sounds like dysrhythmia because the unmistakable sound of colin marston's bass (that I actually like a lot) and because the samples and demos are instrumental, but acording to the info in the official gorguts web, Lemay is now working on the lyrics, because he wanted to have the music first, but actually there are a lot of diferences between the two bands, people should talk when the album is finished not before
