  • The FDA are way behind the times if they never put this warning out before 2004!DO NOT eat coastal fish and in partucualr crustations,.. 1

They are BOttOM feeders filtering thru all the dirt etc on the ocean floor Deep sea fish is far safer, KNOW were your foods are coming from ,.. is ,most important,. not China Japan, etc,. and Buying from Israel is funding the wars,.. where there are wars there are chemicals and radiations ,. same rule applies to hugh tech gadgets like ur phones etc,.

  • I would probably eat seafood if the waters were clean and it were sustainably obtained... sadly I can't imagine both of those happening any time soon :-/

  • Avocado is high in Omega-3 fatty acids, plus several other vitamins and minerals.

  • As we eat the food off the top of the food chain there is no control on what it is we actually eat. If we can eat carbon, nitrogen, metals, sunlight and can produce the enzymes.... Actually it has been shown to be possible. There were/are living examples of men and women who lived/live on air.

  • The world would be a much better place if everyone was vegan. <3

  • you vegans and vegetarians are so paranoid

  • @natew1990 its more like we care about our health

  • Hi, thanks for the info. You mentioned Kelp as an alternative. Where would you be able to get it and how would you consume it? thanks.

  • @cookymnstr123 you can get it as dried strands, which you can put into the cooking water of beans or soup, then blend it in or take it out. Or you can get granules to put in your salt grinder with coarse sea salt, or powder that you can mix up with fine sea salt. There's also Herbamare, that puts kelp in with dried vegetables and salt to make a seasoned salt. Another viewer mentioned kelp noodles, which are also great, but you need a good sauce and they take a bit of getting used to ;)

  • @healthyvegan Thank you sooo- much for the info. I will try to look for these kelp products esp since we are trying to cut down our salt intake.

  • what about seaweed???

  • @BlackIsOut excellent source of iodine and minerals - spirulina and chlorella have very easily-digested EFA's too. Are you wondering about contamination of seaweeds? They don't have the fat content, which is where the heavy metals accumulate. So far they're ok :)

  • Toasted Nori Seaweed is a wrap used for Sushi. It can be eaten plain as a snack.

Source of vitamin A as well as iron. Yama Moto Yama is a delicious brand.

  • flax seeds are an excellent source of omega 3. Just grind them up in a coffee grinder or food processer. I add them to oatmeal, or cereal. they have a very nutty taste.

  • @Christy3C my favorite non-fish source of omega-3 :)

  • whats your opinion on chia seeds?

  • @jennytheripper love them :) great omega-3:6 balance. Chia and flax seeds are the 2 best sources. Sacha inchi is good too, but not as readily available right now. Hemp has lots of omega 3, but unfortunately too much 6 to offset other sources.

  • I was talking about this with my uncle today. He insists that I need meat to be healthy and especially fish. I've been vegan for a while and feel great. My blood test results came back perfect. I don't know why I would need it? I've also read about how polluted our oceans are and fish are all contaminated, some with weird diseases.

  • @cutesmile8611 well, I'm glad you're sticking with it :) and good to have those blood tests to prove you're doing well! I think people are clinging to fish and other animal foods because there are examples of older cultures that were very healthy, but our world is so different now that we need a different strategy.

  • Since becoming vegan, I was scared that I might be missing an important nutrient found in fish since everybody I know can't stop talking about it even the nutritionist I USED to go to (and she's the same nutritionist who was against me going vegan heh :/ needless to say it was the last time I saw her) but your video helped me get over that fear. Thanks a lot Heather!! I'm really appreciating your videos on meat stuff!

A plant based diet is the healthiest diet you can get. Period.

  • @running90away yeah, I get a lot of pro-fish comments too, so I'm glad you & others are finding this helpful :)

  • Are there certain options that are better than others when it comes to fish?? Types of fish, farm raised or wild, etc?

  • im a big sardine guy but i dont eat them alot cause ive also heard about the high mercury in fish these days. i heard you can buy fish oil that is mercury free at the health food store ill have to check that out. what does kelp taste like? peace

  • Good info. The only seafood I ate before becoming vegan was orange roughy, tilapia, sardines and tuna. After doing research and reading about the toxins they carry, I decided to "X" them from my diet. I think seafood may have some health benefits but the unhealthy toxins and long-term side effects far outweigh the good. I recently tried kelp noodles....didn't care for them much. But dulse I've also tried and it's pretty good.

  • @1221tam I only like kelp noodles with an asian-style sauce - with miso or tamari to offset the slight kelpiness.

  • I guess that's it for vegan video's? :(

  • @InvisiMan2006 no, not at all :) I just get so many questions about the health impact of each animal food that I wanted to go over why I don't eat them, and why I think a vegan diet is the healthiest option. There are lots of people who see that a mostly-plant diet is healthy, but think a little bit of meat/chicken/fish/eggs/dairy is healthy because of the nutrition they bring. My point in these videos is they might have some theoretical benefits, but in our reality they're not a healthy choice

  • For the past few months since becoming vegan one of the things I miss is fish.......and sadly this is something not new for me.

  • @THELOVEHELIX yeh ALL farmed fish!

  • excellent video, heather! I stopped eating fish and most seafood for environmental and health reasons, but I do allow myself to have oysters as a very special treat maybe once or twice a year.

  • I stopped eating it for the very reasons you talked about. when we go to the alps here in Germany they have some fish called sweet water fish from springs and the rivers and those are the only circumstances I will eat it but still not to often then.

  • Heather, please continue bringing awareness to us, non-vegans/vegeterians, about our choices.

It's all about "our choices", nobody has to be forced to do anything they don't want to, that's why I believe knowledge is the key.

  • Sadly, we live in polluted world whether we swim in the sea or breathe the air. I think we're either at a point or fast approaching a point where what is truly 'healthy' is becoming a grey area, regardless of whether the pure form of the food is or is not.

  • WELL PUT SOME GARLIC LEMON AND GINOS SAUCES GOOD FOR YOUR CULOS PEOPLEOS GOOD CULO.
