Hey, I'm seeing a lot of negative comments on Dundee as a city on a lot of videos about Dundee. Just wondering; is it really that bad? I'm thinking of studying in Dundee next year, so It'd be great to hear some views about Dundee. Anyone? :)
i'm chinese, born in Canada and i'm applying to St. Andrews Med school this year. I know dundee is very close to st andrews and i want to know are people there unfriendly to chinese people from china or to anyone who looks chinese. Also, is the racism isolated to dundee or is it present all across scotland or the uk?
@TheAce1082 there isn't a lot of racism in the united kingdom actually. it isn't like russia or like...idk.. they're pretty chill about it. just as long as your friendly and nice, like in all other places. but in my experience Scottish people are more friendly than English....but that's just fact. lol

You wont find racist remarks in Dundee. Being from Dundee I might have a biased perspective on that, however, I have a lot of friends and colleagues who are from elsewhere. Be mindful, especially those of you whom are English. Scotland isn't England, it is a different way of life up here in some ways. Just as if you went to France and it was different, it is also true for Scotland. If you come here and respect us and our culture, we will respect you and your culture back.
i go here, it's a really nice university and i've never heard anything racist. its a friendly campus and has a good community spirit. there are people from all backgrounds but never heard of people having bother or being spoke to horribly

There is man who works at the Division of Mathematics at the University of Dundee called Dr. David Griffiths who likes the company of young boys. Disgusting!
I would like to warn Chinese students who are currently studying at the University of Dundee to be very careful when speaking to University staff. The staff at the University of Dundee are deeply racist towards Chinese students, in particular, and the city of Dundee has seen several attacks against Chinese (and other colored) students in the past few years. Also, the academic standing of this university is low & Chinese students should not consider coming here.

I know for a fact that Chinese students have been verbally abused at the University by their own lecturers, but it wouldn't surprise me if other non-white students have suffered the same fate. Also, one of the three vice principals at the University has regularly used the word "Chink" to describe a female lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University. Behind her back, of course.
and by the way, it's not all equal in london, i've been there and heard loads of racist things, dundee uni is actually a very highly regarded uni and i feel you missed out listening to people who don't know the uni first hand.
@Kiddie1991 i agree. ignorant people occur in every city in the world, don't class the whole city as racist because of a bad experience with 1 idiot. many people come to dundee every year to study and are very happy to be here.
