Heyy be nice now this is my band teacher for Pitts Middle School YHU ROCK MR B!!!!!!!!!! YHU KEEP DOING YHUR THING !~!!~!~! FROM RUSSELL BROOK DEENA && CYLEST!!!!
Just came across Stu's version and began looking at others. Have to say this is by far the best version I have heard. I have only been playing bass about 5 years. I would love to get the Tab and Notation for this. There are a lot of techniques in there that would be good lessons for me. Email: chaplain_nash@juno.com. Thanks...it was terrific.

Just saw this. Outstanding. Even though it would certainly stretch my skill levels I'd love to get a copy of the tab and / or notation for this arrangement. Where could I find that?
I'd suggest trying (if you haven't already) any type of bass with a piezo system before you buy one. Truth be told, I'm not all that fond of the piezos. My favorite pickup combination is 2 stacked humbuckers. Thick, buttery bass is delivered without a bunch of mid-range racket.
Yeah I feel ya, but with enough peizo blended on this stingray Ive messed around with quite a few times just gets a certain timbre I cant achieve other basses. But when it comes down to it, I just want a damn Carvin =/
Right on, then I totally suggest getting one as soon as you can. I'm a shameless Carvinite! I love the playability of mine (2 fretted and one fretless) There's usually quite a selection on e-bay. Some dang nice basses. 'Course, it's always nice to have one built just right. You won't be sorry when you get one.
awsome, man. that is totally awsome. the drummer in my band made a bet with me that i couldn't learn this, but after seeing it played, i think i'll bet against myself!!
Having read all the comments, it's nice to see (and hear) what talent plus hard work equals. Hearing that also puts me one step closer to ordering me a new Carvin.
I listened to Stu Hamm's version... over and over and over and over... then I listened some more. Then I went out and bought the piano music so that I could visualize how Vince did it (I'm a visual learner.) Then, it was time to sit down. I learned each hand separately, then referred to the sheet music so I could see which notes happen together and which notes alternated. Then I got frustrated and cussed a lot. It just took a lot of focused time commitment, and a lot of patience.
wow! dat'z soooooooooo kewl!!!! can you, like, play any rock muzik, though? Linus and Lucy is kewt and all dat, but I think electric guitars should be used more for rock, you know? or jazz
I play enough piano to be a certified total amateur. I started on it when I was 5, learned to read and all. 32 years later, I still believe learning piano was so important to becoming a musician.
i totally agree. i started on piano for about 4 months, joined the school band playing trombone, 2 years later heard toxicity, picked up a guitar and its been that ever since.
I've had a few students with a model similar to that. They sound and feel great, no doubt about it. It's a bass I recommend to players just about any time.
I did it reaaaaaaallll slow.... (like.. 40 bpm on the metronome to keep myself regulated and focused) and over and over and over and over and over... and then some cussing, and then over and over and over.....
no problem. If you're the visual-type learner, I have this thing notated and tabbed out, that way you can see the timing and alternation between hands.
Hey, spoon!! I don't know if I ever got back to you on the tabs. I may have still been working on them when you posted the comment. If you still want the tabs, send me a message.
Learning this song was an exercise in itself. Other than that, there are a few books from berklee press on two handed workouts. Real short exercises, and a $6 book. As far as this tune, tho... I just had to grind it out. Took a couple of months to really get the basics of it.
Wow! You beat a lot of guitar players taking a shot at Lucy and Linus´, a piano piece. I love (the late great) Vince Guaraldi's work you are doing one hell of a great hommage! Thanks 4 posting!
The 6 stg is from 1993, the 4 stg is about 4 years old. I called to order them. Someday, I'll take a trip to California to have a really special one built after I play every one on the wall of the showroom.
All of the videos I've posted are using my Carvins. Linus and Lucy and Norwegian Wood are done on my CW70P, which has the H50S humbucker and an Alnico Pickup. It took a while to get used to the brighter sound of this bass. "Red Fox" and "The Forgotten, Part I" were done with my old LB70, which came stock with 2 H50S humbuckers. It's my favorite slappin bass, it's "Darker" sounding to my ears.
very cool .. 5 stars frrom me .. the only thing i'd say is .. it would be cool if the hook was less sticatto. maybe utilize some slides and hammer / pulls rather than straight tapping. overall .. very awesome ..
I have just listen to 5 or 6 differant versions of this song done on the bass including Stuart Hamm's outstanding work and I have to say yours is the best one I've heard. I've been a fan of Vince Guaraldi's work for years and this is my favorite song by him. Keep up the good work.
Nice recreation of the Hamm arrangement-- and on top, you managed to find a tone that sounded great for both the bottom end and the higher notes. What gauge strings? Great job.
Perfect! I was most impressed by the even quality of your dynamics and volume & your Carvin sounds fantastic! I would love to hear you play this with a band or even a drum machine.
I used to do this with a jazz group. My friend Mike would lay in the nicest "George Benson" style guitar line, it was really tasty. When I recorded it, I actually had a utility drum loop in the headphones, just to keep myself true.
I'm using an even mix of the neck (H50-N Stacked Humbucker) and bridge (Alnico Humbucker) pickups.
