    :)

  • @GeedanUK I have applied. I've heard back from 3 of my choices, but still no reply from Edinburgh :'( I applied to MA Spanish/Portuguese/EU Studies..... What about you?

  • @amosbcfamos Nice, I am actually learning Portuguese (Brasilian) at the moment. Applied for MA (pure) Economics possibly joined with SCANDINAVIAN studies.

What are your other 4 choices? Mine are: Royal holloway, Bristol, Glasgow & St. Andrews (would do anything to get into scottish uni as tuition fees would be waved; I'm applying as a E.U student -gangsta huh?)

oi tudo bem? ah ah ah!

  • w0w

  • SO.

    WANT.

    TO.

    GO.

  • Fingers crossed I get in here! Can't picture myself anywhere else! Amazing University, globally yet at the heart of the world!

  • My high school grade average is 8 / 10 ( 10 grade system ), will I be accepted without a problem ?

  • Guy with a lollipop, lol. :D

  • I love too....so proud of being a Edinburgh student...

  • @kaiser2cu i envy you for being able to attend the edinburgh uni!

    :/

  • I went to Edinburgh Uni, awesome Uni! on the downside, I didn't meet many Scots... they were mostly English kids from independent schools...

  • @jezzaroche How does your brother respond about this university? How are the people there?

  • For wealthy people. I have to find a shitty job to help my parents repay their debt..

  • ahh i want to go there ! but living in toronto it makes it really hard, i still have 2 years to decide but im set on here

  • Looks sooooooooooo Good!!!

  • Planning on going there for my Masters! Great school and I hope I get in! :D

  • my friend is going there next year! :)

  • Got an offer from Edinburgh and Imperial College. I don't no which one to choose.

  • @davidfof13 Edinburgh!

  • shite hawk

  • Thing is with top unis like edinurgh, the courses they offer there like classical studies. Whats the point!? Seriously whats the point in learning an overly complex course like quantum physics if u can take a course that will actually get u somewhere

  • I live in Edinburgh it is a great city. I have a blog with a lot of information on what there is to do here please have a look if your ineterested.

  • can someone who are studying or have studied biology in edinburgh contact me? Thanks:))

  • American Uni's have nothing on European

  • sold...now how to get the grades to get in ?

  • Charles Darwin studied here....

  • I wish I could go there and just study every single subject they have.

Alas, my mom will make me go somewhere local more than likely.

  • @saidamanda How is it your mum's choice?

  • @ZooLogicUK She and my dad would be the ones paying! xD

  • Wow This Uni is so Awesome...I wish if I can study at it :( but thts just a dream T.T

  • Not trying to be a smart arse bitch here, but at 03:43 you've put mind's and machine's. Plurals don't need apostrophes. Just thought you should know as you're advertising an institution for higher education. Hope it helps.

  • I really want to go to this uni, here's hoping I get the grades!

  • hey, tulioigor96, you are damn right

  • That Carla looks bored as fuck :|

  • They're lying to you. Most of your teachers won't have that awesome Scottish accent you hear at the beginning.

  • Where are most of the teachers from?

  • @TRXforces Bah, all over the place, I've had professors from the US, Brazil, Greece, France, Ukraine, British (with non-scottish accents), Italy, just to name a few... It's a _really_ international environment, at least in my course (Computer Science).

  • Good old Jose Torero! Great lecturer, but expect your classes to be a bit like an episode of Jerry Springer......

  • In my opinion european universities are way better than american universities.

  • @tulioigor96 Why are they better than American universities?

  • @UseAsDirected100 Well doesn't that depend on what kind of course you're into? American universities focuses on their students being broad - UK universities at least (dunno the other ones) are much more specific in their requirements.

As they say, US unis want people who does everything.

UK unis want people who would "live and die" for their subjects.

    It's a matter of preference.

  • @tulioigor96 That's very broad. USA is home to lots of world's best universities. it has some crap ones, but Europe has crap ones too. Especially in Spain!

  • @MultiBrados

the bad thing about US universities is that you have to pay SO freakin much, you pay your debt back for the rest of your life. and i don't think education is that much better in ALL the fields, you know?

I go to University of Vienna and I've been told by various professors (we have profs from both the UK and the US) that the English department at UV is so much stricter/harder than e.g. in the US or in UK. So... I think it depends on the subject you're studying, really.

  • I plan on going there during my Master's just cause of the accent xD

  • @saliri20 Haha me too!

  • @tulioigor96 thats for sure!i love my Edinburgh University!

  • Aghh, need to wait one more year... Will hopefully be studying an MA in Scandinavian Studies with Linguistics from September 2010.

I already have enough qualifications thankfully and at least I have plenty of time to improve upon my Norwegian. :)

  • why not come to Norway??

    Your most welcome.. :)

    cheers :)

  • I can vouch that the Scandinavian Studies department at Edinburgh are awesome. I'm doing Norwegian this year and it's definitely been worthwhile :]

  • Excellent, Norwegian is the one I plan on doing!

You guys using Ny i Norge btw? I managed to get a hold of it and the audio and might dip into it soon but doing a French Open U course right now which is eating up my time a bit! Need to do some more qualifications before I can get a place though, since at 22 I am classed as a mature student...

  • Awe, awesome! :D

We do indeed use Ny i Norge ^^.

Apparently it's the most popular it has ever been (just goes to show how awesome Norway is!) However I don't see why you wouldn't get a place. You seem very keen, which is great for a start and you already know some of the language, am I right? I managed to get in having had no previous knowledge of Norwegian but a higher in French. So it would be most unfair!

  • Norway is indeed awesome, I'm half Norwegian myself and love visiting there!

I can speak a fair bit but unfortunately the beaurocracy is holding me back as they seem to think if you haven't exercised your mind in learning a new qualification after you turn 21, then your brain must have melted out through your ears...

I'll just have to put up with it, it'll be worth the wait and at least it means I can hone my study skills for a foreign language.

How's the history element of it?

  • Half Norwegian? Awesome ^^

Deary me, that's just ridiculous. It's not like being 21 makes you old or anything. I'm sure the older guy in my year was penalised too for similar reasons but he is just as good as the rest of us, if not better. I'm glad though that it's not put you off :).

I reckon you'd probably be put in 1B so there's a chance you might get more than I've had. We've just started national romanticism and folk tales, which has been very interesting to say the least.

  • Would someone be able to send me a link or tell me where to find the subjects that are available? I've tried the website but i cant seem to find it. I'm interested in film and photography, I'm thinking things like this but I want to know what else there is.

  • I would order a prospectus from the website.

  • Economics and Law; Looking forward to it as much as you guys are! xD

  • I'll be there this autumn, too. Computer Sciences and Physics :) see you there

  • Physics? I may very well see you there also, then! :)
