Excellent Kris. We teach our students also to learn to hook the ball first, and as you said, the importance of a rounded golf swing is essential to doing so. Getting the hands to rotate into impact passively as you suggest or even actively is imperative for this to happen. The right foot back restricts the pivot from getting too far out in front and spilling the beans too soon leading to over acceleration. Good stuff!
