2:40 to pharaphrase...'if we cut taxes and close loopholes the economy will expand and revenue to Feds will increase, right?' 'Yup' says Dr. CBO. Gee that sounds like what somebody called Voodoo economics! If thats what it takes fine, get me a Milton Friedman voodoo doll.
Fight hard Senator Toomey. Was my Senator, the Honorable 'Mom in Tennis shoes' Patty Murray paying attention during this part of the hearing?
@publiusforum Toomey didn't eviscerate him, he simply asked pointed questions, knowing basically how Elmendorf would answer. Elmendorf is a good guy it seems, and he must be non-partisan as the head of the CBO. Now, if you were saying Toomey and Elmendorf were EVISCERATING Keynsian, govt stimulus, deficit spending BS...yes they were!
@atnguy Have to disagree. Elmendorf was attempting to support those Keynesian ideas by giving them legitimacy. Toomey shot them all down. And Elmendorf's budget doublespeak about when things were measured was an attempt to dodge Toomey's straight forward (and correct) analysis that entitlement spending is NOT flat, but tremendously up.Still, I'll agree that Elmendorf did answer those questions truthfully in the end.
elmendorf: well war is peace and slavery is freedom. you know that right?
