I've got a pendant songstone ocarina with 4 holes. Also bought on a medieval festival. I think its still kinda hard to produce a nice sound out of it. So good job :3
I just got a four holer at a renissance festival, there not that bad, but I wouldn't mind an extra octave. I'll see how I like it then consider buying a "better one" A question, is $20 "fair" for a clay four holer? That's what I paid, I thought it was a good deal.
@wefdsau Depends on how good it is and more importantly, what it's worth to YOU! I just paid about $40 for my 5-hole, but it was custom made. I've seen them go anywhere from $10 up for good ones, so I'd say $20 is pretty good, especially if you like it. :)
@wefdsau Not from a fair like that unless you like the way it looks. You can find a decent quality 4-6 hole for $10-15. A good one for around 40-50. If it has sentimental values or you like the look then yes. It is worth it. Many Zelda fans pay extra cash for Zelda themed ones. I will $50 for one soon since I love the look and the quality is not bad. If not for the Zelda title it would be worth only about $20. If it is good for what you want (sound or looks) then its worth it.
I got it at a medieval faire in my hometown. The guy who makes them travels a lot, so if you have medieval faires where you live, you might keep an eye out for him. :3
Don't wanna sound as an asshole, but if the Ocarina is so good, why didn't you post a video of yourself playing it, or is it that you don't have videocamera?
I've got a six-hole one of these, and it has the same wonky tuning that I'm hearing here... I can compensate reasonably well with good breath control but it's still a little frustrating at times. But I do like the tone quality.
Good job. I just bought one a few days ago, I think it takes a little more talent to make your songs sound like the replica's from "Legend Of Zelda" with a 4-hole as the range is much smaller then the ones most people are playing.
Not to say that this is easier to play, because I am sure the ones with more ranges/holes obviously are - but its to say that it's harder to match songs without all the ranges this one has compared to others.

Do you know if this ocarina has "flats" and "sharps"?
carlosbettanin 1 year ago
@carlosbettanin It does, but you have to halfway cover the appropriate hole to do it.

I think pendents are great to start on :D i personally like the transverse (sweet potato), I just got it quite recently. (improved range)
but some ppl only like pendents, and they are also relatively cheap :D
kyleismrsmiley 3 years ago
I prefer transverse ocarinas, but this was my first ocarina, and I really love it. XP

I didn't have a videocamera at the time, and now that I have one, my mom has issues with me posting videos of myself, otherwise I would.

I kinda understand, since nowdays you can't troust no one anymore.

Sorta. It's stone clay, sorta like cement, but natural rock instead of the weird stuff cement is made of.
