What I like about these shows is the heart felt performances. When you go to a concert, I often feel the artists have done this umpteen times, daily, nightly and I think the heart is often lost.
Melanie sounds amazing, she has an amazing voice, but i could tell throughout the competition, that sometimes she did seem a little cocky and self centered but was holding it back when she was on stage.
No one has ever sang this song like her! Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis, Charice Pegpenco ... None of them have sang this song as impressive as her! She always reach the high notes! You should not make comparisons with other people as "Glee Girls" or "failed Singers"

There were plenty of winners and solo alumni of 10 seasons of American Idol, Idol worldwide, X factor worldwide but only very very few survive or last in the music industry today. Melanie Amaro - As Paula said "her voice is like fine China". She's good singer but what I regret about her is that wish she had bigger voice. She sang "Man in the Mirror and "Will you be there okay for me because she had no bigger notes in the chorus of the songs - that's what L.A. Reid talks about when he comment. If she win, I believe she won't sell lots of albums because she's like Alexandra Burke on imaging and voice, not like Leona Lewis for me.
She's ok but there's some parts I felt she's a bit off. There's always room for improvement. I saw Leona's too. Leona edges her on this because leona had better control of her voice.
Leona Lewis is good but her sound does not have this depth at all. Leona dosen't even have the tonal quality as Whitney. Comparing her to Leona is not a stretch. She's better.
Whitney wishes she could sing like this again... It is really easy to try and compare to Whitney because we already know the exact notes she should be singing. Don't get me wrong I always liked Whitney but she cannot sing anymore and that was a choice she made.... I think we have someone here that we will be able to enjoy for many years to come. I hope this girl becomes very famous and hope to God that she is given great music to sing.
Everyone's praising this performance, but what about 0:34. Unbelievable mistake. Understandable, because the enormous difficulty of the song... but there was absolutely nothing good about that voice crack. Possibly the most important part of the song, at least for Melanie, because it's the moment when we, as an audience, are supposed to believe that she can get through the rest of the song. I was on the edge of my seat for the rest of the performance, and not in a good way.
It's her emotion and the intensity she gives when she sings this song, that makes this performance spectacular. She did it justice. It's about the feeling

it's funny you all say, that she sang this song horribly, but let me tell you look how the judges react compared to the other contestants and the crowd, you are all jealous she sang it beautifully, that screaming is singing, listen to all kinds of other music... the screaming/yelling puts more emotion into the song, she has a loud and powerful voice and thats how it should be not a little low tiny voice you can't hear.
She messed up the first big note and was slightly off on a couple of other big ones but still amazing. Agree with the whitney comparisons too, similar voices.
Melanie technically is superb. She sings this song in a higher key than most of Whitney Houston's live performances of this song. Impressive. Also Melanie holds her note longer and stronger than Whitney in her live concerts. Melanie does this song really close to Whitney's original recorded version that Whitney herself never replicated in her own live performances.
But Melanie lacks her own original style... she is like another Whitney wannabe.
I've listened to literally hundreds of singers in my life and you don't know shit about them would be my estimation of your ability to discern talent.

I hate how everyone is saying that this is her worst performance and that she was pitchy, when in reality she missed ONE note and the rest was AMAZING.
It's a shame how she has a 'mentor' who doesn't truely believe in her. I don't know if they're just putting on a show...but it's unfair to Melanie for him to be so discouraging & harsh on her, esp when we the public WANT to hear her sing. How could Simon criticise an A+ performance?! It's an honor to get to hear her sing! I really like this perfromance. But when she hit the chorus, she became so pitchy. Obsere 0:35 - 0:37 and 1:06 - 1:07. It seems like she was shouting.

it's funny you all say, that she sang this song horribly, but let me tell you look how the judges react compared to the other contestants and the crowd, you are all jealous she sang it beautifully, that screaming is singing, listen to all kinds of other music... the screaming/yelling puts more emotion into the song, she has a loud and powerful voice and thats how it should be not a little low tiny voice you can't hear.

Melanie technically is superb. She sings this song in a higher key than most of Whitney Houston's live performances of this song. Impressive. Also Melanie holds her note longer and stronger than Whitney in her live concerts. Melanie does this song really close to Whitney's original recorded version that Whitney herself never replicated in her own live performances.
But Melanie lacks her own original style... she is like another Whitney wannabe.

It's a shame how she has a 'mentor' who doesn't truely believe in her. I don't know if they're just putting on a show...but it's unfair to Melanie for him to be so discouraging & harsh on her, esp when we the public WANT to hear her sing. How could Simon criticise an A+ performance?! It's an honor to get to hear her sing! If it weren't because she needs publicity to become famous, I'd be glad to see her leave willingly and kick the show to the curb to move on to start working on an album asap.

amazing yes of course the song calls for some rather harsh notes but her vibrato and pitch are amazing. simply loved it. another Leona Lewis in the making, just go back and look at the begining of Leona on her X factor and how Simon developed her. Melanie you are beatufiul in all ways.

I kind of agree...she WAS better than Stacy. However, even the ones who don't make it thru the entire show have the chance to get signed with someone and have a chance. Drew, Stacy, Rachel, Astro, Josh and Chris ALL have a chance. Someone with some intelligence in the music industry will grab on to whoever's left if they're smart and get them where they need to be. I would buy CD's from everyone who made it this far. Just incredible talent!

Thats because Simon was thinking with his Little Simon and not with the brain above his shoulders. I just hope that they don't shove this girl to the side simply because she's not some brainless sexpot who tries to use her sexuality instead of her talent (Simone!). He may not consider her "Pretty" enough to be marketable. It's such a stupid industry where looks seem more important than talent, although I think she's very, very pretty. Tia wasn't bad, just POORLY managed with her song choice.

Again, because Simon was thinking with his lower regions. I think Melanie is beautiful & an amazing talent. However, because the music industry is CRUEL to women who are chunky, not considered traditionally attractive or who otherwise don't fit into a certain niche, she might never reach the fame she deserves. This girl could be the next Whitney or Beyonce. Or even better...she could just be HERSELF because she's a force to be reckoned with & they're idiots if they can't see her for what she is.

There was only ONE pitchy note, compare this with Leona Lewis who had many pitchy notes in her LOWER register notes.....Also, Melanie has a much richer quality to her voice than Leona (L can sound a little thin at times)...She has the richness that Whitney used to have (there is a sad tale!!)...NO- great voice, humble and a great career ahead of her this one!!!
