The plank to which they were running on was quite narrow. I dont think it would have been possible for people to run side by side on them.  Having said that, I think the globe trotters should have respected the fact that sam and dan were ahead of them and as such should have extended the courtesy of letting them get to the end first. Yes, this is a race, but it is no excuse to be rough and discourteous.
