The last part about mainlanders 'overtaking' Hong Kong is somewhat true. Just a week ago, TVB was just talking about how pregnant women from China choose to have their child in Hong Kong. That way, the child will have residency. However, this is ticking off the people who living in Hong Kong because the 'mainlanders' are using their resources (ie. hospitals). I'm a frequent visitor to HK and I totally understand HK people's frustrations.The mainlanders are not so refined, I'd would be driven up the wall too if my homeland is swamped by the mainlanders. Not to mention their super buying power that drive prices up for everything in the already expensive HK. On the other hand, HK also rely on the mainlandersto fuel their economy. But if they get into political problem, consular in HK cannot help them.
For HK dogs (Chinese citizens who do not want to be Chinese),
we treat them with tolerance. There is no urgent need to whip or kill these dogs.

After 150 years of being dogs, we did not expect them to change in this generation, i.e 20 years.
HK residents of non-Chinese decent are quite stuck here, they are welcome into Chinese family.

As from 1997, HK residents of Chinese decent automatically became Chinese citizens. Crux is that it just put history back into perspective.
Beijing accepts dual citizenship for people in HK somewhat. Chinese citizenship is guaranteed until the person denounces it.

there are some 4 incidents lately that may blow up the top. Milk power, expectant mothers, D&G, MTR eating incident. In every incident, HK dogs' complaints have been weak. But, as the occurance of incidents escalate, nobody cares who is right or wrong anymore. The city is on fire.
It is just another civic lesson all Chinese will learn. 10 years ago, I would stay longer in HK, these days, there is nothing in HK that I cant get from mainland or Asia with my travel dollars.
