The text was written by Emanuel Schikaneder as the original plan was a puppet show based on the original tale of Lulu by Liebeskind. First performed in Sep 30th 1791, 2 months before Mozarts death. Papageno finds her after scaring off the moor and assures her she will soon be rescued.....He wishes love like that too...Pamina consoles him and says Bei Mannern welche Liebe fülen, fehlt auch gutes Herze nicht. (The kindly voice of mother nature wakes love in bird and beast and flower)......Magic
Pamina is sung by Ibolya Verebics, Papageno is László Polgár. He died yesterday, 19th Sept 2010.
He is very young here, rather a baritone than a bass. Later he sung Leporello, Osmine, Rocco, Sparafucile, Colline, Marke, Gurnemanz, Hunding, Gremin. One of the greatest artist of our time.
@brunnhildeH Laszlo Polgar war mein beliebter Sänger. Danke für die Information, ich wusste nicht, dass er starb. Sein Leporello und andere Rollen waren faszinierend.
It's simply amazing how humanly divine (yes, no oxymoron in use) sound in German this opera. Mozart did the most rightful thing to use his own native language.
beautiful voices
