Sealy commits to one direction because he knows that after moving his pivot foot Jordan legally has no choice but to go that direction since it would be a travel otherwise. The flaw in that plan, of course, is that Jordan was immune to rules.

If he didn't shift his pivot foot, it wouldn't be a travel, but he still would have done the exact same half-spin that dropped Sealy. As it was, the only thing Jordan unfairly gained was a few inches in distance away from Sealy that didn't even benefit him since Sealy was already on the ground and unable to contest his shot.
