LoL!!! I know how to do that as well, but i thought this technique would be better in more situations. I apologize, I made this video a while ago, I will make a new one soon, that will work with the 2.5 series and will be more condensed.

1. Can I control when it starts/ends in the animation?

2. Can I move it to any spot?

yes. to tell it when to start/end use the start and end frames on the left under the particle system basic thing

yes. to move it just move the cube wherever you want.

and also use the acceleration direction to tell it which way to go.its under physics under global effects (down)
