  • I usually hit the D before the Bb instead of plucking.

  • alright man, cheers for vid. im getting there with this one slowly but surely,

any advice on the tappin bit of the riff?, its still tricky for me!

  • Thank you so much for this video! I've never been able to figure out how to play this and I ended up sorta making my own version with a slap, left hand, pluck kinda pattern. This will help me a lot and probably many others.

  • super

  • Legend!

  • Hey what's your EQ like? I can play this song just fine but for some reason I cannot get a decent sounding EQ for that song! Hit me up:)

  • @TheGroovemaker1 In this video all I'm doing is putting both pickups all the way up and putting the tone knob about middle so it' not muffled but not super-clear. It all depends on the bass. Generally for the best slap tones on a bass you want the pickup balance to be in the middle (using both pickups equally). Your bass eq should be up and about even with your treble (again, all depending on your gear). Normally you would also want to cut your mids but how much is up to you. Hope that helps!!

  • Yo I know Vic Tunes his Basses Differently is this one just Standard tuning? (e,a,d,g) or is it (a,d,g,c)?

  • @11rfpro It's standard.

  • wierd thumb

  • Great men, really good!! :)

  • Great video dude ^^

    But i got a question.

Just after you play A on the E string (and before the B flat) ther's no pop on the G string ?

    Just a slap on E string ?

  • Awesome of you for posting this video ! Thanx : )

  • hey man i got a question: the slaps you do are both on the same string (G) I can't see precisely on what strings you pop and pluck

  • @coolin240 It varies. I generally do all the pops on the G but when I do the double-pop (I guess that's what you'd call it) with my index and middle finger I sometimes pop the G and D (my middle finger on the D, my index in the G)

  • good job partner! 5/5

  • Nice man! I'll practice this song later! Congrats for this vid!

Btw... I have one of these Squier JBVM too! It's a great bass!

  • I just learned that thanks to you brother.

    Thanks a lot !

    Great job

  • Tahnk you very much! =)

  • Now if you can do the singing, i will will WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY IMPRESSSSSSSS, NEDLESS TO SAY I"M ALLREADY IMPRESS, I CAN NEVER SING AND PLAY SOMETHING LIKE THIS AT THE SAME TIME

  • @Th3Boondocks just practice it ist not that hard

if you can forget about playing and just think about singing its doable

  • Thank You so much, I can play this song and it sounds like vic now! it never was in any of his books. I spent about 1 hour to a metronome and it's ticking along nicely. The left tap, slap, pluck is why I never got it. I never got that in my muscle memory from any other wooten song.

  • I have same bass, but definetely not same fingers :D ....I absolutely didnt get how did you play that? :)

  • dude i got a quesiton how do u mute ur slap when ur other hand is doing the notes?

  • @EseeeDarwin As soon as I tap the note with my left hand, I immediately use the same hand to mute the strings for my right hand to pop. Does that make sense?

  • @andyfen0 yessss!! at first i didnt get it but when i tried it its made alot of sence thank you

  • very helpfull.. but you need to go thru it even slower to sho how the ghost note ryhthem goes,, i am having trouble with figuring out.. please help..

  • @jeffharper47 Which ghost note rhythm are you talking about? If you can point out where in the video it occurs I can try to explain it.

  • Good stuff bro. Nice playing and really nice instructions, cheers

  • Good lesson, but in the main riff (not the harmonics riff), there's an open D note that you don't do (listen carefully).

  • very very good work man, very helpful!! Thanks to you!!

  • hi.. just one thing that you forgot.. in the main groove, wooten uses harmonics with the thumb/pluck. just listen a little more the song.

  • @mauriciosouzaleite you are absolutely right. My apologies.

  • @andyfen0 oh.. no problems! sorry for the hostility in the first post, it wasn't my intention.. the video is great, thanks for the help with the music ;) God bless you
