For all of you talking about seat belts, you should read the actual news article. The kids were special needs and therefore were properly restrained with seat belts on the bus. It's not a matter of seat belts with this accident, it's the fact that TWO dump truck drivers made an extremely stupid and fatal decision to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid an accident instead of swerving to the right.

The first truck clipped the bus causing it to roll on it's side while the second truck hit the bus, from the looks of it in the top which is not a very strong part of the bus. Seat belts don't prevent deaths all the time, but paying attention to the road while you're driving does.

I too knew Kale. He was an awesome kid and will be greatly missed. What a tragic accident that would have never happened if they would outlaw the use of mopeds on highways. What a sad week in White County Indiana. Heaven gained 4 beautiful Angels.

I have even seen tv commercials with law officers saying that there are no excuses or exceptions for not wearing a seatbelt and that it saves lives.

Although, mention this( install seatbelts ) to your school board and see how many excuses you receive.

You will be surprised.

I have even heard one say " do you know how much this could cost"....?

I thought seatbelt importance was about saving lives, not the cost!

Who even cares how much, if it can save childrens lives install them now! !

My point is that seatbelts help to save lives. There is a huge safety campaign throughout the states making all of us aware of the importance of useing seatbelts and with the moto"click it or ticket".

Now just maybe our governments truely care about our lives, or they wish to make money from our bad habits and give us tickets for not wearing them.!?

If all children wear them they will have a better chance.

If you look at the amount of damage the school bus took, seatbealts would not have made much of a difference since the bus looked like it had been placed through a meat grinder.

I have a deep belief that if seatbelts were mandatory on school buses as they are in our cars, trucks and every other vehicle and used properly that saving lives or injuries in school bus crashes would be well worth the investment, just as the blinking lights or swing out stop sign. I think many state's and local jurisdiction's should stop making excuses for not implementing this very simple safety method and begin to retrofit and install seatbelts now!

My nephew was on that bus and let me tell you he was not a "tard" as you put it but a sweet loving little boy that did not deserve to die. They were all beautiful bright children that did not deserve this...have a heart and try not to be judgemental! Maybe one day when you have children you will realize that no matter how they are born they are truly special in every way to you no matter how they turn out! GROW UP LOSER!

Another good reason for an enhanced seatbelt law that should include seatbelts for these buses in the event of a terrible crash. Without seatbelts the children go airborn and suffer trauma. I understand some states have seatbelts on their school buses.

Mention this( install seatbelts ) to your school board and see how many excuses you receive.
