What MAKKA and MADINA need is more of world class transportations systems, including undergroung rail system to convey people from airports to to Haram and other holy sites at a reasonable cost .

interesting, I think to make ease of ppl/person performing Hajj / Umra is one of the priorities, for the Saudis must be very complex logistics project, the only issue i have -are the architects Muslim / non-muslim ie norman foster ? also when designing surrounding buildings/environment should respect size/scale and proportion to the Ka'ba as it appears to dwarf, and look into alternative technologies to improve - overall some interesting concepts MashaAllah / IshaAllah.
i think the holy ground should remine the way it is. With all the const involve for sure the cost of going to Haji or Umra will go up. Which to me is shit coz Allah (SWT) asked us to pray not to pay so much just to do it. The place itself like that, is already the most beautiful place on earth. Alhamdullilah Allah(SWT) allowed my wife and I to visit His Holy House in 2009. The best trip of my life and inshallah I get the opportunity to go again. Could the people with envy and hasad please tell me using authentic hadith and Quran why putting up hotels to allow pilgrims to view this beautiful place and make there stay easier is haram or disliked. Furthermore, do people think that Haram borders end at the walls of the mosque?
Due to these big shopping plazas , mostly people pass their costly time within these centers and go to Haram just for farz pray . Due to these tall buildings the diginity of Haram Minaars fell down . How shame it is for Muslim sitting in the hotel rooms and watching Haram from there but don't go there while they know they are there just for few days .O Muslim open your eyes and do that what Allah want from you .Enemy is reached into your home but u r still sleeping .
It was very easy to perform Umra and Hajj for every Muslim from the world even he/she had only few thousand rupees(example) but it makes more and more difficult for general public and one day will come when ONLY rich people could go for UMRA AND HAJJ because there will be no room for middle gentry .And Allah will ask them(stupid Arabs) .. just cite a single hadith or aayat that says watching kaaba from top is haraam or building skyscrapers is prohibited around Kaaba.there is no such prohibition in Islam regarding it, if is, then cite it. where will you live if you will come to perform hajj. skyscrapers require less ground area and can accomodate thousands more then buildings of just few floors covering the same area. And all signs of Qayamah are not bad as long as they are not prohibitted in Islam
What exactly is the point of building skyscrapers around Haram Sharif. I don't think it is a good idea to surround the holiest place in Islam with corporate skyscrapers. I agree with you but there is no point in building a seven star hotel. Not everybody can afford staying there so it serves against Islam's message of equality. I have no objection to building better facilities for pilgrims but building luxurious hotels and skyscrapers around Makah serves against Islam.

Yes, some of the minor signs are a big deal and a major fitna but by understanding that one of the biggest minor signs of quyammah was the emergence of the last prophet rasoolullah (swt) himself. I always thought that it was a huge deal that the building of tall buildings is a sign of quyammah was a big deal, but I spoke to a sheikh and he said something very interesting. The scholars have deduced that not all of the signs of the day of judgment are bad . Sometimes when rasoolullah (swt) says something about the end of time, people shouldnt always take it as a bad thing.
I think it is unrespectful against the Kaabah to build high buildings...the ottoman empire never build higher buiildings than the kaabah in mecca because of respect...
I would spend the money to gaaza instead of building glossy, high buildings like in NYC.

So to accomodate pilgrims near Makkah they have to make high skyscrapers!! please stop extrmism!!!! This is a sign of Qayamat but not a bad sign of qayamat!

I was responding to comments from Zoomy2008 which praises for modernity. I pointed out that one of the signs of the end of history as foretold by Nabi Muhammad S.W.S is that men will compete with one another to make high-rise building. So I tried to remind all Muslims to recognize the sign and be more steadfast in worshipping Allah S.W.T. alone! repent and don't get too carried away with deception which will destroy our iman! By the way they R studying an underground project hopefully it will be executed soon enough so the prices of the hotels near Ka'aba will go dawn and transportation between Arafat . Muzdalifa and Mena will be much easier and the Environmental pollution will be Reduced .

just cite a single hadith or aayat that says watching kaaba from top is haraam or building skyscrapers is prohibited around Kaaba.there is no such prohibition in Islam regarding it, if is, then cite it. where will you live if you will come to perform hajj. skyscrapers require less ground area and can accomodate thousands more then buildings of just few floors covering the same area. And all signs of Qayamah are not bad as long as they are not prohibitted in Islam

What exactly is the point of building skyscrapers around Haram Sharif. I don't think it is a good idea to surround the holiest place in Islam with corporate skyscrapers. This serves against Islam's message of simplicity and modesty. Muslims must show the world how great Islam is by being good Muslims and not building skyscrapers. Salaam.

I agree with you but there is no point in building a seven star hotel. Not everybody can afford staying there so it serves against Islam's message of equality. I have no objection to building better facilities for pilgrims but building luxurious hotels and skyscrapers around Makah serves against Islam.

You need to see the bigger picture. Deception have got many names, one of them is modernization. Any way it will happen because it is ordained, man will compete with one another to build high rise building. This is one of the many signs of the end of time as foretold by our beloved Nabi Muhammad S.A.W.S. but sadly many syariah scholars (not all) choose to look the other way.

Yes, some of the minor signs are a big deal and a major fitna but by understanding that one of the biggest minor signs of quyammah was the emergence of the last prophet rasoolullah (swt) himself. Now was that a bad thing? Or there will be a time when the whole world will become muslims and their will be no kufr or evil left (after isa ).

I always thought that it was a huge deal that the building of tall buildings is a sign of quyammah was a big deal, but I spoke to a sheikh and he said something very interesting. The scholars have deduced that not all of the signs of the day of judgment are bad . Sometimes when rasoolullah (swt) says something about the end of time, people shouldnt always take it as a bad thing.

I think it is unrespectful against the Kaabah to build high buildings...the ottoman empire never build higher buiildings than the kaabah in mecca because of respect...
I would spend the money to gaaza instead of building glossy, high buildings like in NYC.
