I gotta say that I understand the meaning of the song. You gotta stop waiting for the world to get better and ask people how they want to FEEL in a better world so they want to leave their comfort zones so they can make better comfort zones to sit in.
I don't see any singers with this kind of voice in the present and in near future also. I like songs and voice very much. Thanks for uploading these songs.
a wonderful song, the first time i ever heard it was on the day my family went to Elan Valley in mid wales to see the dams, and the song reminds me of that time every time i've heard it since, but untill now i havent heard it for a long time, thankyou youtube for bringing back memories of my childhood.
roger was a great guy-i worked for him in 1985 on his tour of the united states-he was a class act! and i remember thinking, man,i'm never gonnabe like that-some oldster playing music for oldsters-but there's nothing i'd rather do,now that i'm an oldster too-haha!
Please Don't allow this great Country to become a communist cess pool, I've seen communism first hand in Poland, ask them if they would like to revert back to the PERFECT form of government!
Its time to take charge of our New world order withe the criminals in jail, the theive on wall street, the crooks who robbed the poor. The thieves who plays on our weaknesses. Who promote the crimes of Hollywood, their dreams of turning our world into the dungens of their minds.
@maria610421 In essence, it is the left who seek to control our lives. Hollywood and the media are just their useful idiots. All Wall Street does is take what the govt mandates & works the system. Leftist gov forces banks to loan lemons, WS turns it into lemonade. People point to big business as the problem. Last time I checked, big business can't put a gun to your head and force you to do anything. The Govt OTOH, that's the way they operate. The more leftist, the more they seek to control
@MrTrashcan1 And the rightwing wants to control everyones private lives and dictate what we can read, write and listen to...The rightwing wants to cram fundamentalist religion down peoples throats....You guys are just as bad as the left
@floresebu There is a large fundamentalist presence in the Republican party, but the vast majority simply want smaller government intrusion into their lives. It's so funny how you bring up right wing intrusion, when it has never happened. The entire 20th century we've been heading down the path toward socialism and tyranny. Yes, there are some religious zealots, but the majority of conservatives simply want the government to GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR LIVES!
@floresebu Also, if you check you'll find that the left-wing entertainment industry is what is stopping you from listening to music. It is they who block copyrighted material. Mr. Obama and the left want to censor and control the internet to protect you from "incorrect" information. That sound like a leftist dicator to you perhaps? And the left is cramming secularism--trying to wipe out any sign of religion in the country.
Still dont think they dont control the world of music, and we are under mind control, still believe our elected Government serves the interest of the country or its people, continue in the dream world. People are disorganised and think only about today, but in reality just like the farmers have to plan and sow their crops so is humanity need to plan their lives in the real world, not the illusions of Wall Street or Hollywood they are distractions.
It can't, I can't be... hell, guess it is: I remember this song from my childhood. I loved it then and love it now... but man, when did I get this old?
@dennisjonkristensen Haha I know what you mean I have been listening to this kind of music since I was little, and everyone thinks that I am weird for liking it! But Hey Who cares!
@SpeedingBullet15 ya, I'm 17 now and I know this song from... I don't realy know, from when I was 5 or something... hm no I guess I know this song for as long as I live now, man I like this so much
I can smell that summer long ago when I first heard this. The style lovely women had that is now long outdated. I can still smell the grass, rain and river life of that park. I can't believe how time has past. In a blink of an eye so it seems.
Scary - all these folks talking of parents and grandparents. It was during my university years that first noticed Roger's work. The days when this and many of his fine early songs were "freshly minted".
Always a wonderful concert performer - at least he was - have not seen him live for 25-30 years.
If you like the thought provoking lyrics of early Roger - go hunt up some Eric Bogle - not as good a voice but his body of work is amazing - generally same vintage as Roger but wrote a lot more
When I was a kid my dad would constantly play his greatest hits tape in the car whenever he drove me to baseball practice, or long rides to the grandparents. Until lately I realize how awesome my dad and Roger Whittaker are!!
Love the picture at 1:58, he looks like a cross between James Bond and the renaissance, poet, adventuring man he was. Love this song, especially this version from the album I used to have and lost and cannot find anymore. : ( This man's music had a special kind of magic and spirit in it that appeals to all ages. I'll be shocked if talent and character like this are ever seen again in my lifetime. Thanks for posting. Good job.
Has anyone actualy studied the lyrics? If so you will realise what a load of crap they are! Music is good yes. But my 7 year old daughter could come up with better words without forcing it. It just makes no sense!.
@mikethekite1 It's about people who put of there dreams aside for the next morning, but later on in life they suddenly realize that they have no more "Mornings" left to accomplish their dreams. The moral: don't put aside for tomorrow for what you can do today.
Oooh, that sure brings back memories!!! My dad loved Roger Whittaker. He would always play R. W. on the cassette player in the car and I would sit there singing along... Maybe I'll have to buy The Golden Age of Roger Whittaker on CD now... :)
At 1:10 - "I met a man who had a dream he had since he was twenty/ I met that man when he was eighty-one/ He said too many people just stand and wait up til the mornin', Don't they know tomorrow never comes."
Thanks for putting up the version I grew up with! I was starting to despair of finding it. My mother used to play this from the "Greatest Hits" record all the time!
Thank you for finally finding the old original. My single is rather scratched. There must be a great live recording from that song in Rio de Janero from that year. Does someone know where to find it?
