  • 0:23 Lolz! I found this part very amusing! Cid enter the scene and just stole the spotlight from gabranth with just a push on the arm! hahah

  • Ashe was the only one comforting vann! it makes you wonder if she loves vann!

  • You can see by Reddas's action that the incident in Nabudis is something that he could never forget neither forgive himself, so he destroyied the source of the nethicite with his life. Now he can rest in peace and know that he did a good thing at the end.

    T.T

  • 6:31 WHAT THE HELL IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THOSE TWO?!?!?!?! It's driving crazy!

  • @Zolorocks4192 it drives everyone mad ;__;

  • @xlaxfleurx2342x I still don't know ;_;

  • @Zolorocks4192 I believe they are in a romantic relationship but I can never know for sure! D:

  • @xlaxfleurx2342x stpuid creators of Final Fantasy XII Not giving us the meaning of their relationship!!! >:<

  • @Zolorocks4192 DO YOU THINK THEY EVER WILL?

  • @xlaxfleurx2342x No...Cheep (SP?) bastards

  • @Zolorocks4192

I think they're just really, REALLY close friends. You know how best friends can be so close that they pretend to flirt with each other? I think it's a similar case...maybe.

  • @xXSpiritDreamerXx Thats a very good point

  • you gotta love Venat and Cid's relationship

  • Reddas T.T

  • Leave it to Square to make the cool characters go out with a cool exit.

  • Cid is the embodiment of the industrial revolution. Venat shows him how to manufacture nethecite, and with that knowledge he is able to call on summons. He can also use the stones as a power source to produce warships, guns, and armored vehicles. The Occuria think this is heresy since only they should have the knowledge to do these things. By helping Cid and the Empire produce these items, Venat at the very least gives a fraction of the human world some level of independence from the Occuria.

  • @Lordofthenipplerings I quite like this analysis. It made me think that he was more of a Prometheus figure, perhaps? Being handed the "fire" of nethicite that was never to be granted to man...the "rose of knowledge" as one of the Occuria called it, I believe. But the industrial revolution comparison works better I believe...what with the negative aspects of it as well that Cid characters may incorporate.

  • The manufacted nethicite kinda becomes a Poke Ball in this battle.

  • @kartkidchun Famfrit, I choose you! XD

  • wht actually happens when cid summons those orbs ??

i dint understand this part !! ??? help plz !

  • @clarice161 Baaasssicaallly, cid's got these "orbs" which contain ALOT of power, so he uses it to summon this monster called an esper to take on the group. Then you beat it and you gotta go against cid himself. When he dies, the sun cryst thing was already reacting to the orbs cid was using and it was gonna blow up because it was releasing lots of mist (which makes fran go all weird). I doubt i helped but yeah :)

  • @yunapaloza actually i understood about this scene long ago....lol

    thanks anyway :)

  • @clarice161 ahahaha XD Its okay lol

  • i love balthier ! love the way he talks in such a bold manner <3 :D

  • AWEE im currently playing this game D: im stuck in Veruvegan?? something lol

but but ill try to finish it

i love FRAN..shes soo smexy..*__* and Balthier *_*

i love the parallel partner relatioships of Cid and Venat's / Balthier and Fran's

both have partners...but both works in different ways o.o

    Cids Ebil...

  • I don't know why but somehow Doctor Cid looks gay in this cutscene at least at the beginning

"Enough of this! I can bare no more!"

  • @SigmaRidley You confuse homosexuality with regalement. True he's flamboyant and a bit mad, but that doesn't make him gay. He's just playing his part whole-heatedly.

  • I don`t why, but this reminds of Code Geass. Not the game, just how the story goes. They find some awesome power, they destroy it. Then deal with politics next.

  • 6:17 thats were all the balthier x fran fans go AAH *O* ! <3

    or atleast..i did..

  • I'm really into these cutscenes. They're Like a little movie......

  • love cid the best character in ff history

  • oh god. vaan you suck big time

  • It's crazy how much better this game is if you think of Balthier as the main character.

  • @fanficbug So true xD

  • 3:00 - mmmmmmmm, that's good ham!

  • I always give Famfrit to Balthier.

  • man, ff12 got voice acting right

  • Oh Cid, take me now.

It's not his fault he's hooked on methicite :)

  • I'm kinda sad Cid died... :(

  • 0:45 - 0:55 a true 'oh shit' moment lmao

  • Fran (my favorite character) Shows her best in this cutscene

    I LOVE YOU FRAN

  • Why is Vaan so bothered about Reddas dying? He hardly knew him.

  • Cid is sooo badass He looks like my science teacher!!!

  • @Slurp13 Oh yeah, to me he look like my boss

  • Your presence is neither welcome or necessary. Like it. ^.^

  • framran is that what cid says at 3:11 is that balthiers real name or somthing?

  • Yup.

  • @jrock0993 Ffamran is Balthier's name when he was a Judge

  • Yeah a jugde at the age of 20 lol

  • LOL. I love it when Gabranth tries to attack Cid, and after Venat dissapears Cid's jst standing there with a 'nice try' smile. Cracks me up!!

  • Yeah, it was so crazy when that happened!

  • Some say that Vaan is a useless character to the story, but i think without him the group wouldnt have met. Vaan sneaked into the palace->met fran and balthier->because of vaan's nethicite the trio crashes into the waterways where they met ashe->which is why they were put in jail and then the group met basch->and if it werent for penelo went missing (which is because penelo's associated with Vaan who were with Balthier) they wouldnt have met the future emperor of Archadia (Larsa)....

  • Loveee this scene^^

  • I, Judge Magister, Condemn you to OBLIVION!

    noooo, not Reddas!

  • wat lvl u need to be to beat him

  • lmao i just realised from this cutscene how annoying cid can be XD no wonder i was saying "will u shut the fuck up" most of the time

  • Dude this had the most Fran/Baltheir moments, love it!

  • ......Cid looks like my maths teacher......but he's WAY cooler, This scene makes me tear up Balthier is amazing!

  • Cid's death is utterly tearjerking. Balthier's animation on this bit is so beautifully nuanced, with the way his face just widens and saddens... It really humanizes him. And Gideon Emery does such a fabulous job with Balthier's lines. "Was there no other way?" always makes me tear up. This is far and away the best cutscene in the game, IMHO.

  • Aaaaaahhh. Cid and Reddas' deaths made (and make) me cry a lot. How sad is Balthier story, he lost his father (by his own hands, or something like that!!) and he didn't have time to convince him that he was in the wrong way in the lastes years of his life, spent searching for power that can't be in the Man hands and not create disasters and pain.

The History is not our affair.

  • the esper were a great addition to the game. especially when your just exploring random places and you happen to find one!

  • I HATED that tower, took way too long to get to the top

  • Cid's voice actor is one of the best I've ever heard. I can't even mimic his diction.

And look at the subtitles, he didn't even follow the script. He really got in to it.

  • @Darroth actually a lot of the lines in this game don't follow the script.

then again the added emphasis is probably what made the dialog much more interesting

  • What is the name of the track that plays when Cid dies and the Sun-Cryst starts to burst?

  • lol i think it's just the basic Boss Battle tune.

  • No, silly. The track AFTER the boss battle against Cid and Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud...

During Cid's death, Fran's collapse and the destruction of the Sun-Cryst.

"Hadn't you best be off, fool of a pirate?" What a great line.

  • aww balthier and fran are so cute ^__^

  • Dr. Cid Kickass men!

  • i want someone to tell me 5 people who are more crazy than Dr.cid in ff. thats got to be pretty hard.:P. and no sepheroth

  • Kefka and Kuja are pretty crazy

  • Hojo was pretty fucked up. He made clones of Sephiroth and was in love with Jenova....a space alien. I think Hojo and Dr. Cid would be good buddies. ^^

  • Dr. Cid for the next Dissidia? :P

    He'd be a great/crazy villain.

  • thank you very much. Someone else??

  • Balthier have a really mad father !

  • You gotta admire Cid's voice actor. He defintely plays the part incredibly well and, imo, puts Cid as one of the top FF villians of all time, if not the best (and the most complex).

  • @NomegStylus

and balthier one of the most entertaining :D

  • All righ, let's see who already changed her/his name:

    Balthier - Ffamran

    Amalia - Asheilia

    Lamont - Larsa

    Gabranth - Noah

Vaan pretending to be Basch, and Fran because her name is way different from the usual Viera, did I forgot someone?

  • You forgot

    Reddas - (Judge) Foris Zecht

  • Cid is my second favorite final fantasy villain behind kefka of course. I was sad to have to kill him... Oh and I got balthier to kill him with a gungnir and it did a whopping 273 damage!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Balthier: You made your nethicite for this. You mimic the Occuria's stone for what? To become a God yourself? Cid: On whose shoulders better to stand then those of the would-be Gods! Such high hopes I once had...but you ran, and ran they with you! Alas, the hour of your return is too late! Come, Framran! Revel in the glory of my triumph! Even the so called "FF12" haters can't hate on this cutscene.
  • "Enough of this I can bear no more"

I literally cheered to Cid's appearance!

  • ahhhhhh I was hoping Cid would win.

  • Venat sounds like a robot from the end of the ninth series of Doctor Who!!!

  • A little? Plain fucked in the head more like. You gotta love it.

  • give him a break, he's addicted to methicite XD

  • can you imagine that addiction counselling meeting?

"hello my name is Cid and I'm a methicite addict"

  • One question: If you could see that explosion from Jahara, how the HELL was the Strahl able to escape?! I mean, Vaan was right next to Reddas when he cut the bloody stone!

  • are you sure they could see the explosion? maybe the elder just felt the sudden energy released from the sun-cryst, and the light you see could have come from his own fire. you do have a point though, i think they just jumped out of the pharos, and balthier used some sort of remote to call the strahl. and then there's gabranth...

  • I agree with GraviFreak, however this is a good possible explanation.

    ^_^

  • Pokeball go!

    I choose you Venat!

  • lol that's what I thought too.

  • FFXII's cutscenes never seize to impress. Even with last generation console graphics they still sound and look great!

  • By the way, "Bahamut" has the german way of pronounciation ^^

  • Oh, not he again....

Cid, he always appears so unexpected -.-

  • One thing in particular I did like about FFXII is that when people die - they DIE. Vossler, Reks, Rasler, Reddas.

If this was the FFVII Compilation, they'd all come back at the drop of a hat.

  • It's also a bad time to be a monarch, I mean they're getting killed left and right. D:

  • love Balthier's real name. Ffamran. Soo cool

  • Ffamran was Balthier's name while being a Judge in the past. Like Gabranth is the name used as a Judge Magister, his real name is Noah

  • i thought ffamran was his real name and he just called himself balthier to cut the connection to his past. red it in the ff-wikia

  • thats what he said?

  • Exactly, Ffamran was Balthier in the past while working for the empire. So after his father changed reason for obscesion, Ffamram became Balthier =)

  • in my opinion ffamean counts as his "real" name, because he had it during his time in the empire, so since his birth....and than changed the name to begin a new chapter......

  • Might be mate, but Noah didnt had to change his name to Gabranth, he used that name as a Judge Magister. Well thats what I think!!!

  • No, he deliberately changed his name to distance himself from Basch. Gabranth was their mother's surname, and he took it on as his name after she died because he was furious at his brother for what he saw as Basch's abandonment of their family.

  • um aren't vaan and penelo the main characters? cause this has more balthier in it

  • He is the leading man. ;)

  • Whenever I strongly agree with someone, I always say 'Oh ho ho! Be sure that it is!'

  • I love it! Thanks for posting this!

  • & this is lyk the cutest Balthier x Fran scene eva!

  • Balthier ish hawt XD

& u SHUD know that hes Dr.Cid's son by now...its in cutscene 34 or sumfink lyk that.

  • Now we need a prequel to FFXII that shows Balthier's time as a Judge.

  • this is when i learned how to pronounce bahmut

  • Balthier looks like Dr. Cid!

  • duh, they're father and son :P

  • i knew it!!!!

  • i cried when Reddas died. :(

  • Reddas ftw, and that is the cutest moment between Fran and Balthier in this CS.

  • oh my holey goodness ... this cid is totaly psychic ... but i kinda like him ... this scene reminds me off a good theater scene or something its quite cool ^^ this is cid is sympathic ins his role here but i dont like him in the mainly way ... i liked the traditional cid from the other FF's xD

  • epic, dare I say...Shakespearean? the voice acting's come a long way since Yuna's 'yessir' (not to mention Cid pretty much CARRIED this game)

  • Dr. Cid is one of the best Villains ever...you can't help but love him even though he's a villain.

  • i luved this game but man.. i miss the back and forth fighting... its kinda wut made ff.. ff

  • I love Dr. Cid. He's makes an excellent villain.

  • venat protect cid only when it was a CUTSCENE

  • Yeah, why doesn't Venat show up during the fights? Weird...

  • "I Judge Magister, Condemn you to OBLIVION!" *BOOM!*

    Classic, dramatic line.

Fantastic scene, this game has it's own flavour that's completely different to the other FF's and if hard to directly compare. But whatever way you cut it, it's an amazing game and well worth my money :)

  • Go Reddas.

  • yesterday I fought with Gabranth and Dr. Cid... I see this scene again ang I'm crying(

  • such a beautiful laugh,so perfectly insane!

  • cid's speech is the greatest one i've heard in any game til now, but i still don't get why vaan wants to destroy the sun-cryst with the treaty-blade...

  • By striking the Sun-Cryst with either blade reduces the power to where it will not burst. Either the Treaty Blade fragments its power by making new stones out of the Sun-Cryst, or the Sword of Kings destroys it completely, being the Nethicite slayer.

  • The track is called "Destiny", 20th track of the third CD of the Soundtrack.

  • a turning point thats for sure...the game looks amazing, and i love it, a classic FF game.

  • You're a very poor judge of video games.

  • I've played Final Fantasies 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, and 12. I know what makes a good Final Fantasy. And you're right; it's good storylines and all that stuff.

This game has all that. You're just too stupid to see it.

  • I never said 12 was the best. I said it was good. Clearly you have no appreciation for stories like this one.

  • This is a good story. I was disappointed at first (being a big FF fan). But after replaying it, I realised it is awesome. Not quite as good as the others, but still awesome.

  • The Fran/Balthier was the only FF scene to make me cry...I laughed at X's ending

  • Your Cold....

  • uhhh really? How about Aeris' death? Or any of the other moving scenes in the games? It sounds like you've only played 10 - 12, which hardly showcase the FF genre. If you have played the previous ones from 1-9 than you're an idiot.

  • Not an "idiot", he/she is just lacking perspective.

  • Galuf's death wins saddest moment in FF history, Cid's Death ranks up there as a very sad moment, at least fourth or fifth, Aeris, eh... it had immense foreshadowing, and the scene was really poorly done anyhow. At least in 5 they Tried to help Galuf, what does Cloud do? Throws her in an underground reservoir, and she goes on to be a plot device that helps "develop" Cloud's character.

  • I dunno...Tidus's "death" at the end of X was pretty sad...

  • Ah, but that's the whole point, it was a "Disney death" . He doesn't actually *die* and he comes back. Pretending to kill off a character was quite overused in the old days, but in this day and age... I thought they had put such ploys behind them.

  • I played FFVII when I was in the 7th grade and I didn't see her death coming at all. It hit me hard, and a lot of other people as well. Maybe it depends on how old the player is?

To me, Cloud lowering Aeris into the water was a lot more touching than Cid's departure, although his was a little sad as well.

  • For your information one of the best endings in Final Fantasy history is that of X's ending! I know FFXII is a good game, but never compare it to other FF games

  • i feel really sorry for Balthier in this scene.

  • you know if you stand behind dr. cid while he is perparing his gatling gun attack you can't be hit by it

  • that fight was so easy that it didnt matter how many times he hit me,lol

  • Well, only Balthier and Reddas were sky pirates. And Balthier was made one coz of Cid. Both of them probably just wanted a new lifestyle and a sky pirate is the complete opposite from a judge

  • Wow, intense. Cid turns just turns out to be WAY too human for anyone's good. Plus a pinch of insanity, but nothing like his son. Not even physically, mind you. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but every single sky pirate around seems to have been a judge magistrate at some point in their lives. :P

  • not rly.... it are only 2 sky pirates seem to have been a judge

  • Reddas' death was pretty epic.

  • What was Reddas Thing With The Deadlands? anyone?

  • watch previuos cutsecen. It seems like Balthier has a large place for Fran in heart

  • how i take it, reddas is judge zecht (spelling?), and some how he survived the explosion. he couldnt bare what happened so he abandoned his title and became a Pirate. All that is said in the previous cutscene.

  • lol Cid's voice is so theatrical! It's brilliant! "Oh ho be sure that it is!" Legend! And his son (Balthier) is the coolest (don't kill me but he is easily the calmest and most cocky and confident FF character ever)

  • He reminds me of Han Solo... but a little bit more erudite. quite witty.

  • I was wondering, at the edge of his death, did Cid regain his sanity?

Or was he pretending to be nuts all this time?

  • he wasnt really pretending anything, he was simply talking to Venat who only he could see, so for everyone else who saw him would think he was crazy but he knew more than anyone

  • Eh... I wasn't referring to his conversation with Venat. I was referring to the things he did in general that has originally alienated his son (basically, things a common mad scientist would do)

I just felt that he sounded a lot more human when he dies, almost like that arrogant, almost FF6-Kefka-like demanor that you'd usually see in him has vanished once he dies.

  • Wow!!! This was....crazy...

  • this is how i finally learned how to say bahamut

  • one of the best parts in the game, thanks for posting
