You tend to play this piece note by note. It's clear you know most of the notes; by this point (since you've played it several times) you need to start worrying about interpretation. Think about this in lines and phrases instead of individual notes. Shape the phrase dynamically and stylistically. Also, this piece really just screams vibrato; vibrato covers a multitude of sins, including pitch problems (that's why flute players use it all the time).
uhh how old are you and how long have u been playing? cuz u suck if thats the best you can do...cmon...and i dont mean play jazz cuz thats to easy...play the first song in this video Queer As Folk - 2x16 - Ethan Gold [Fab Filippo] ...then start posting cuz ur holding back on the capabilities of the tenor sax
That's not really Jazz! It has a little bit offbeat, but it's no jazz! I think, that you don't know, what's jazz! I play tenor sayophone and baritone saxophone, too for three years and I must know, what's jazz... And it's no blues, too. Sorry, but it's so, what I say. But you play very well, congratulation!
I just finished playing this for solo and ensemble today, I was without an accompaniment, though. so my interpretation was drastically different in most sections.
Also I couldn't help but notice 7:14 - the end was a bit choppy, mine wasn't perfect either, at that point in the piece your just hoping you can get that F after the trills out in one piece amirite?
I am really enjoying reading your comments almost as much as I enjoyed watching you perform my father's music. It's no easy task. Thank you for posting the video.
Nice job! I'm currently studying saxophone in college, and I just performed the 4th movement a few days ago. If you havent, I HIGHLY encourage you to learn/perform the whole peice. Its a great peice for tenor, and unfortunatly, there isnt alot of quality work out there for tenor sax, but this is one of the better ones! My only advice would be to make sure you dont 'pinch' the notes in the upper register, particularly in the places where you're switching between the palm keys. Otherwise nice job!
I played this song at NYSSMA and got a 100. It made me an alternate for all-state band
