I know what you mean about Fantastic Dizzy, but I always feel that Dizzy feels at home only on the Spectrum, and works best in his first four games. I think by the time we get to Spellbound Dizzy the 16-bit versions are where the effort is going, and all the games after that, including Crystal Kingdom Dizzy look best on the Amiga. I think of Fantastic Dizzy as a follow up to those, and it fits with the spirit of those.
the other little project im working on is to make fantastic dizzy using dizzyage to look like a spectrum game minus the bubble didzzyand dizzy down the rapids, im gonna start that next week, ive no idea how long its gonna take, but hopefully should be fun
Wow, quite an undertaking! I'd be interested to see that.
If only somebody could find a way to make the dizzyage Dizzy sprite transparent though. Dizzy's solid white colour and red boxing gloves seem more like the Commodore version to me; I know it was a technical limitation that caused Dizzy's colour to constantly change on the Spectrum versions but it was part of the experience, and now in retrospect it's a major side of the charm and nostalgia.
I love this little game. See the animation on the teleportation machine? The first level of Crystal Kingdom Dizzy didn't bother to do that with the generator that supposedly "bursts into life". The most expensive Dizzy game compared with the one free Dizzy game, there.
