@TheDwoods14 It's not abuse, it helps the horse with his hormones which I have recently found out can really hurt himself at times. It's best for both the owner, and horse. It's kinda like a guy getting a Vasectomy. Big deal, I guess abuse too huh. Wow.
@TheDwoods14 It might not be elective. It could have been for a medical reason. Sometimes, there is already something "wrong" with your anatomy and it is safer for you to avoid that potential altogether. There is nothing "wrong" or "unhealthy" about it; for some folks it's absolutely healthier than the alternative.
@ThusShawkiddwasborn I know you said kinda like a vasectomy. Just wanted to point out the difference. In human vasectomy the man keeps his testicles and still produces male hormones. All that is done is the spermatic chord is severed so sperm cells will not be part of is semen. Big difference.
There's a lot of stallions out there that would make great geldings. I definitely geld. I'm a responsible horse owner and that's what we responsible horse owners do. Hey PETA...kiss my responsible ass.
I used to think it was terrible to castrate a horse or a dog. Now I'm older and wiser I can see how it will prevent the dog/horse from being frustrated when he can't get any.
@JacksonDeanna so you would rather the populations get out of control from not having them fixed? You would rather see there be thousands of horses being starved to death because the owner can't afford to feed them?
I've seen stallions drive themselves mad wanting to mate with mares whether there were any around or not. Gelding is the best most of the time and believe me gelding this way is waaaaaaaay more humane than it used to be done. And quite frankly only like .2% of the population that is ALREADY involved with horses knows how to properly handle a stallion as well as keep him mentally and physically happy. Very nice, safe geld you see here.
people are dumb this is the best thing you could do for a male horse it makes them not want to kill another gelding/stallion...... and people have been riding horses for a long time and i dont think its cruel for people to ride them when we provide food and happier longer lives for them.... horses live in the pasture 24/7 except for the two hours i get them out
what ever vet did this is very good no blood or anything took under a min probably took longer for the horse to go to sleep and for all you softies if they dont do this the stud can be mean and hurt so kid who just wants to pet the pretty horse and with out his testicales there is no risk of testicular cancer or unwanted colts
@cfyu86576 HOW?! It is immoral and wrong to geld a horse so he won't spend his life in a stall as a stallion? How is this wrong?! Let me guess you are against fixing dogs and cats too
concrete. The spray of pesticides & other chemicals kill horses or make them sick. Obviously, you have never seen a horse starving to death. I have 'rescued' horses, gelded them, had their hooves trimmed, wormed, & vaccinated, & fed them with nutritional feed & hay. I am the last person who would ever commit animal cruelty. Horses need assistance from 'man' to live in today's world. If 'man' (woman) acted responsibly there wouldn't be so many kids on welfare. So, yes some of them need to be 'fi
As a responsible owner of horses, my responsibility is to manage their reproduction. If I just let them live wild & free where would they get food & the care they need? Free range is Illegal. There are already too many unwanted horses out there that are not properly cared for. Do you want them running around the streets like stray dogs & cats? Who will worm, vaccinate them, & take care of their hooves? Horses do not do well on concrete without shoes. The blame is on 'man' pouring all the concr
Those of you who justify this treatment to animals based on some redneck /hillbilly based perceptions, think again, what if you were born a horse on the barn in your next life. And talking about controlling populations ,last time I checked we humans are responsible for mass extinction of other species and our numbers have grown beyond. So shall we start gelding all the men now !! And this is the 21st century, we got cars who da fuck rides horses, dickheads!! Let them be as they r in the wild.
@dsr83510 Just shut up you idiot. Plenty of people ride for sport and pleasure. If we leave them in the wild there will be hardly any left as we have overrun any territory they could possibly have. More often in the wild they get shot for coming onto cattle land.
@Emura100 First, you're NOBODY to shut me up. I'm free to express my unbiased opinion on whatever I want. Sports and pleasure at the expense of somebody's GENITALS... way to go you DUMB-ASS. Remember this you imbecile!, what you do to others, gets done to you, some day, either in this life or in the other. Try to justify your sports/pleasure crap, when you're being gelded. You're reply seems to be so lacking in substance. Have you ever heard of Anti-hunting /Anti-poaching laws, you douche bag.
@dsr83510 Your comment makes no sense. And you must be one of those people who would rather horses be allowed to breed uncontrollably thus creating thousands of horses without a home, left to starve and die. Same goes for deer. Educate yourself before making comments.
@Emura100 Educate myself!!, sure honey, what an irony,I'm doing that (I'm a Master's Student at New Jersey Institute Of Technology). Don't label me with some PETA bull****, I am a regular person you gives comments based on my GUT feeling and primal instincts, don't need no formal education for that. Coming back to your comments would you say that the herds of the Serengeti (in Africa, for your information) are starving and dying since there's no human intervention to their sex lives!!
@dsr83510 Excuse me but this isn't the Serengeti. What do you suggest we do with all the horses, who wouldn't know how to survive in the wild? Again your comments are not making any sense as you are trying to bring in non-relevant information to a completely different order of creatures. And Just because you are a masters students doesn't mean sh*t. What are you getting your masters in? If it is in anything other than Vet science or Wildlife Biology then you have no room to talk.
@Emura100 The fact that you got no BALLS gives you no room to talk, I guess. And stop copy/pasting stuff you found from Google and speculate on some puny number of instances which matched your stupid argument.
@dsr83510 Actually I am a Wildlife Biology student, I didn't have to look any of that up nor did I copy and paste anything as that was my own knowledge from reports I have done in the past.
@dsr83510 Do you believe it is wrong to spay and neuter cats and dogs and what is this major of yours that qualifies you to think you know more than others on the subject of population control?
@dsr83510 Still didn't answer the question. And is it ok that if left a stallion he would have to be left in a stall most of his life? Otherwise he and all the other geldings you would prefer to be left stallions will try to kill each other over mares? Maybe this horse has a conformational defect or a genetic defect the owners don't want him to pass on. Castration is a much nicer solution than solitary confinement.
@Emura100 The fallacy lies in this very statement "Castration is a much nicer solution than solitary confinement" Did the horse tell you this? Are you a horse-whisperer? My point is that if this is deemed as so barbaric when done to humans why is this being done to the horses? first we don't have to tame a horse to satisfy our fucking egos, that trend is archaic and second, the fact that we haven't come up with an advanced/non-barbaric means of castrating horses (such as chemical etc..)
@Emura100 (continuing my previous reply to this particular comment) reflects so poorly on our advancements in the field of veterinary science/ care....
@Emura100 Answered your questions long time back and before you start replying GIBBERISH, I sincerely request you to peruse my reply and think about the BRUTALITY which you are so shamefully justifying (OH!! maybe its because you HATE the male sex!! in that case, looks like you got issues ). If you still think that physical castration of an innocent being is valid and there's no better solution than that, well then, DAMN you!, u mean sadistic B***h.
Of course its wrong to spay cats/dogs. I don't relate to this whole idea of total ownership bestowed upon the pets by humans. Its like, we want to play GOD. When it comes to humans, all the eugenics were banned cause we care for our own balls so much.. But when it comes to your pets, we feel its valid.. what a classical case of hypocrisy, right there.

@dsr83510 Oh and if you are putting the anti-hunting thing in response to me saying horses get shot then you are extremely uneducated about that. You don't know what you are talking. Farmers still shoot mustangs that come onto their land despite any laws you put in place. Stoping the ownership of horses would eradicate the species.
@Emura100 In that case its those stupid farmers who need to be fixed, not the horses. Is raising a fence around you farm so hard in the 21st century!! And you surely are an idiot for saying "Stoping the ownership of horses would eradicate the species." Can you give me one example where human intervention has helped in rejuvenation of a species, I can give you thousands of examples for the other way round.
@dsr83510 Bison, wolves, eagles, attempting to save bat populations that are being wiped out due to a fungus that was in no way caused or spread by humans. And there is a reason they do round ups every year, with there being few natural predators the populations of feral horses would grow to the point where they are eating all of the remaining food supply, destroying the ecosystem and causing the starvation of those remaining, creating mass die offs. Often seen in area where hunting of deer and
@dsr83510 elk has been banned but there are not enough natural predators to control the species (and the general public will not allow the reintroduction of those natural predators). once wolves were allowed back into certain areas more elk were killed and plants that were thought to be extinct in the area started to come back. When the wolves weren't there and hunting was banned the ecosystem failed due to over grazing. Same thing would happen with horses.
@dsr83510 I don't make comments like "that is sexy" on any horse video, especially not this one. I came here to entertain myself with the number of stupid "how cruel it is to fix a horse" comments. But you apparently find horses mating sexy. Don't deny it I saw your comments through your profile.
