@RockBottom215 When I started in this business over 20 yrs ago I didn't know too much about equipment. I bought used equipment till I got some gigs to buy better gear. I recently bought powered speakers. I really like them a lot. They are made by RCF. I have 2 350 watt speakers and use a 800 watt powered sub. For me it works great for all of my venues. I would highly recommend powered speakers. Less to haul around, lightweight & very crisp sounding. Check out RCF.
Awesome, awsome video. Funny, Informative and ENTERTAINING. I love the song selection you used for every scene, tells me your quick with reading a crowd and their music taste (Guess it's experience right?). So how much do you charge per gig, if you don't mind me asking?
Hey Wavey!! just a Quick Question i Need To Know!! Where do u get your cd slips and if u can can u give me a link - cuz my cd slips - when i put a cd back to back - it gets sorta crumbley!!
Yes it is. The wife normally drives that vehicle during the week to work & back. So to avoid her crashing into the gear that sits in the garage I rigged up the cheap rope & ball to guide her safely in the garage. It's pretty fun that you noticed it.
:P I useally get bored watching something and I just kinda look at other things ont he screen, or in the video while sitll listining, and, I saw it : P
I had to use them for a show last night. We had a big snow storm & was nice to be able to keep the door open while we we're quickly bringing our gear in trying not to get too much snow on it.
I also really liked the tip about the door block. Never thought of that. And yes, Tip jars are very very tacky unless you are doing a bar gig or something like that.
I think you bring to much crap to a gig, you got subs, stands, rack cases, sometimes you have to do 5 runs man you know how much work that is with all your equipment? Thats a nice water bottle you can use it for a tip jar too!
Thank you for the comment. I do not bring all of the equipment you saw. Some of that remains at home as additional back up equipment. I can do a load-in in 3 trips or less depending if I do a large or small set up. Tip jars are tacky & I never use them.
Very Good Tips Dave! The Only Spare Thing I Didn't Think To Bring But, Now I Carry Is A Spare Mixer And I Use Tic-Tacs, Altoids Are Too Strong. Practice "Clean Breath" & Enjoy!
Great video! Expecially the "sweat towel" part. The only thing that I do different is, I wear a full set of regular street clothes while setting up, then change into my tux afterwords. When you scratch my Tux shoes, the scratches dont come out, so I dont wear them while setting up. Very good video and great tips though! I also bring an extra white Tux shirt with me JUST IN CASE I spill while I eat during dinner music. Us polocks like to be prepared for everything.
No only water. I never drink alcohol while DJing. If they see you drinking even one drink, they make think you had 10 & it doesn't look good. I like to keep the energy level high and may swig a mountain dew or cola. Alcohol slows me down.
Great vid Davey! I do a lot of those things, but I never thought about the doorstops. Any idea how much a cart like that runs? We have a nice one, but it doesn't seem as functional as the one you have. :)
It's a Rock-n-Roller cart. I bought it about 5 yrs. ago from Pro Sound & Stage Lighting. They have it listed in their catalog for $169.00 right now. It is definately worth the money.
Thanks for the comment. I've learned from situations in the past to have the back up gear, cords, plugs, adapters, etc. Just wanted to share this with the DJ community.
HA! Great work, Wavey! I'm very happy to see all of your cool tips in one video. Very entertaining, very informative. I'll give you a star or two for this one :)

Good tips davey. Doesnt it get too cold in your garage during winter to leave speakers out there? That will affect your cones & electronics.
EternalSounds 3 years ago
I does get cold out there sometimes. I've done this for almost 20 yrs. & never had a problem with the gear. Guess I've been lucky.
