  • I sent this back in for a Sparc.

  • They are $169 now everywhere.

  • Good review!!!

  • i know it comes with a screw on 2x magnifier. is it legit or kinda junky?

  • Wow, sorry I missed this deal!

  • Just got mine on Saturday. Great optic. The lens covers are awful, but other than that, I'm really liking it.

  • thats a nice scope im going to get one for my saiga. on a side note is that and open bolt?

  • got mine at jays sporting goods for $120 put it on my m4 and love it I've dropped it a few times and it has held zero great

  • I've noticed these are $170 now. BH Photo had 'em for $149 + free shipping. Ordered mine tonight!

  • I own both. I love both

  • Great review. Subed

  • very helpful and informative. thanks for the great video

  • is this better then the bushnell trophy acog style red dot as far as quality?

  • That's a beautiful Kriss.

  • great review my friend, just got this scope and plan on sighting it in this weekend!!! Thanks for the informative review!

  • Do you have issues with your flip caps not wanting to close easily? I own one of these and I like it. The flip caps and the power button being on the side making it too easy to accidentally turn on while my rifle is in my tactical bag is my only issues with it. Best red dot for the money IMO. Also my "dot" is more of a "pangaea" shape. but that doesn't bother me so much.

  • You really do a good job. You are a natural for this environment.

  • Excellent, excellent review. It's clear that you are very competent and understand the information that viewers actually need and how to verify it. Thanks, subbed.

  • Hey man, love your reviews on the Vortex Strikefire and Sparc. My question is which one would you go with on an AK47 and why over the other? Like pro's and cons on the AK47? I'd truly appreciate your input man, thanks!!!!

  • @Rac350 I'm using the SPARC more than anything. I like it on the AK with the MI rail.

  • @Sturmgewehre Thanks for another good review. I have ???s.

    1) What do you think is better for ak-47/74s the sparc or the vortex strikefire

    2) Also a website is offering the strikefire for $250.00 that includes an expense clip on side rail. The question is will the strikefire work fine with my UTG AK

side-mount? i.e. will it hold zero just fine with the UTG mount?

    3) Also what kind of groupings can you get with the strikeforce using 47/74 at 100yds., thanks.

  • @newshounded I like the SPARC either a Midwest Industries rail or a RS Products side mount. The Strikefire will work with any standard mount that has a 30mm clamp and has a standard 1913 rail. I've not found red dot sights drastically improve my 100 yard groups over iron sights, but I'm used to the AK sights. You can expect anything from 2-4 inches depending on the rifle and ammo.

  • @Sturmgewehre Thanks for your reply, I hope I'm not a bother. I guess the philosophy behind red/green dot sights is quick target acquisition at relatively close ranges, as in combat situations possibly dealing with multiple "targets".

These sight aren't for bragging rights for pinpoint accuracy on paper targets at the range but more for an action situation where seconds or even fraction of seconds depend on you finding your "target" quickly to save your life. Am I wrong?

  • You ROCK, great review!

  • Would you recommend this over something a little cheaper in cost than say the primary arms m3? I'm looking for something affordable for my sig 522 but it's always nice to have another decent optic to switch to for my AR if needed.

  • @TXchadTX Yes, the quality of these sights is significantly better than the 3 Primary Arms sights I have experience with. The PA sights are good sights for range guns, but if you want something for more serious work you'll want to invest a few dollar more. Even the SPARC's are borderline for heavy duty use, they aren't Aimpoint replacements, IMHO.

  • @Sturmgewehre So would you suggest the Strikefire over the SPARC when it comes to durability?

  • @BTeamHooligan Well, the mount would be the weak link of the SPARC. It's held by 4 small screws. The StrikeFire uses a standard 30mm mount which is more rugged. As for the optics themselves, I can't really comment on which might be more durable since I've caused neither to fail so far.

  • @TXchadTX I took your word for it and just ordered one. Keep up the good work, your channel is quickly becoming a favorite.

  • I ordered this and 3riversprecision sent it priority mail.

They actually lost money on shipping.

    Go figure.

  • @Sturmgewehre

See that is what I was thinking myself. It just didn't make much sense that it would have to be re-zeroed each time. If it was a nudge or slight movement that was throwing his off ever so slightly, then your test wouldn't have proved that a bump or slight pull wouldn't have affected the dot's accuracy. I have no idea what he must have been doing to his that would cause it to be slightly off according to him. Also does this model come with a screw on 2x-3x magnification?

  • @Sturmgewehre

One question that I have you for in regards to this particular sight is, while discussing this sight with a cousin of mine that previously owned this particular model, it was brought to my attention that while the batteries are drained after use, the sight doesn't retain any memory to keep the dot sight zeroed in. He mentioned that each time he had to replace the battery, he also had to re zero in the site each time. Is this true? Have you personally experienced this problem?

  • @GrayFox321 That would be untrue. The adjustments to the sight for elevation and windage are mechanical, not electronic. There isn't a "memory" to be lost. The only way to change the zero is to turn the adjustment knobs.

  • What is battery life on that vortex.

  • Thanks for the discount code! Ordered mine along with other stuff to complete my AR

  • Have had a Strikefire for about 6 months, initially mounted on a DSA FAL and now on a M1A Scout. In both cases, zero hold has been very good, with no operational failures. My only complaint is that the covers are to small and difficult to close. With a 4 MOA dot the sight is only effective to about 200 meters for center of mass hits. The M1A irons are more accurate but slower to acquire a sight picture.

  • great video. you cleared some of my questions. really, job well done.

  • I have one, the battery cover fell off during shooting, and i was lucky to find it, a retention device is advised! but other wise, its great, mounted on a AK.

  • @strumgehwre

Thanks I was looking at putting on a Draco sbr with a quick detach mount or maybe a sparc or burris fast fire

I'm kind of leading towards the Burris but at $125 after discounts I don't think I could pass one of these up.

How are the burris quality wise?

  • @P226nut

I have no first hand experience with the Burris, but I'm planning on picking one up to review at some point.

  • @strumgehwre

Which would you prefer (if you were only buying one) the sparc or the strikefire

And do your BUIS co-witness through the optic, I saw an image on vortex's website showing a hole through the mount, is this for iron sights or is it just a hole?

  • @P226nut

I would generally prefer the SPARC for the smaller size. Depending on what rifle you mount it to, like an AR15, the co-witness would take place through the glass of the sight and not through a hole in the mount.

  • Sturm your review was so helpful, I decided to buy one, it was informative and professional, going down to what the basics are and interest. Better than nutnfancy.

  • What dose MOA mean?

  • @deathsite95

It means "minute of angle". It translates to roughly 1" at 100 yards.

  • do you ever cut your finger nails ??????

  • Nice review. I still like my Vortex Sparc. Smaller and weighs less. But for $200 it should be Parallax free (even within 50 yards.)

  • Great review, I thought about getting one at one time but I went with a Different one, it was for my AR-10 at the time. I went with the Burris XTS-135 Tactical Speed Dot.

A little more than the Vortex...but still less than an AimPoint comp....LOL

    I like that Kryss....Very nice....Again..Great Review...

    E1

  • Dang, you must have a very good paying job. Cool rig.

  • Do you plan on reviewing other products in the Vortex line?

  • @FWalshingham

I have a Vortex 6.5-20x44 Viper scope I will do a review on later this summer. I mounted it to the SCAR 17s and have been testing it out. So far, I like the scope over all.

  • @Sturmgewehre Excellent, I am really interested in their stuff, particularly their Viper 1-4

  • Do you prefer this site over the sparc?

  • Good video, I have one of these on my BushMaster M4, it does very well! Actually a good optic and I've noticed I haven't had a problem with "zero" being affected by removing and replacing the optic on the firearm

  • Another problem is, if you lay your gun on it's side, it can turn the power on or off. This is bad when you think you've turned your red dot off and you lay it in a case and it turns the site on. Plus I recommend that if you're not using the site, you should take the battery out. Mine has drained twice just sitting in the case.

  • 3 rivers is sold out. Hope the discount code works when they restock.

  • @kingjamez80

Don't worry, the code should still be good when the next batch gets delivered. We did the code on the SPARC months ago and they're still honoring it.

  • I'll stick to my Primary Arms stuff!

  • @EchoOfLohengrin

PA makes good sights for the money, however I've found the Vortex sights to be a bit more rugged.

  • @Sturmgewehre I just don't like the whole rubber controls sitting off the left side. I'd be more inclined to look into getting one if they were on the right, out of my FOV doing 2-eye shooting.

  • @EchoOfLohengrin

I can see why you would be concerned, I thought the same when I saw them in pictures. However, you really don't even notice it when you're shooting.

  • @Sturmgewehre You're the boss then! However, I'll stick with PA for now because it's what I can afford. Maybe you can do a review on the 3-9x40? I've got one I could possibly loan you, provided you don't destroy it. I don't have any irons or a backup optic at the moment though.

  • For ease of use and practice, would you suggest this particular optic over say an EOtech? The EOtech I was looking at is the 512 that takes AA batteries, but it also costs nearly double the price of this particular one.

  • @Arphalia

For practice and if you're on a budget, then it's a great sight. If you can afford a military grade sight like the EOTech or Aimpoint (I prefer Aimpoints for several reasons), I would go with the EOTech or Aimpoint. But if it's going to break the bank buying one of those two, the Vortex products are your best second bet.

  • @Sturmgewehre Thank you for the reply, may I ask how long this special offer is going to be? May have to look into this for my rifle.

  • @Arphalia

I don't believe there is a set end date. We started the promo code on the SPARC a couple of months ago and 3RP is still honoring that code. You should be good. Give Brian a call and I'm sure he'll get you set up even if you have to wait a bit before you make your decision.

  • i have been realitivly pleased with vortex products.. have a sparc myself on my yugo ak.. gets the job done

  • freeze frame @ (3:04) ....LOL Official new favorite channel. Please do not stop making vids.........

  • Started one of these on my AR, really like the product. Quality review, keep up the good work my friend.

  • Great sight! I've had it for a few years now on a AK 47 and AR 15. Runs without issue on both guns. Great value!

  • yes i have this sight it is a very good sight and u cant beat the warranty no ? asked if its broke they will fix or send u a new one just check it out u wont be disapointed

  • You mentioned there is a parallax issue under 50 yds. Does the same apply to the Aimpoint Comp series?

  • @BackpackingVideos

The Aimpoint does not have a parallax issue.

  • That is a sweet gun.

  • Just picked one up because of your review. thanks

  • Excellent review as always. The explanation on parallax will help a lot of folks understand this phenomena.

Let me also add a plug for Brian at 3 Rivers. I ordered my Vortex SPARC from him and used the discount mentioned in that review. Got a great price. Equally pleasing was customer service. The SPARC can be difficult to get at times. They sell out fast. 3 Rivers e-mailed me when they were back in stock. My order was shipped same day & I had it in less than 3 total. How's that for service?

  • Your review of the SPARC helped me make my final decision to get the SPARC and now i love it ha ha.

  • nice info , thanks

  • I love mine.

Most users are lamenting an issue with the power switch on the side: You can really turn it on accidentally by bumping it,

it actually turned on just by pressing the rifle+red dot into a too snug of a gun case.

  • Another top quality review. No BS, no unnecessary "flash". Just a flat out great review! Thank you!

  • Dude, where is the recoil on that Kriss? That's pretty slick.

  • @litemup50 The recoil energy in diverted downward instead of straight back...and yeah, it's slick

  • got mine already and im very pleased

  • I have one of these on my AA12, works like a charm.

  • This works great on my Kel-Tec SU16-CA. I would have preferred a dual mount, but it seems sturdy enough so far.

  • you should do some research on a brand called Sight Mark... they have a lifetime warranty, and works beautiful on my ak74.

  • Firsty

  • These pretzels are making me first
