Not the best performance, but if you're at the age I think you are, I would like to commend you on your bow control. Your intonation needs work, but you're bow control is a lot better than most other high school violinists I have watched. Overall decent. Keep practicing scales 'cause you're on your way :)
@zacharyrod1st Thanks, I think this was right after I turned 17... I had quit violin for 2 years and had picked it back up about 4 months before this concert.
Very sad performance.Intonation is poor, rythmically it insecure. Sadly, I thought it came across as an moderately talented high school orchestra. In Mozart, purity of intonation is essential. This sad little performance; listen and then listen to Artur Grumiaux and London Symphony. Day and night difference.
haha at 6:34 he screws up a note and and makes me want to puke lol, I played this solo for an audition to all-state in Maine... it was a fun time :) But I can't blame him you know, only because he is younger than I am by a lot lol
some bits are a bit out of tune. but good job overall, this piece is really hard to master.. i would know been playing it for 5 months and it's still nowhere near perfect. :P
I'm working on this piece and its a beast but I love it. Good job. This is a very difficult piece to master so I'm sure you spent a great deal of time on this! and you sound better than I do on it right now and you are younger, I'm sure...so you go Daniel!
i'm getting ready to play this on the viola for my semester test at my school!! :D so far i pretty much like it... except my cadenza could be a bit easier XP yours sounded pretty =] it sounded great :D
Me sorprende un poco al notar que no existe ningun hispano comentando acerca de una sinfonia tan notable y tan hermosa como esta, sencillamente es un privilegio poder disfrutar de una sinfonia como esta.
to blackninja14...of course you can hear the solo violinist, so maybe by saying 'not to sound like a total douche' deep down you know you are - LISTEN!!!
not to sound like a total douche, but im ignorant to this: how r we able to so clearly hear the sound of the violinist (even though he's playing something different) over the orchestra? wouldnt they blend somewhat?
he's out front. that's one ( the entire shape and seating of the orchestra effect the sound, not to mention that 100k shell around them). and two. he's essentially playing his ass off while the accompaniment is playing at a lower dynamic. if you wanted to get technical in terms of the physics of sound, i can keep goin. haha.
Fantastic! I've just started studying this piece too. I'd love to play it as a concerto. I envy your skills: I can't play it as well as you.... yet!! ;)
wow yay i am too! i'm glad i found someone who also played it at my age (or around there), as everyone i've found who's played this is like 9 years old lol.
I have a question is the candenza in this particular movie is diffirent on other movie but also the same piece??? because the cadenza of my score is different from this though its the same piece
Actually, the cadenza is the Franko. Not only is it not reduced, but Perlman plays the exact cadenza on his record MINUS the 16th note arrpegios at the end. It's the same version I'm playing, and it's quite difficult. Good job!

HOLY SHIT. that high school kid sucks ass. I played that song the first day, side read and played to the 4th page. That solo is pretty easy and can get really good if you try on the intonation and while playing musically. That kid kind of sucks.
You're quite funny to actually say Mozart is easy to play. FEW people can actually play Mozart properly. I figure you're not one of them because you think it's easy. It doesn't matter, likewise, if the piece is 'easy': MOZART wrote it; EVERYONE has played it.
Stop criticising poorly and post a recording of yourself.
that's not isaac stern, its a high school kid whose intonation is off and has some work to do before he can say he's mastered this piece. I don't claim to be better than stern, very few people in history can do that.
Is this orchestra professional? Do they get paid to play like that? Daniel you have have good assertiveness for your level and it is good to see someone who knows what they want to do in a Mozart concerto and I'm sure in five years you will be at a very high level. I would be extremely disappointed if an orchestra played like that if I was the soloist.
Nope it's a community orchestra... I actually play in the symphony if I have time. I know it's not the best orchestra, but it was still a good opportunity to be able to perform with one. And as for performing at a high level... I'm considering switching to viola or even just going into conducting. I'll get back to you on that in 5 years lol
You have to be a good musicians to "go into conducting" - rofl. That's all I'm gonna say. No professional musicians are going to respect the "Maestro" that has to apologize after performing Mozart's 2nd easiest violin concerto. Have I got you back to practicing? Good. Let me tell you, in 5 years, you're going to be better than me. Stick to it.
so i thought you might've wanted an update on how my music stuff is going? violin is still improving... but i aced (like literally) ear training and theory.
i tested out of a semester of ear training already and i'm pretty good with the intervals... i still need to work on my intonation on the violin though :/
i wont bother responding to your insults... or profanity.
music theory:
i know how to read music, and the styles in which pieces from different periods were played. but all the things like ABA form to explain a certain series of note just seems silly to me.
ear training. i looked it up, and yes, i do do what's called "ear training", though not for some time. my intonation is quite good up to around 6th position.
im 4th seat in LA allstate, and my current working piece is tchaikovsky's first.
as a performer, you should be aware of theory. it's not just about the forms of the piece and which time period it's from, but understanding the phrases and playing things differently to bring out something that isn't normal. you have to understand the chordal structure to emphasize a cadence or something, or even something that isn't part of the diatonic sequence, maybe like a secondary chord or if it modulates. music's not just about playing the notes, but understanding it.
And ear training, or also called "aural skills" isn't just about intonation, although it is something that you should have as a musician but also being able to recognize sequences, motives, themes although that's more related with theory, and cadences. just playing notes probably won't get people anywhere . and the combination of theory and aural skills can make people better musicians
I lack training in... pretty much everything except actually playing the violin. If I need to play something a certain way, my teacher will tell me. : )
Note that while I am a decent enough violinist by most standards, I do not plan to make a career out of it. As it is, I struggle to find time to practice.
just remember that you are an artist and you can interpret music how you see it based on the forms and stuff. some people will playing a piece differently than others because of how they analyze it and stuff, and your teacher will tell you how to play it now, but eventually as you understand music more with theory and stuff, you can choose your own way to interpret it as long as it's not too terribly out of context and stuff
holy crap.... this is what happens if you leave your youtube account logged in at a community library. I am really sorry that someone impersonated me and did this shit. this opinion has nothing to do with me, and i like classic music anyways. its good for meditation.
overall very good for 17yrs old...intonation problems in areas. double stopping and chords in some areas problem. but bow tecnique and timing good.
ermmm..there was just a slight problem in the cadenza...the shift at 08.27 - 08.28,terrible! and cadenza could do with being faster. but no enjoyed it,young talent is always good, and people will slate u for being young talent, believe me i know..iv been there, keep it up :)
yea speaking of getting old... i played it like 5 years ago but i just brought it back because i felt like it... i like mozart better than haydn personally
ummm....this isn't bad....I don't know what everyone is talking about....but yeah....this is very good....even if there are a few wrong or flat notes. I commend you! I wish I could play this with an orchestra....maybe I will....I'm learning it right now? Do you want to attend a Conservatory?
dude, chill. i suck. I didn't practice because I was sick of playing this because I already played this a long before this concert, and they rescheduled this to the day before my SATs, so I was pissed off and didn't care much about it
How old are you? It's pretty bad, don't you think? I guess you were really nervous or something, but your vibrato is fine so I guess..you were a little calm or something.
How old are you? I'm working on this right now and it sound almost identical. A few things I do better, however there are things that you do much better.
Overall: good playing. Nice bow technique, vibrato, etc.
Yea, community orchestras usually have fair intonation.
i played it 4-5 years ago and i brought it back after not taking lessons for like 2-3 years and i was just getting sick of playing this. i'm 17, but yea i lost a lot of my skills during that time i didn't take lessons
yea i probably would've practiced a little more if i wasn't sick of playing it; i played it like 4 years ago and just brought it back after not taking lessons for couple years, and they rescheduled the concert after a winter storm to couple weeks later so it's a day before my SATs
Hey, next time make sure to get a better orchestra. Especially in the first tutti, there's a horrible intonation!!!
Your imagination of Mozart is nice, but try to practice more before the concerto and what's more important, try to hit better ;) Some tones are not hit properly... Don't bang on the one that much and try to define legato notes better, then it would be very nice...
He played unstable in tune;
he need practice more.

yea speaking of getting old... i played it like 5 years ago but i just brought it back because i felt like it... i like mozart better than haydn personally

ummm....this isn't bad....I don't know what everyone is talking about....but yeah....this is very good....even if there are a few wrong or flat notes. I commend you! I wish I could play this with an orchestra....maybe I will....I'm learning it right now? Do you want to attend a Conservatory?

04cdecw 4 years ago
terrible - phrasing, dynamics, TUNING !! Why dont u do a bit more practise
04cdecw 4 years ago
dude, chill. i suck. I didn't practice because I was sick of playing this because I already played this a long before this concert, and they rescheduled this to the day before my SATs, so I was pissed off and didn't care much about it
danielyp29 4 years ago
no offence, but for the cadenza, 2 of the chords are a little out. Also in the beginning the high D is kind of flat. Overall, a very good try =)

How old are you? It's pretty bad, don't you think? I guess you were really nervous or something, but your vibrato is fine so I guess..you were a little calm or something.
Jromano91 4 years ago
yea i know it's pretty bad.. i guess thats what happens when you stop taking lessons for 3 years
danielyp29 4 years ago

How old are you? I'm working on this right now and it sound almost identical. A few things I do better, however there are things that you do much better.
Overall: good playing. Nice bow technique, vibrato, etc.
Yea, community orchestras usually have fair intonation.
Blo0dSweatAndTears 4 years ago
i played it 4-5 years ago and i brought it back after not taking lessons for like 2-3 years and i was just getting sick of playing this. i'm 17, but yea i lost a lot of my skills during that time i didn't take lessons

I agree with littlecelt.. you should practice more before the concert...
soond1456 4 years ago
yea i probably would've practiced a little more if i wasn't sick of playing it; i played it like 4 years ago and just brought it back after not taking lessons for couple years, and they rescheduled the concert after a winter storm to couple weeks later so it's a day before my SATs
danielyp29 4 years ago
sounds nice but check out sum intonation problems :)
batuocanhsang 4 years ago
yea... this is a community orchestra/symphony... but it's still kinda "formal" i guess. but yea, can't blame them for intonation and etc.
danielyp29 4 years ago
Hey, next time make sure to get a better orchestra. Especially in the first tutti, there's a horrible intonation!!!
Your imagination of Mozart is nice, but try to practice more before the concerto and what's more important, try to hit better ;) Some tones are not hit properly... Don't bang on the one that much and try to define legato notes better, then it would be very nice...
littlecelt 4 years ago
wow. that was good.

the cadenza would definately work better faster. it tends to drag on a bit. but good job! it's fantastic. :)
