This style of game play was done way earlier, and better in the YuYu Hakusho games for SNES. Go check them out if you even mildly enjoyed this.

I love how this game is reminiscent of the old Yu Yu Hakusho game for the SNES, mainly because Yu Yu Hakusho and Flame of Recca have some similarities in plot and characterizations.

Finish the game years ago, at first I didn't understand on how to play the game at all. A few practice/training will do a trick.

In this game, timing (on attack, defend and dodge) it's the most crucial/important thing. Wrong or slow timing, you loose.

wow the game play is quite poor. the animation is good but doesn't count for much as a game. Only reason for buying this would be to watch the cut scenes to see the continuation of the story. Although i have already seen the end scene cut which is really nice.

@Arkradoskeiresk - Yu Yu Hakusho was made, shown, and aired before Flame of recca and although FoR is good yu yu is the oringnal and you can tell the author liked yu yu *Tournament arc being the biggest thing.

Why would having a tournament be an "original" idea? Heck, in that case, Dragonball beats a lot of them. The authors all draw from mythology, it's not like they "created" a lot of this. They just spin it together in a new way. It's all good... ^_^

well. this game was based in the last 5 volumes of the flame of recca manga. and in the manga their looks are really different even the color of their hair...

There was other things left unanswered in anime. Thats why i've read all manga to get that information.

SPOILER here!!! (i may not remember correctly): the sixth form was "without form". During full fight with Joker (in manga) it was revealed that there was a ball (like others "magic" weapons) that stick all parts of Kougen Anki together. I won't tell you the rest :) - read manga

this game is like the crappy inuyasha computer game... but at least the inu-yahsa one is at least an rpg... altho it was har dto play cause it was in japanese^_^

Doesn't seem like the standards to a PS2 game. More like those old SNES Yu Yu Hakusho games. These kind of things are difficult to grasp but it is definately a fun little thing to play as apposed to the same old Street Fighter, Budokai type fighting systems.

Actually Recca and Kurei have 8 moves (4 quick attacks with X button and 4 power attacks with O butten) the other characters have less.

The battle get a bit boring afte a while but its quite fun to play with it. And ofcourse its about the story line.
