  • Hal Ketchum has had a few great songs over the years, examples of such include, "Mama Knows The Highway," "That's What I Get For Losing You," "Past The Point Of Rescue," and, of course, "Small Town Saturday Night." If anyone can name any more of his songs, please feel free to shoot me an E-mail.

  • awsome.

  • Lived in Small Town North Carolina, Small Town Alabama and now Small Town Indiana. Its all America - The sentiments are very much the same.

    Prefer it to anyone's city.

But even here things are changing some. It has nothing to do with those who have fathers, grand fathers and great grand fathers who fought in America's wars and who for generations have taken pride in raising their children right.

Red, White and Blue - and Christian!

    You know what I mean

    You know what I mean

  • the 6 people who dont like this song need to get the fuck out of america if thats indeed where they reside!

  • Buies Creek, NC in the early 60's

  • KICK ASS SONG I HEARD ATLEAST 3,000,000 TIMES.

  • I worked the other night at a "Big Time"(Commercially Successful0 Country Act-Lord, It was like a Madonna concert for goodness sake, yes, the lady had a big voice and the musicians were all pros, but...The set was a monstrosity and they did 5 or so covers of like Jackson 5 songs and others, etc. The lady wore these Lady Ga-Ga ( well, not quite that bad) costumes, but you get the idea, it seems the music just can't stand on it's own-and you know, in many cases they're right.

  • coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • @jinnylynn08 I just feel old, the music has changed so much to hear this is like hearing Patsy Cline to me.

  • @nwojunkie true but these r the greats! lol we got the good music growing up not that todays music isnt good BECAUSE IT IS... just its different i think i like the older stuff a lil bit more

  • I love this song . . . I was raised on the country from the late 80s-early 90s. It was all we'd have on the radio when we'd be in the car with my mom. I can't stand a lot of today's. And I love hearing what the lyrics really mean now, lol. When I was younger I always pictured something way different.

  • Be nice if a dollars worth of gas would get you some in the tank. I remmember 33 cents a gallon in 66.

  • I remember when my dad used to go to Texaco, where the commercial used to say, "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star--the great big Texaco star!" The man would come to the window and ask if my dad wanted a fill up, and while he was waiting for the tank to fill up, he would even clean the windows. Then after filling the tank, he would even bring a free collectors drinking glass. All that for only 19 cents a gallon! Those were the days!

  • my gpa used to work at texico until they sold out to chevron

  • wow

  • I still remember when gas went for about $0.95 a gallon and I used to be able to get my father to take me for a ride, just because... Those *were* the days.

  • Yeah I bet you drove a v8 to ! ha ha ...

  • Uhh... I didn't drive *anything* back then, because I wasn't even 10.

  • yeah, ford 292 y-block v-8 1.00 worth would get half a tank.

  • I still do, 65 Fast Back. Though she gets about 14 gal to the mile sometimes I swear with her oh well. Haha I guess my daily driver will still be my Civ

  • Yea. But in a small town. You know everyone and you can trust almost everyone. Hell I don't even lock my truck at night. Plus I don't like the smog the city has.

  • good song!

  • there are so many songs like this that are excellent but so short...could of done with on more verse but none the less, this is a great song

  • The town I grew up in didn't have a movie theatre. We all too often wound up staring out in the distance at the 18 wheelers passing by. We knew what the world was, we didn't live far from a mid-sized city...but when you don't have your own car....

And when we did, we went 90miles an hour down the road to the river. And back just to see the tail lights flash

  • Well princess maybe I was one of those truck drivers you saw in the distance. Just maybe.

  • Maybe, you making much time in GA? Things have changed since I was a kid....sad, isn't it?

  • Princess, I reckon the last time I been to Georgia was when you were about 5-6 years old.

It was a beautiful state when I last past through. Ever heard that song Georgia On My Mind sung by Willie Nelson?

I used to haul all over the US. Coast to coast, border to border.

  • *stares at you for a moment* Uh...yeah, I've heard it. It is still a pretty slice of Southern life but...modernized

  • What part of Georgia have you been through?

  • hey i think that is a 50's chevy he is sitting in.

  • It could be a 47 1/2 to early 55 chevy truck.

    good eye.

    I had 2 '51s a COE and a 3100 1/2 ton and currently a 53 3100 and a 58 Apache.
