I can't wait for Bologna, 03/07/2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My first time to witness the spectacle in person...i've been literally dissolving along with their melodies for over a decade, a decade of musical bliss - and now i'm gonna have the privilege to witness this in person, i just can't wait! Thank you Thom, Johnny, Colin, Ed and Phil, you're just beautiful! THANK YOU!
wow this is basically a demo in 2010 before "the king of limbs" came out. this blew me away, give up the ghost is my favorite track on the album thank you soo much for posting
My parents would get mad if I walked out the door with this hair. They don't understand I may well have spent 2+ hours perfecting the sloppy mop on my head.
the crowd totally fucked up the end of that song. when he's going to phase out the voice loops little by little, everyone starts clapping and yelling. you can kinda see it irritated him.
@collinortank Thom messed up at least three times but still managed to perform flawlessly. I think his head shake at the end was more of a modest 'thanks, but I could have done better'.
@MrPaulbanks999 me neither... what an awesome, beautiful masterpice.. i really want to cry... so fckin awesoome!!!!!!!!! i hope i have the chance to listen radiohead live... im from chile! :) cheers :)

May I say one thing? If you don't play an instrument you will never fully appreciate the amount of talent it takes to play a song like this live. You may not even hear how he double tracks his voice at the end of the song and sings the chorus starting at two different places on the bar, genius. Piss off if you can't at least appreciate it.
Wow, this is insanely good. Even by Radiohead standards. He is so composed, unlike his natural stage persona. Though it probably has something to do with the atmosphere around the song.
@InkDropFalls Perfection is for those who don't make true art. Art is often gangly & searching. Artists are willing to make it happen instead of wasting time on trying to achieve perfection (which is just perspective & illusion anyway). I loved it that he allowed us to see the whole beautiful process. A great book to read to help bring out the artist, instead of the critic, in you is Julia Cameron's Artist's Way.

Awesome! This can't be a very easy song to perform and he did an exceptional job on it! This is up there with one of my most favorite Radiohead songs.
Like a flowing river, swirling, crashing, rising. The sun shimmering - Bouncing on the surface. The trees whispering, swaying with the melody. Plunge yourself into the sound, immerse yourself, lose yourself.
What is communicated so clearly in this video is the craft of building a piece of music. This song is so wonderful in its simplicity and yet rich emotionally.
I really love this song and wish, wish, wish so much that Radiohead would have spent time making a new album, versus relying on just this song and Ghost. Why were they so lazy???? Thom spent more time trying to dance for a video, than making music..... why?
@maggiebear74 I'm thinking MrUShoe is trying to point that 5 of The King of Limbs' 8 tracks are linear, drum n bass with effects and Thom's vocals, and Give Up the Ghost is a stand out track because it feels original, like most Radiohead songs are. And different, from the rest of the very short album. I still dig it, but if I wanted drum n bass and Thom, that is what the Eraser is for. I get the feeling they could make an album like this in their sleep. Obviously Thom can by himself.
@MrUShoe What are you talking about? Their new album is amazing. Lotus flower is unique. Feral is ethereal and all the other songs are simply gorgeous. And I don't think Thom spent time trying to dance... he dances like that all the time. Let alone that his dance in Lotus Flowers depicts his emotions.
@AmelieDemy Please stop drinking the Koolaid. This proves that the current Album was less that a Half azzed effort. Go back and listen to the golden era (1997-2004) and think about your comment.
@hesingshesobs I don't understand why some people are glued to the past. Yes, the era you mention was a very good one, but I prefer living in the present. Besides, I think every album that Radiohead have produced is a step away from their previous ones. If they wanted to repeat themselves, they could have easily done that.
@AmelieDemy I think you are missing my point. Sorry, a little vague. I don't give a flip about their actual finished products in that era. I was talking to the greater point of what this video represents. You have basically scene here, with a handful of flubs included, Thom do the album version of this track verbatim. If I want this, I can listen to Eraser (Which I love and think is also better than the last to LPs). A band is greater than the sum total of its parts. That's all.
Last point. You can also buy a 6000 GBP looper, give it to a monkey, and get most of what you have on KOL. With the exception of Bloom, Lotus Flower and Codex... hum, not much there sounding like the evolution one who expect you heard between Bends->OK Comp to Kid A to Amnesiac to Hail. All very different albums, very different Radiohead, but there was the evolution of musical genius between every step. So that is just my honest comment. I usually don't say much on this so forgive me
@hesingshesobs I can't agree with you. The 6000 GBP looper is not enough to make music. You could try it yourself. If you come up with anything that is decent, I'll think about it. We seem to have totally differenet opinions so let's just leave it there.
@MrUShoe you mean lotus flower? it was what 4 years. from their last album.they're just on fire, so to say. lotus flower has alot of meaning ... in the buddhist culture it is said that the lotus flower is purity of mind body and speech. Free from attachment and desire.. thom has said and shown to become attached to his music and why? well ... thats another thing. :) so that song in particular given the video, given the lyrics, given everything about the cd has become very ground breaking. noulazy
@MrUShoe first of all what the hell are you talking about and second go to hell for saying a single bad thing about this genious who enriches everyones lives with the most beautiful music on earth
@MrUShoe, You seem to be what i like to refer to as an Idler, Just like folks who like Mettalica with long hair or the David Lee roth years of van halen. Or refer to bands with I like thier older stuff. If it wasn;t for Peter Murphy's solo stuff I never would have listen to Bauhouse. grow and experience life and enjoy foward movement, progression. and Ironically do not surcome to redundency. Just make a nice martini and set the lights to chill and enjoy your life
@MrUShoe after in rainbows which where their greatest album IMO, they said that they wouldn't survive another struggle like that again, they literally killed themself while recording it, give em a break would you? i dont know if its only me but i have never experiened a band like radiohead before, that are making BRILLIANT new stuffs on every album, new sounds, new emotions, new genius art. every album they make is a new experimental god work. i owe them more than my twisted words.
@MrUShoe I completely agree. Radiohead are my favourite band and have been since Ok Computer. I've seen them several times live and they always wow me. But the new album sounds like they've just pulled it out of their collective mid-life crisis ridden arses. I love this song the way it is here (thanks Maggiebear), the album killed it ( and don't get me started on Super Collider).
@edobriensgrin yeah, the new record isn't intelligent or challenging like people seem to think it is. American bands were producing music like king of limbs (but better) in the early 2000's. Radiohead have always been innovators but this new record is just lazy indulgent shite
Whoa, whoa, whoa.. no it isn't, the version here soars above the new record version. The new record is so over-produced that it's disgusting! This is like the voice of God speaking and the new record is like the voice of Capitalism asking for cash....
@MrUShoe last i checked, Radiohead isn't exactly known for being a production-free band. they've kinda made a name for themselves by being innovative in the studio... i think most fans (and really anyone, for that matter) would say upon listening to TKOL that it really isn't screaming "BUY ME" and Radiohead as a whole isn't really the capitalistic sort. If you want to hear something really stripped down, listen to Bon Iver. Great stuff. Radiohead is more the layered and complex sort. Also great.
@MrUShoe I MUCH prefer the cambridge live version toTKOL (I even knew I would before I heard the album such is the strength of the live version). But to describe the album as "the voice of capitalism asking for cash" well it must of taken you some time to think up a statement so completely full of shit & maybe shows you have no understanding of Radiohead at all. I much prefer the basement & Bonnaroo version of videotape then the albums but I dont see what thats got to with money or capitalism??
@MrUShoe The only dispute is preference & artistic merit. Not how much money they intended for it to make. I hope this doesn't become one those typical ongoing youtube arguements filling up the page about how your dad is harder than mine etc but for you to mention money & capitalism for a Radiohead song makes me think you really dont have a clue about this band & this is possibley the first you've ever heard of them. Before you call me a wanker etc lets remember we agree on the live version.
You sneaky Thom Yorke. Putting this on the album was an excellent idea. You never fail to disappoint. Keep doing what your doing! YOUR AWESOME AT IT! :)
I can't wait for Bologna, 03/07/2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@MrUShoe surely a band who gave away an album for free/optional donation could never be deemed as capitalist

I like that version more than the album version. It's more in the sentiment of the song.

@ThePmacattack

Also great.
ThePmacattack 10 months ago
@MrUShoe I MUCH prefer the cambridge live version toTKOL (I even knew I would before I heard the album such is the strength of the live version). But to describe the album as "the voice of capitalism asking for cash" well it must of taken you some time to think up a statement so completely full of shit & maybe shows you have no understanding of Radiohead at all. I much prefer the basement & Bonnaroo version of videotape then the albums but I dont see what thats got to with money or capitalism??
bingstar316 10 months ago
@MrUShoe The only dispute is preference & artistic merit. Not how much money they intended for it to make. I hope this doesn't become one those typical ongoing youtube arguements filling up the page about how your dad is harder than mine etc but for you to mention money & capitalism for a Radiohead song makes me think you really dont have a clue about this band & this is possibley the first you've ever heard of them. Before you call me a wanker etc lets remember we agree on the live version.
