Jane Wyman is at the height of her beauty in this fine film. The sadistic feminine male nurse was played by Frank Faylen who was a great character actor, he was married to Regis Philbin's first wife. The brother was played by Phillip Terry who was married to Joan Crawford and they adopted Christina, who wrote the book"Mommie Dearest." I'm intrigued by this story because it was originally about a gay man and I'm going to find and read the book to see how it was changed to make this movie.THANKS !
What does he say at 6:39 ? Malomania ? M...mania? I can´t figure it out, because I´m still learning english ! Who can tell me? (thanks ´n regards from Germany)
This film had one hell of an impact on 1945 audiences, and still does in 2011, the scence with the Bat was a horror story. I guess the Liquor Industry offered millions of dollars to the studio if they won't make it. Thank you so much marciemaricemarcia for uploading it and for the quality of the upload. Cheers.
an oscar-worthy film, with an oscar-worthy performance. It's easy to see why this movie won the academy award for best picture. Your awesome marcie!!!
Thank you so very much for uploading this AWESOME MOVIE!!! I saw it for the first time many years ago on television and thought what a great film it was! Thanks again for the upload!!
Funny how alcohol is recognized as addictive, but cigarettes are not.

So Don stopped drinking and started molesting children. He should have stayed off the wagon.

Thanks for the post. Good movie, but totally unrealistic ending. I figure the guy fell off the wagon again the next week.

@Tarabos1 "Moral anemia." It's a figure of speech. He means he's lost his sense of morality.

Thank you so much for uploading this movie and Gentlemen's Agreement.
Because of you I have now seen all the Best Pictures except Hurt Locker.
Both of these movies were pretty good. They are never on TV probably because of the subject matter. Thank you again Jan ;)

Terrific film, my first viewing. And thanks for sharing BUT
this isn't being seen as often as it should because of the way you title it.
Nobody's going to type ThLstWknd into the search box.
And the cast list at the end would be very welcome.
Still, thank you sop much for the upload.

That was a really powerful film.
I wonder if Ray Milland won an Oscar for his performance or was at least nominated.
-off to look it up.

I bet what he wrote, virtually, was far better than Buckowski.
