i have a profire 2626 -- but i dont have a firewire port in my laptop and i dont have pcmcia express slot too - any help ? is there a way to connect it on usb or what ?!?
hi , I always have to turn the gain up all the way , the signal coming is is very weak. please give some advise. the problem happens when condenser and dinamic misc.(profire2626)thanks
i have the same 2626 interface and i have a problem: while recording sometimes cubase 6 starts getting the sound cracky and scratched (its not an interface prob cuz if i monitor the input signal souds just fine while if i monitor from cubase its cracked and if i record i record that way so what can i do to fix this thing? buffer size is ok since i can record without problem or sometimes i have it while recording normaly then its starts that.. id apriciate if u could help aLOT LIKE ALOT!!

Cheers for this. One question - how are the headphone outputs? I know from the 410 and the Projectmix that the volume tends to be a bit on the low side. That's what performers told me during sessions.
i have a profire 2626 and my problem is that i like to control the monitoring from my software! so how do i turn the DSP mixer's monitor off???? anyone??'
Doesn't it sort-of slow you down? Because right now I just select direct monitoring on my interface itself - which seems to speed things up quite a bit.
nice demo. can i use the pro2626 w/ garageband. i'm new to recording. but have recorded guitar in countless studios. i want a nice preamp to use in gband but will also work in logic after my feet are wet. i currently have the profire610. and it worx perfectly with gband and was super easy to set up.
yes it will work. Especially if you're using m-audio software already. That shows that it's compatible with m-audio. I'm using the profire 2626 and it sounds like a dream. I use Nuendo 2 for my audio recording though.
@AndThePursuit thanks bro, im just going to start watching a ton of tutorials and reas alot. know any good websites with good protools tuts? thanks again
@tokyorose999 sorry not off the top of my head, i went to school for this but there are a bunch of forums with a lot of dedicated and very helpful users. but yea you'll learn alot from the free information on the internet and no prob! good luck!
@tokyorose999 I haven't used protools hands on but I've seen it in action. To me it looks like they're the same. If you're computer savvy it shouldn't be too difficult to learn. Everything takes patience of course. If its in your heart to do then it's not difficult. It'll look like greek at first if you're not used to engineering at all. But if you're familiar with recording programs then it shouldn't be too difficult for you. It's user friendly in other words. I prefer Nuendo though.
@PimpsonofGod thanks for the advice bro my profire is being shipped as we speak comes with a copy of ableton, so i guess i will try that out first. ive heard of nuendo how is it?
@tokyorose999 It's awesome. Its so flexible. Works with any plugins that you may have. Nuendo 3 has hd support so you can record in 192 khz. Thats what the 2626 is capable. I have nuendo2 though. It only goes up to 96. So I cant use the 2626 to its full potential now. But it is awesome. I've never had clarity like this with other interfaces. And it works like a sound card of course so there is no soundcard to buy since it plugs right in to the firewire port. I've been using this about 1 1/2 year
@PimpsonofGod sounds good to me man, im gonna research it a little more maybe see if i can get a good price on a copy on ebay, thanks for the information bro! anything else i should know about the profire just let me know lol because i know nothing..ughh
There is nothing better then recording with an outboard analog mixer(like a makie or eurodesk 24 by 8 by 2) going into say a delta1010..i dont like software mixers...its like playing with a video game.
I'm not sure I get it. If the headphones are plugged into the ProFire 2626, and you're routing Ableton's master into the 2626, wont you be hearing latency from Ableton anyway? In which case wouldn't it be useful to record with the latency if you're hearing it?
The video is useful, but a more practical way to record w/ the DSP mixer (In Ableton) instead of muting the channel (because this will make impossible for punching in/out) you should turn the monitor "off" in the track. This way you hear the direct signal from the Profire, and no "doubling" from DSP and Ableton.
I need help with volume. On my old fast track ultra when using headphones it had like its independent volume but on the 2626 i have to have the main volume all the way up to have to headphones loud how do i fix this?
what if i want to hear the track being recorded through my monitors but the person recording in a different room with headphones doesnt want to hear himself like the latency
the dsp pretty much makes a direct line from the interface to the headphones. while your recording software would do the recording. if you didn't use the dsp you'd have to rout the interface to the software and then use the softwares outputs. something like that. correct me if i'm wrong or something.
I love my profire too! excellent audio interface. Has anyone had problems though with it dropping in and out? I have tried 3 computers and 5 firewire cards. It works fine with my laptop but that seems like it. Any ideas would help.
If you are connecting the profire to a control surface i.e. project mix, using the lightpipe connection, do you still need to plug the firewire 400 into your computer as well? I have a macbook pro, will it run ok on it?
Sorry for the late reply! If you just want to use the ProFire to expand the analog inputs of a ProjectMix (or a Digi003, etc) you don't need a computer attached. The ProFire will act as a stand alone analog-to-lightpipe and lightpipe-to-analog converter.
i love my profire. the only thing is i really miss having faders. do u know of any DAW control interfaces that will work with a pc to be used on pro tools while using this as my interface. thanks
Behringer BCF-2000 is the cheapest, Digi Command 8 is probably the best bang for the buck, and then there is the SSL and other more expensive Digi control surfaces.
thanks a lot. while i was looking at the command 8 i saw a mackie control universal. are they both about the same. one thing i did like about the mackie is that its expandable. also thanks for the vids on the profire, its helped me a lot. im in school for audio engineering and still learning all this stuff

I've got a Prodigy HD2 PCI soundcard that are connected to my KRK VXT6's. When I plug my headphones in to the soundcard, the speakers don't cut out.
Can I connect my monitors up to the 2626, feed my soundcard (via S/PDIF out) into the 2626 and use it to switch between headphones and speakers?

The tutorials are not online for free anymore, or howaudio.com is not working for me. anyone else have this problem?
If so, can you please upload this tutorial to a mirror site. Just bought a ProFire and would love to look at something so helpful like this

Thank you.

i m a live engineer for 14 years now
ok so that makes sense for the musician but how bout the sound engineer when mixing drums.
opening up the same plug in chain for all drum chanels could be a solution
but how bout when you do paralel comp yeah i know there is a solution for that too.
what drives me crazy now PT is telling how much latency there is on the channel and since you have the time adjuster it is not a problem.
why do i have calculate all that stuff rather mixing !!!
morton27 2 years ago
@morton27 they do automatic delay compensation in pro tools HD :/

how can i conect this 3 items ??propali

you plug the device to your imac via a firewire cable, and you plug your monitors to the outputs of the device.
FrenchBeatz 2 years ago
How practical is this for punching in?
Like when you recording a rapper who doesn't know his lyrics .
Do you have to play the track and switch over to the dsp channel when you punch and is it immediate ?
Or will he hear himself doubled and then one voice drops out.
