  • STEVE SPANGLER! .. I wanted to go to sleep 6 hours ago -_-"

  • whats a friction pen

  • i already knew it was happy holidays .. because it was the onnly words that made sense ._.

  • I cant read it saying HAPPY HOLIDAYS, before you heat it.....

  • so cool

  • how could you not decode it anyway :L

  • WTF! How teh paper don't burn ?

  • @4ForEveron4 becasue the flame didnt get in contact with the paper, its just behind it :)

  • where can i get a friction pen

  • it's the type of ink.

  • Those FriXion pens are so cool! I was glad because I didn't need White-Out anymore. They work by erasing the ink using heat.

  • @Jughead2950 Don't use them on checks though. :P

  • Simply because the friction pen has a special ink that can be erased by applying heat. Thus, its eraser at the other tip

  • why adult supervision?

  • i have both of those pens xDDD

  • Cool

  • :O how you do that :O

  • Just wondering, wouldn't the paper burn? :/

  • COOL BUT FAKE :P

  • my paper burned

  • For the amount of time it takes to burn the fake letters away, the person you are showing the message two probably noticed the "secret message" about 5 minutes for its revealed...

  • i don't know where to buy adult supervision?? but i got everything else though.

  • this happens because the friction pen works in that way because the ink is special it uses a ink that will disappear when it gets to a certain heat and the friction pen create the heat by rubbing the rubber on the other tip of the pen

  • Hmm, is the ink is the same ink that ATM used?

  • Merry Christmas!

  • now we can be spys *-*

  • meheh

  • Friction creates heat. So the fire creates heat to erase the friction pen's letters (ink).

  • @stevespanglerscience Evaporation? idk XD

  • Waffle magic

  • oooooooo its an eraseable pen!

  • Could this work if someone sat the paper on something warm? Like an oven door or warm towel?

  • :)

  • Ok, but so like what if I burn the paper? Then the message will have to be written in ash?

  • i love those " adult supervision" at the end of the list...

    lol

  • Any body can read the HAPPY HOLIDAYS. its together, not scattered.

  • i don't can

    and i have a pilot

  • pilot fixon

  • i dont get it

  • banana

  • It's thermosensitive ink

  • the way i think it happens is that it has an ironing effect like when the heat was added the indentions were flattend out leaving the ink behind

  • You could put random letters in between the message so you can't easily guess it...?

  • The friction pens ink goes away from heat generated by friction. When a lighter is next to it then it gives off heat and causes the ink to disappear

  • Is that a pilot G2 pen? I have one! You can modify the pen so that it will shoot out the in cartrige

  • Where can one buy a friction pen?

  • can it be any kind of paper or is it spechel kind of paper

  • Um i accidently burnt the paper

  • it happens because friction pens have special ink that disappear when heat is applied so the name "friction pen" because when u erase it with an eraser it makes heat from the friction. :)

  • Would of been cooler if u use the fire then all the ink goes away but reveals a message that wasn't written on the paper

  • this is a ripoff

  • or just start erasing it with normal eraser :P

btw those friction pens come really handy when i have a test! :D

  • It works with any kind of paper any kid of regular pen and for you "special" ones out there. Yes it works with any kind of light but the secret is the friction pen. It's uses a special ink that when friction (heat) is applied it disappears you might know these as erasable Pens. I had them two years ago and they work amazing and are super useful but ya that's how it works.

  • Now I know how friction pen works. It doesn't rely on the force you apply (just like how you erase graphite pencil marks using an eraser) for the text to be erased. It relies on friction (or on the heat that the friction generated) to be erased. I just got the concept behind it!

  • Friction causes heat hence removing the letters and the name friction pen

  • Friction ink needs friction ( heat) to be removed. When you put the fire on the back , they were removed thus revealing the message. am i right?

  • Nice stuff

  • WHOA

  • you can see the message even when it IS encoded, you probably should put random letters in between the actual message

  • very nice!

  • Friction creates heat. And the ink can only come off with heat ;)

  • what is a friction pen?

  • i was expecting pee ink XD

  • I use to be able to do this....then I took an arrow to the knee

  • that was aaaaaaaaaah fire aaah my hand ouhcy

  • at 0:31 you can see the message

  • Do our adults need adult supervision too?

  • This is really dangerous because i might accidentally light the paper then drop the paper out of fear. then my rug could catch on fire later spreading to the whole house. so my whole house could burn down just because of you. Thanks

  • Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  • niceee :) love it :) i am soo trying it

  • Show a trick that i can perform in school without getting banned for using fire. :D

  • just tried that....burnt the paper :/

  • like burning the paper wasnt enough... now i dont have a christmas tree ):

  • Because holding a lighter up to a piece of paper is very safe.

  • enter on youtube....

oh a new Stevespanglerscience video this is awesome

    aham...

    5 MINUTES LATER

    NOOO MY HOUSE IN BURNING!!!

  • @mordok16 with any of his u might need a fire extinguisher

  • Like if you did NOT see the message before it was uncovered :P I couldn't

  • @xXLiiVeWiiReXx i know right i saw it to

  • @xXLiiVeWiiReXx i did...

  • Does it work with normal paper ?

  • You always put on safety goggles but they're never in the materials list.

  • my paper is on fire ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • He didn't mention that this kind of ink appears again after a freezer bath ;)

  • @DjHacker93 it does?

  • The ink in the friXion pen must be more soluble than the regular ink pen, and increasing the temperature increases the solubility and the entropy so it evaporates ???

  • 0:35 looks so dirty :D just sayin

  • @tonchita91 How does it look dirty?

  • lol you can see the message in the random letters

  • @thejerber44 Yes, you most definitely can see the message, but what if letters were spread randomly and had filler letter in-between, like SECRET - SGAZEHEWCJRWRVXEEXT? :)

  • Sick science sick science science of sick

  • deja vu

  • This is because of how friction pens work by using the heat from the friction to 'erase' the ink so in short friction pen inks dissapear when heat is applied

  • MAGIC

  • goooooooood

  • the friction pen erases with heat so when you apply heat to it it erases

  • Fake my paper died :'(

  • That is AWESOME!!!!

  • So if the friction pen ink disappears, will it come back after the paper has cooled?

  • what kind of sorcery is this????

  • Because friction causes heat and thats why the pen goes away when you apply friction. So just directly applying heat does the same thing!

  • what just happened

  • You could probably use the eraser on the friction pen to reveal the message in a more safer manner ;)

  • science;)

  • cant live without those friction pens

  • wow... good!!!

  • awesome!!

  • 1:st and COOL!

  • @louisestar9 Fail

  • Cool

  • I knew this already! but thanks!

  • amazing

  • nice :D

  • Wow! I never would've been able to read the message otherwise!

  • @elysiumx2 tilt ur screen

  • Nice!

  • cool!...and first

  • Wouldn't the paper catch on fire?

  • what kind of sorcery is that! :O

  • derp

  • WOW

  • the friction pen ink is less durable than proper ink so the heat from the thingy makes it look like the friction pen ink has dissapeared :P i think

  • The heat causes the indentations in the paper to shrink and disappear.

  • So, how do you see the secret message after hiding it?

  • Lol Awesome

  • 304 veiw for chuck norris?

  • Nobody in my locality has a darn friction pen... :(

  • SO COOL :D

  • Awesome! I think it is because the friction ink can't stand heat and then condensates

  • oh haha nice :D:D

  • can you also use the friction pen directly without the normal pen

  • Very cool, i love science and i love the proffesionality in these videos.

  • okay................................cool

  • can you also use the friction pen directly without the normal pen

  • Cool...

  • Thats cool :)

  • What ???????????

  • i can see the message even with the other random letters?

  • Love these (:

  • nice

  • OMGOMGOMGOMG

  • old like rasins

  • What is a friction pen?

  • It's fascinating! Well, I wonder how the friction pen worked. Can we use other things to write the secret message?

  • coolio

  • OIC.

  • Ahh. The legacy of the Secret Message. Love it!

  • teh efff?

  • Hi Steve!

  • OMG that so freakin cool LOL

  • that is amazing!

  • loved it

  • i like science

  • Magnets

  • Cool.

  • Loving the Videos Steve!

  • thumbs up if you think Word Search should be made like this

  • Nice
