  • watch?v=SUFwoFWIP0I

  • Use unetbootin.

  • @TechnoPank I did and it is a hell of a lot simpler.... i was messed up trying to understand ISO terminology.... with unetbootin there is no learning curve.

  • why dont you just install it to the usb?

  • Comment removed

  • I can't find the .ISO download can some one plz help me :)

  • @MrGabeunit96 I think you hav to burn it to a CD... that was my hangup too. then i used unetbootin utility and it got real simple....

  • What are the benefits of using linux? can anyone explain it to me please?

  • @anonymexxx Virus and Spyware free, and it's very fast. You can run Windows programs using WINE, and it barely crashes.

  • When i try boot from USB it says 'Missing Operating System', any ideas?

  • i cant get my flash driver to format to fat 16 and it just hangs on reboot

  • 0:24 @SalsTavern no netbook has a cd drive! (if you have something like a netbook with a built in drive, let me know please!)

  • Will my Logitech camera software work on Ubuntu? (Logitech c510)

    Please Reply! :)

  • @brutaka359 sorry dude, i really don't know

  • @SalsTavern Hey, When your installing it, I seem to have trouble installing it. It seems to stop during all the mass commands it does. Help?

  • @brutaka359 Yes, You need to install a program called "Cheese". It works with EVERY webcam you would ever want to you. You can record video and cap pictures. It will also work online for things like tinychat. And it should work with Skype.

  • @brutaka359 Give it a try and see! :)

  • @brutaka359 it should, ubuntu has very good hardware support

  • I have an aspire one and i cannot get on my netbook what so ever. I have tried installing ubuntu so many times but there is no option to boot it, someone help please.

  • why wast a cd on that just exder the iso witb winrar

  • @TheCoolkedde lol bro i did the same ting XD

  • Am I able to use an SD card instead of a USB stick since I dont have a USB?

  • @detox2retox sure, just check the bios that you can boot from memory card reader slot..

  • @detox2retox Sometimes if your card reader is hooked up to a usb port on the motherboard (or header) the board will reconize the sd as a bootable flash drive, thus a alternative way of installing the os.

  • why don't you use Cam Studio, it is a free screen recorder.

  • @jazzmaster700 it is easy to use?

  • @SalsTavern yes actually, it just has the record button, and stop and pause, so it is pretty simple!

  • @SalsTavern yes

  • @SalsTavern yes

  • @SalsTavern Yes

  • @SalsTavern Yes, it's easy)

  • @SalsTavern camstudio is really easy to use and is in great quality if you like i will make a tutorial :P

  • @jazzmaster700 that wouldn't allow him to record the laptop XD hehehe

and he will need to use a VirtualBox to record the booting XD

  • lol there is an add for windows 7 for this did they think that I would want windows 7 that is why I am watching this.

  • Nice video, I have one question. How do you make the PC boot windows first instead of ubuntu. I usually use windows and don't wanna boot linux every time I start the PC.

    Thx

  • i have watched 2,3 videos but it is the most simplest and great video ..thumps up boy <3

  • @KKHANK2 YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! THX!

  • @SalsTavern

dude tell me 1 thing i have p3,600 MHz, 128 ram, windows xp as operating system. i'm facing problem installing from USB stick....tell me what should i do ? i have created usb ..all is done but pc is not picking Usb stick :(

  • @KKHANK2 have u gone into the system BIOS and selected to boot from USB?

  • @SalsTavern

it doesn't appear their ? it shows PXE, CD-rom, Drive A, Drive C something like this but not USB

  • why am i stock at verification boot?

  • Debian (You know Debian, it's what Canonical hacked and made Ubuntu from) is ALOT easyer to install on a netbook, you just dd the Netinst image (With NO aditional potions, so even a idiot can do it), plug to your netbook, and walla, Installing! PLUS! I do NOT recommand Ubuntu on a Netbook becaus it is SLOW! Alot slower than Debian, so, for a netbook OS, Debian works Better!

  • @merkur32123 thanks for the tip! will remember if I'm asked to install linux on netbook!

  • Awesome Vid.

Thx for making it noob proof.

  • i have an acer aspire one. if i download it straght from the webstite. is it for sure going to set up, and if i want to switcch back to windows. would i be able to???

  • @joshdakewl1994 There's an option in the installation menu to just try it out without actually modifying your harddrive.

  • you definitely said without a CD D;

  • when i go to my boot menue i have 3 usb slections

    1: USB FDD

    2: USB HDD

  • @tttlycoolxtreme7dude try usb hdd if that doesn't work try usb cdrom

  • it wont let me make start disk is in gray please help

  • You'll find Windows 7 on this website -

    downloadblinks . C__O__M

  • ubuntu 10.10 notebook have drive for wireless adapter or how large usb need to be.

  • I HAVE THAT NETBOOK <3

  • Just want to say thank you for sharing I truely appreciate. The tutorial gave me confident I am going to try it now hope it will work for me like it did for you. Regards

  • does this work for ubuntu 10.10

  • @dandaninglis as long as the usb creator file can be found..yes

  • did u consider an easier method? Like Unetbootin or Pendrive Linux installer?

  • @TeruMikami2345 im not saying this is the ONLY, but it's an option I found and used...

  • @SalsTavern oh, its just i found this to be difficult, mainly for Linux Newbies who dont know

  • @TeruMikami2345 Yes there is....... If you are talking about wasting a CD just install a program called

virtual clone drive (free-ware) and then click on the ISO and auto play should pop up saying you have a CD inserted. When you are finished with the virtual CD eject it by going to my computer and right clicking the virtual CD and clicking eject.

  • Hi wondering if I could get some help, I did everything you did in the video and when my netbook loads it comes up with SYSLINUX 3.82..... Peter Anvin et al. Any Ideads on what to do to fix this problem.

  • wow okay, here again...inserted the USB drive into the netbook, rebooted as normal but instead of loading up the UBUNTU installer boot menu, it simply stops at that very briefly flashing message before the menu. It reads 'Syslinux 3.82 2009-06-09 Ebios copyright 1994-2009 Peter Anvin et al' ... and just stays there. After a while, the computer starts beeping.

It doesn't work on the PC I'm currently using either. it's the same message as what appears on my acer netbook.

    Any...ideas?

  • I've burned the CD, but the 'make startup disk' option is GREYED OUT for me. The application detects both the drives but it doesn't seem to want to let me click that button.

Tried several different types/brands of flash drives (both sandisk and lexar)

Tried several different computers (one with 64-bit AND another with 32 bit windows 7), and even tried formatting the drive several times... :S this is so typical, everything i've tried has failed.

  • @BrEnNo1023 omg now it's decided to work this time...sigh...unbelievable. maybe it felt sorry for me because i'm on my umpteenth try :S grr

  • You don't need to burn the cd dude!! Just mount the ISO.

  • @NetHead87 and i do this how? im rather new to all this

  • i have an external one but igot it to work and it wasthe worst thing ive ever seen. not .exe u likeneed to know how to write codeand shit soi just deleted it and dl windowsxp( sorry for the spaces my key board is fucked)

  • @MoeSoder sorry to hear it didnt work out...thats really odd

  • @MoeSoder Windows XP is a di*ks*cking os so you did noot loose much

  • @merkur32123 all i need either XP or ubuntu for was a way to download an iso program to get windows 7 ultimate so that why i said that ubuntu was gay. and i alsoo said it because the computer i have is meant for gaming so .exe are a must.

  • ok i need help people i just built a new computer and i want to install ubuntu on it but i made a usb as it said in the site plugged it in and followed many directions but nothing ever happened.

  • @MoeSoder dont u have a cd rom drive? this video is to install Ubuntu on netbooks without drives

  • lol you sound like that guy frome southpark, with the big head. He always say's Okay?

    no offence

  • @zatlapp lol! no offence taken "mmmkaaaaay"

  • 先看看

  • When I click the 'Make start up disk' I keep getting this error ' An Uncaught exception was raised: Error 5 access denied u'E:\\ldlinuxsys'

I am kind of stuck now , did I use the wrong kind of DVD I used Maxwell recordable cd

  • If you wanna get MS Windows 7 now, go to:

    downloadblinks . c0m

  • Very nice tutorial, but I have very weird problem - everything detects and I can see my mounted with Alcohol .iso and my usb (8 gigs) but I cant't press "Make sturtup disc"!!! I have only "quit" button that works like it should.

What would you suggest to use (app) for creating bootable usb with 10.10 ubuntu?

    Thank You!

  • @MrMMMichail i have the same proplem and i dont now why or what to do

  • @theshiningeagle I tried it one more time and it worked for me (really have no idea why). I launched USB-creator, and began clicking "Removeable disk to use" (J:/ ). So, only after this "Make startup disk" appeared.

But... you know, it was useless. Because when you reboot with usb stick it shows you error.

If you wanna try Ubuntu, the best way to do this - install it from Windows with Wubi.

  • Not to make you feel like an idiot... But why didn't you just mount the image?

  • @czpanama no offence taken, the suggestion of mounting the image has been posted in the comment section previously.

  • Do you still keep your current OS

  • @SwAg3rJaCkEr if u choose to make the ubuntu ti be side to side!

  • @Pivotclorium in english please

  • @SwAg3rJaCkEr huh that is english xDD

  • @coldblooded482 yes

  • do i need it in FAT16 for the desktop version?

  • thank you this set me on the right track

  • @Addict466 you're very welcome....but you're only on the true right path when u subscribe ;)

  • @SalsTavern sure :)

  • @Addict466 THANKS!

  • will this get rid of windows or can you resart your computer without the usb and go back to windows

  • @drummer610 this only formats the memory key

  • @drummer610 you can replace windows or install on a partition

  • @coldblooded482 yes, its a flavor of linux.

  • ...or just get daemon tools and run the iso...

  • @SaladGeek You can't boot off an image mounted with Daemon.

  • ...er..burn to a cd witout a cd rom go to the hospital!

  • hey buddy we have the same net book can i ask how to install drivers of that msi inspiron mini to a ubuntu os?

  • ...Um...how do you install Ubuntu on a netbook if you have no other computers but a netbook? ^^''...

  • @gaaraanime5 off the top of my head....download the image...virtually mount the .ISO image and run 'usb-creator'...

i believe someone has mentioned this earlier

  • hey i tried installing but it keeps on download ing some files on and on whats that???

how much time does it take to install this ??

  • Use Wubi.

  • Comment removed

  • thanxxxx buddy.

  • can it work on pc

  • @368mane i dont see why noy

  • you dont need the cd

  • ... without CD ROM or DVD Drive ...

step 2. BURN .ISO TO DISC ... burn to disc ? sounds like FAIL to me ;)

  • @lilmilo78 no, it's INSTALL Ubuntu without a CD / DVD Rom DRIVE...got it...DRIVE! Netbooks don't have a drive.

    Your Comment..FAIL!

  • @SalsTavern hey sal, no offense meant! like your vids - it only sounds funny to me.

  • @lilmilo78 ok ok no worries, it's totally kewl! thanks for commenting dude!!

  • @SalsTavern

hmm, why not virtually mount the .ISO, instead of burning it to cd?

there're a few free apps to virtually mount it.

burning it is actually a lil more complicated and stuff, specially for beginners

    anyway, good vid :)

  • @madjunir thanks for watching and your feedback. yes, for those familiar with mounting virtual drives, you can mount and prepare the USB memory key

  • can i install it from my netbook computer? answer please

  • @3dsuperplayer i guess...I installed it on a Dell netbook

  • If you cant wireless to work try using Ndiswrapper. It allows you to use windows drivers for wireless adapters

  • will this work if I use an SD Card instead of USB

  • Hi,

Could you please help me with some step-by-step instructions on how to install Ubuntu 10.04 on a notebook which does not have neither Network Connection, nor USB :) ? I can remove the hard-disk and connect it via a USB Rack to another laptop.

  • I hate my acer aspire computer because it wont allow me to Cd/ usb boot automatically. I try to open up my BIOS by pressing "delete" twice and it says i need a fuckin password. The only way i can install is with wubi :( if you can help me i would be thankful

  • i have a dell mini 10 too...i am having trouble installing the netbook version, when i click on usb-creator there is iso and when i select it by clicking "other" i did not burn the files to a cd which might be the reason..is there a way to do it without a cd?

  • Ahhhh ok? ahhhh ok? ahhhh ok? ahhh OK? please habe a script.

  • yeah i use winrar too =]

  • y dont u just install it to ur netbook

  • if i install ubuntu will i still be able to boot my currently installed os, which by the way is windows 7.

  • @btsouthmost yes..../watch?v=GhnLk3gviWY

  • @orgasmictalk thanks

  • will u please help me.i cant connect internet in ubuntu.how can i connect internet in ubuntu ?

  • download unetbootin (universal netboot installer) and you can bypass the entire process of burning to cd. You open netbootin and choose the version of linux you want , then point it to the location of the iso, and it then formats your flash drive into a ubuntu livecd. This can also be used from what i've heard to burn windows installation isos to flash as well.

  • can u instal the normal one on a netbook, like can u install the non-netbook edition on a netbook?

  • Good video(s) thanks.

  • you dont need to burn on cd it can do that from iso file

  • @azzazazel

i tried installing ubuntu without a cd and in the "make startup disk" screen when u lcick on usb-creator the iso is not shown and when i browse for it and open it, it still doesnt show...how did u get it to work without a burned cd

  • I find the netbook editions very boring, I much prefer to have a "real" os I also prefer linux mint 9, however I have the least friendly netbook for linux ever the dreaded acer aspire one 751h. I'm still waiting for the rest of the drivers to come out for the gma 500 graphics chip.

  • My wireless network doesn't work when I use it!

  • what camera did you use to make the video? Thanks

  • 10.04 wont work on my pc eveytime i try to install it it gets to about 80% then my computer crashes

  • i cannot get my ubuntu to connect to my wireless internet

  • @evrdrandosity yup, i got this problem too. If ANYONE has a fix, please reply! I have a Dell Mini10 netbook!

  • @SalsTavern you must know your w-lan device google then for linux support. sometimes companys do make w-lan drivers for linux sometimes you need to use opensource drivers.

  • @SalsTavern make a rigth clik on the wifi bar and clik enable wireless

  • @SalsTavern Have you tried installing 9.10, because it turns out that the broadcom cards don't work on 10.04 as of now, so try that if you've tried everything else.

  • @SalsTavern If you are able to connect your netbook using a Ethernet cable plug it in. This will allow you to download the wireless card drivers. I have a dell mini 1012 which did not recognize the wireless card and I fixed it that way. When you connect using the Ethernet cable simply go to device manager (I Think that's what its called but I could be wrong" and it will detect your wireless card and you can then install the driver from there.

  • @SalsTavern yeah same proble too =D but I fix it what I do is to connect directly to internet NO WIRELESS then Ubuntu will download some drivers then install it and there you go =D (sorry for my english T_T) if you dont understand me I will put this in spanish =D its not hard to put that in a traslator (terrible english T_T)

  • @evrdrandosity what netbook do u have and have u find a fix?

  • am dude, how much GB must be USB Key ?

  • @bICEQ At least 1 Gb

  • @SalsTavern Oh, thanks mate !

  • @bICEQ the site says 2gb witch sucks cuz all of mine are 1gb

  • oops i guess it did post twice haha. thanks for the help

  • @dragracer try WinRAR, free for 30 days....or so

  • ok apparantley my last comment didnt post... basically i was just wondering what you have on your computer to read iso files. I have windows 7 and when i burned it to cd then tried opening it, my computer said it could not read the file.

  • @dragracer464 try downloading poweriso. it's a free software that can be found in download(.)com. Remove the ().
