The part where everyone is at school is actually just there to show Shinji that he didn't need to pilot an EVA for him to continue living, that he could live in another kind of life if he wanted to. He was just building up excuses to avoid a change in his life, and said piloting EVA was the only thing everyone wanted him to do.

Technically it tells you that you should do what you decide to find your true happiness and not wait for someone else to give it to you.

@TehLeek I wouldn't say it with every dub, there are Animes like Yu-Gi-Oh! oder Pokemon were the licensor (most times 4kids) made da bunch of crab out of a good anime. But many Animes have a quite acceptable voice dub, when the licensor make the right decisions and choose the right voice actors for the characters. Of course a voice dub will never completely sound like the original, but that's on the other hand something good, cause so every dub in every language have it's goals.
