The bf has bought me a kobo e-reader for xmas, we considered the kindle as well, but in my area we were able to get the kobo touch for a better price. I just wanted something basic to start with since we're on a SUPER tight budget right now. I'm definitely looking forward to using it on xmas day! She is absolutely right. I owned the Kindle Fire for a week and it was the perfect media consumption device (books, music, apps etc). I took it back for an iPad mainly because I already have so much Apple purchased content I would have to re-buy most in order to get it on my Kindle Fire. Hey Nat, this is a great video... so glad you're back on YT again! I am really interested in the Kindle Fire... I have a question though-

Are you able to log onto say, nbc.com or abc.com and watch their TV episodes thru the Kindle Fire? I know you can watch Amazon Prime Videos but I wasn't sure about other sites... Also, can you use Twitter on it?

When you're away from home and don't have wifi, does it still work the same?

@amina3203 you can get on other wifi networks, but you can't access anything that you haven't downloaded to your actual kindle - if you know you are not going to be able to access the internet, then make sure the books/music/movies are on the physical drive

I also have a Kindle Fire. I can't watch Youtube videos. I thought I would be able to, it was one of the reason I got it. It is my first Kindle so I'm not sure if I have to find a app to be able to.

Have you tried it and or know of a app that will let me sign into my Youtube and let me watch my subscriptions? Would love your feedback. Thanks :)

@MrsSoulSeeker no need to find an app - click the web button at the top and then type youtube - I have watched plenty of videos on it because it's just like watching from any other web browser. If you go to the app store, there are a few YouTube apps you can download as well.

Ah man you're slowly convincing me to look into the kindle fire even though I already have a kindle LOL. I like that the original kindle isn't backlit because it's easier on my eyes, but the kindle fire is such a good price for everything it does. LOVE that case too. @iluvjesse444 yea I'm happy my hair is growing so quickly :) We have 5 kindles here and they all serve a purpose, but when you can essentially buy a tablet for $200 that does just about everything the iPad does, you gotta jump on it :)

@Juxt13 I hadn't thought about it, but I can. I have the same opinion on that one that I have on the Touch though. I'd say get the touch b/c it's only $20 more for a newer technology. As far as reading and audio books are concerned, it works fantastic!

I had the new nook that came out in june. Not the nook color or the new one thats out. When I was setting it up I had trouble configuring the wifi and it wouldn't let me continue the set up. I would of had to go to a place that had a wifi but it was complicated so I returned it.

@makeupqueen666 yep! if you use a cable to connect it (I used the one that came with the Kindle Touch which is a mini USB) you can transfer files onto your kindle or you can simply put them on the cloud and listen to them that way. If you plan on using the Kindle Fire to store media to play away from WiFi you have to download a media gallery app (there is a free one) and then it will show up. Otherwise it doesn't. Took me a few days to figure that out. Forums do suck.

@SamsHabeby yes :) you can - any app you can find for an android phone is available b/c the kindle is android technology if I'm not mistaken...I have firefox on my kindle - it's a very nice browser and fast!! Go for it :)

@Pooq45 You don't have to be rude, but if you are going to blast me on my channel, you might want to check your math. We have a total five Kindles. If a small company made them and the quality was exceptional, I would have spent the money on them. All I was saying was I couldn't find nice cases and I love supporting small businesses through etsy. Don't be nasty, it's uncalled for and I won't tolerate it on my channel.

What is the difference between a kindle fire and a nook tablet. Do you have to get all your books from amazon. Im getting one but unsure between the to. I like to get ebooks of ebay can you put them on it. I want to make sure I get one that has everything.

@luckeycharm73 No you definitely don't have to get the books from Amazon. You can upload any books you have. I have created my own mobi files using converters online and uploaded them to all of the kindles. The difference is the fire will play pretty much any type of file. Get them off ebay, torrents, friends, etc. They all work!
