You can hear Alvarez beautiful voice here - even though he needs more training.

Remember that Nicolai Gedda almost got rejected when he applied to the Royal Opera House in Sweden. Everybody said his voice was beautiful but too weak.

But one person said:

His voice will get stronger with study and practise - This made them accept him as a student. The one person in favour of Nicolai Gedda was Jussi Bjorling!

as katherine said this is not a lament. it´s quite the oposite. He is astonished because he saw a tear falling from her eye when he was with the other girls and that teat tells him that she loves him and that is what he was longing for during the hole opera.

And it is not sung like Otello. Alvarez was not complitelly trained in this pont of his carreer. I think this is his first role in an opera. may be the second. You can hear a great voice in his more natural state. sorry for my english
