  • Its ok. A gibson never fails! Lol

  • What are the chords of the very first song you're playing? :D

  • hey if use this was the rosewood or ebony neck invader pickups with a boss sd-1 and in a epiphone valve special tuned down to c would i get a good metal scremo metal core sound?

  • this review was a piece of shit If I focus on the distorted sounds but anyway great job!

  • is it mexican made ?

  • Amazing ! what is the amp ? thanks

  • aren't you fucking tired of always playing the same shitty riffs xO !!!!!!!!!!!

  • who do you like better the marshall or your orange?

  • Wonderful guitar, the tones and styling of a vintage Fender with the attributes that a modern player would want it to have. I bought this guitar in Black from Fox UK Music a couple months back and man, the f**king tone and raw power just through a little fender 10g amp was immense! search them up 'fox products' they're a couple results down from the top of page.

  • I want it with EMG and for hardcore too!! It looks awesome

  • I have a question. I've been looking into Teles for a long, long time, and when I found out about the HH version, I became split. Coming from a Punk rocker, I've always wanted a chance to rock out on a Humbucker, and with the amount of treble the Tele puts out would just be amazing. But because its a HH set up, do I lose that classic treble vibe or does it still retain that Tele sound?

  • @NJP695 Still retains the sound. These humbuckers are voiced for Teles, not like there balls-to-the-wall actives. Of course its not 100% tele vibe since that comes from single-coils, but close enough. Teles are the most versatile guitars in the world.

  • @Bludhoundz8 They really are not the most versatile guitar in the world. Far from it.

  • @Nickpatient How so? I can go on for days explaining why they are.

  • @Bludhoundz8 They're pretty much single coil guitars. A Gibson with a veritone or coil tap is more versatile. Not to mention that nowadays pretty much any of these old designs (Which are still the best in my mind) are rendered completely obsolete in terms of versatility with the new Variax's and that ugly Firebird X etc. :)

  • @Nickpatient Haha, true, true =p But the Firebird X is massively expensive... and ugly... dunno what Gibson was thinking. I don't see these designs as obsolete, but rather tried and true systems. We still use them and they won't be obsolete until guitars like the Firebird X start to become mass produced and robots start to walk the earth. (which i hope never happens!)

  • @Bludhoundz8 I really hate Variax and Firebird X type guitars to be honest. I think they just distract people from actually playing. As Keef would say "Is it a tool or is it a toy?". What'dya think of Tele's with P90's? I have a 335 (Which to me is the Gibson camp's equivalent to the Tele) and I want to be able to fill out the rest of the tonal spectrum with another guitar. I really love Tele's and want to have one but, I just can't deal with single coil pickup harshness.I love P90's though. :D

  • @Nickpatient Yes, exactly! Took the words right out of my mouth. Thats why I like to keep effect pedal usage to a bare minimum, and only use the essentials (pretty much nothing except for a noise supressor), um.. I've never played a Tele with a P90 before. Seymour Duncan offers some noiseless single-coils, by the way :) And they sound amazing. Personally I just prefer a bridge humbucker for that warm, agressive bite, and a neck single-coil for that awesome clean tone. :) My personal fav setup.

  • @NJP695 What you want is P90 guitar. They sound better than either Humbuckers or Singlecoils and are a nice middle ground between the two. :)

  • Very thorough... Thanks TTK!

But seriously, please tune it next time... ;-)

  • i luv the fendee blacktop series like candy apple Red with Rosewood Fretboard and don't like maple im a rosewood fan

  • And that is definitely not the position for playing a guitar..

  • Oh god, just spend more time on planning your reviews, they are kinda pointless and play clearer tones, you sound like a 14 year old kid who has just learned Sweet child o' mine...

  • haha "OK" ! Gotta love it, mine is on an epic journey towards my humble domain as we speak...

  • Hi, do you think there is a difference in quality between the MIM and the MIA makes of this guitar? I bought one online and it is an MIM, but I've never played an MIA so I'm not sure what the differences between the MIA would be

  • what song is this your playing in the begnning? i would like to play something smooth like this can you give me the tabs and chords?

  • great combination..marshall and the tele-humbuggies...

  • Wow, i love his melody :)

  • Do you know if you can install a coil tap on this guitar?

  • @angstfilledbass yeah you can i am in the proccess of doing mine

  • ToneKing what do you think ... This baby with EMG 85 in the bridge and EMG 60 in the Neck for Hardrock and Metal ?

Love the look of Telecaster, and don't find the rigth guitar for me ...

    please answer

  • @redukonio I think that would be killer!!

  • @lmsjr OMG whata fast response :) THX

Did you ever try somthing similar ?

Tele with EMG s , any expirience?

  • @redukonio I did the same thing to my Blacktop Stratocaster, and i've never looked back. I can play anything from Journey to Metallica. They're EMG's, and in a Blacktop they just look plain sexy. Tell me how you like it man!

  • I want. A lot.

  • How's the sound compared to a regular Tele with single coils? I really want a good old fashioned tele sound.

  • @OptoOcto You can sort of coax some classic tele sounds out of it, but by and large it is a totally different animal imo.

  • What's the pickup does this guitar have? I have a telecaster without any pickups and searching for some.

  • Dude, you sound like Ace Frehley

  • so is this the silver one?

  • Nice looking tele man,but im a strat man, then tele lol! anyways nice tele especially the color.

  • Whats the difference between tele an strat black top guitars ?

  • @stavroszottas on the strat there are five pickup positions and a tremolo, the tele has three pickup positions and no tremolo, both are made of alder and have maple or rosewood fretboards.

  • is the neck thinner than a 50s profile gibson neck?

  • 2:46 "The wood is made of alder" ?!?

  • I want my room to have wall's of guitar heads instead of wallpaper :)

  • @lmsjr what are ur amp settings

  • older

  • ok

  • what is the amp ? thanks

  • do you recommend this for metal??

  • @martje8 no. it doesn't give it a sound heavy enough for metal. Try a les paul.

  • @rowdybridges Thanks, I'm going for the Epiphone Goth Explorer (and put the emg's 81/60's in them) but i'm going to buy it in octobre, so I got plenty of time to reconcider

(sorry for bad English, I'm Dutch.)

BTW: For all the people who think that Dutch is the same as French, You're an Idiot. Most people don't even speak French

  • @martje8 closer to german right?

  • @dougthealligator Right!!!!

BTW I'm Martje8, but I can't sign in on my other account (you know Google and Youtube account)

  • look your revieews are great but since im lookin for buyin one of this i really like HOT pickups so whichones are hotter the tele or the strat or the jaguar or the jazzmaster

  • I f*king hate telecasters.... or do I? I don't know anymore :(

  • Is a tele lighter than a stratacaster?

  • @CWModels1 Most likely not. Some strats are heavy though.

  • i still dream of the day ill get my HH Telecaster with Maple Fretboard their so beutifull!!!

  • red with rosewood fretboard is better

  • @BMXBOBO For me it was down to red with rosewood or black with maple. When I saw them in person, there was no question which one I was getting. The black looks absolutely wicked.

  • I am beginning to like the HH Tele tone. Needs some Humbuckers that are not too hot. Perhaps PAF,

  • My Strat needs a new friend. Maybe I shall introduce these two? <3

  • I really like the Bridge selection. That's the sound I've been looking for in a guitar. I just might buy this now.

  • proper job on the video...i was wondering wether i needed to replace the pick ups if i bought this guitar but this shows i dont...thanks dude, mega helpful vid!

  • would you say $450 is cheap for this guitar? Even tho its a Fender, does it matter that it costs so little? :\ Because i'm thinking of buying one of these?

  • @MrLukeySkywalker does not matter at all, buy one before fender realizes how great they are and recalls them.

  • Sounds like a decent guitar, except i'd love to hear it through a Vox AC30. Not much of a marshall guy.

  • I would install a 500K Push/pull tone pot so I could wire the two pick ups to be either in series/Parallel, or just have them both split for a lower out put single coil tones. With the push/pull pot you will now have 6 completely different usable tones* I'm just wondering if those Hums in this Blacktop have 4 conductor leads, and if these pick ups are actually potted well to withstand Hi MESA BOOGIE MARK IIC + tone with no squealing. Thanks for the info Tone KIng. JL

  • Sounds great.

    *Check my Tele demo.

  • "the wood is made of alder"

  • what are amp knobs?

  • @SpearmintSixString It's the same knobs that Fender uses on their amps. They usually use different knobs on their guitars, but I really like the look of the amp knobs.

  • does this guitar made in usa?

  • @Tzachi076S Mexico.

  • I WANT IT FOR CHRISTMAS I WANT IT! I WANT IT SO BAD!!!!!! :DDDDDDDDDD But I am not getting one. I already have my Squier Tele CVC :D

  • TK, are you going to review the Blacktop strat? Might be a good comparison.

  • HAHA the dude sounds like Peter Griffin :)

  • @acousticguitarist201 maybe accent wise.

  • love that flipped control plate, great review brotha!

  • can it play metal?

  • Gibson should learn to do some Affordable Good Looking guitars, with their logo on the headstock... HMM gibson you suck.

  • @Macsk8ing Amen! :D

  • Great review but I've noticed that I can barely hear you when you speak so I have to turn it up until the guitar comes blasting back. What are you recording with and how do you set it up?

  • 0:01

  • The distorted tone is meh , but that might be the amp.

  • @ragrytakr or it could be the camera :P

  • @ksien90

    true ,true

  • :) i love his booth (and the guitar of course!)

  • what kind of music is this guitar appropriate for.

  • @olivamichael Everything!

  • Comment removed

  • I dont know this fella, can someone let me know who he is..seems some of you know already....

  • Fender are my favorites so i love this one !!!!!!!

  • TK, Is the maple fretboard really shiny and smooth? Is there much tone difference in the Maple and Rosewood fretboards? My USAStrat has a Maple but Tele's are more twangy by nature. Same with this one?

  • @hawg427 Google it. The answer is right there on the net so take one second and just google it.

  • I just wish it had been in tune ....it really sounds like the g string or the b ...is just a pinch flat .....

  • @gregorylee888 all of his freaking videos are out of tune

  • @gregorylee888

    IKR!

  • @ace69er he has been in his mum's basement

  • man great vid!!!!!!!!

  • thats the worst sounding guitar i've ever heard.., almost, Fender sure have gone to shit

  • Comment removed

  • @The81Ghost you are correct...g string is all out of whack

  • i hate telecasters, but this is a good review on the blacktop series. Thanks alot!

  • if i had the money this would probably be my next guitar, i played it at GC could hardly put it down!

  • this guy is cool!

  • Sorry Tone King... i have lost all faith in fender and gibson anymore. i prefer japanese made guitars anymore. japanese ibanez or japanese esp's not ltd's. the mexican fenders are alright but i dont like the play on words... like "American Select" fenders... meaning "mexican made fenders hand picked by americans to sell as american select" i have a buddy i use to work with who lives in ensenada who worked for fender... such a disappointing company anymore. so sad...

  • @kornelious1 I've actually been very pleased with my 2010 American Standard Telecaster. They made a number of changes in 2008 to the line, and I think they've been very positive. A very smooth, fast action. Great neck, good fretwork. I don't think you get Fender's best without getting the actual American-made stuff.

  • @kornelious1

Oh my god shut the fuck up, no one cares.

  • @CyborgTwinkee alright noob... if you want to pay the price for an american guitar for a mexican replica be my guest... frankly there is no mass produced guitar out there thats going to play as well as a custom shop guitar... but if you still want to be a noob you go right ahead and support mass produced guitars for the custom price... go for it genius.... just so you know people do care lol... idiot

  • @kornelious1

I was saying no one cares about what YOU play. So as I stated before, shut the fuck up. People will play guitars they want to play. If you're going to bitch about Fender products do it elsewhere. Not here you faggot.

  • @CyborgTwinkee lol... you need some riddlin son... cant hold a debate or conversation without losing your temper... do you think people take you intelligently when you can't speak intelligently? your a fine example of societies low income under educated population... i'm shocked you can log into youtube withought having to click the "forgot password link" your parents must be proud... maybe you need to listen to some barry mannilow to offset your anger.. or get some anger management... L O L ..

  • @kornelious1

I love how you try to make fun of my intelligence but you don't know how use "you're" properly. So you have no say in any matters of intelligence. I am not mad, you are posting hatred for Fender on a video reviewing a Fender product. And if you're so smart why are you slinging insults like a child? I wasn't trying to argue either, you just got butthurt by my first comment and now pick a fight. Fender is better than the shit brands you mentioned. Deal with it.

  • 4:48

    truly a regal tone

  • i dont like.. Old teles ftw

  • Tone king, you are awesome.. Thanks for the great gear demos :) theyre really helpful, and just interesting to watch. Rock on :D

  • since you show no sign of doing it, i got an axe-fx :P

  • What do you do for a living?!?

  • how would this be with a vox vt30!??

  • maybe it's the mic, don't know, but it's not my type of tone.

  • do all HHblacktops sound virtually the same?

  • NOT IMPRESSED. HOWEVER, I AM IMPRESSED BY THE GEAR AVAILABLE.

  • I dunno, but IMO a tele is not a tele with 2 humbuckers... my buddy has a G&L tele with 2 humbuckers and I told him the same thing. It is an awesome sounding guitar, but a tele is suppost to be a tele.

  • @NewOscarGuy don't worry ..they still make those too,

  • A Telecaster i do not dislike! Rather grab a Charvel San Dimas Type/Style 2 though

  • on 1:24 my jackson sounds exactly like that when the battery runs out

  • What is your favorite gear, ToneKing? What do u use in your band?

  • i wish i had the money to just buy a guitar like u. ive been saving for the blactop jazzmaster thats my dream guitar and fender finally made it i wish i had the dough to buy it now, but i gotta sell some gear in order for me to be even close :(

  • Finally i can have one of my favorite types of guitars and drop some emg's or blackouts in it.

  • @Hallman88 you should check out the Jim Root signature Tele... comes with EMGs already in it, plus its a Mahogany body I think. There's also a Strat version same spec

  • what the hell took Fender so long to make this guitar?? its awesome. inexpensive humbucker tele should be a no brainer.

  • cool man! nice demo for a nice guitar!

  • I highly recommend the Fender American Standard Telecaster. I was shocked by the quality of the guitar. The neck is a dream, the frets are finished superbly, and you can get a very low fast action. The FAST has wonderful tone and sustain, better than many set-neck/neck-through guitars I've tried. The electronics are of very good quality as well, and you can get some burning metal tones out of the treble pickup in conjunction with the tone knob. A Tone King review in the future, perhaps?

  • Well tone king, congratz... if you are reviewing any more valve amps, that's the kind of axe we need to hear to be aware of tone.. anyhow... if you got a les paul with p90 pickups that would be supreme, lol

Gratz for your new guitar, tottally rocks

  • wow really nice clean tones :O,awesome review as always :),greetings from your number one mexican fan haha :D,i always enjoy a lot chating with you on fb lol :)

  • That's a hot looking guitar... beefy tones.... BTW I'm digging the changing color lights! Cheers bro.

  • Fine looking piece of gear there. Good choice on the maple fretboard! Sounds pretty nice through that marshall too! Really dig those riffs at the end of the video!

  • i cant wait to get my tele man

  • these are a HELLUVA deal for $450 - totally kickass. I'd want a black one with a maple fretboard... I used to have a Tele, but it was with the standard single coils.

  • the guitar really sings

  • strings that go though the body, what does that do to the sound, compared to the other types

  • @kaleluk31 increased sustain, supposedly.

  • sounds great, but what does it sound like clean?

  • Finally the video of the Blacktop series. Hot sounding guitar. I would have to get the Red one. I do like the Strat headstockbetter on the Telecaster Deluxe better but not almost $200 better. LOL Great video.

  • sounds way better than expected but i still prefer my teles with single coils :)

  • man a great video!!!! love all of your vids! rock on...

  • built one like that but with emg;s xD ahaha and i have the inverted control plate too xD

  • @H3lloSE that sounds badass

  • r theres mim or miusa?

  • i want this guitar... but a already have my custom tele so yea... but sounds awesome! i might put s Humbucker in my tele

  • I think these guitars are a great value as some of Fender's most innexpensive offerings. Thanks TTK for the demo.

  • I bought one to try out at the beginning of the month, but I did ultimately take it back. Sexy black tele with rosewood board. Well made, felt great-- no complaints on that front. But, the neck pickup was real muddy and the bridge pickup is a little weaker than I'd like. If I had felt like making the extra investment to changing the pups, I would have kept it-- but such was not the case right now. Still, for the current price, it's a really nice guitar.

  • sounds muddy as fuck, terrible. maybe with a pickup change it sounds good, but those things are garbage

  • your signature riff sounds good on clean

  • ive never hated a tele before :(

  • where are you getting all this hear from????!!?!? sorry new to the channel.

  • that sounds [insert random tourettes outburst] awesome!! Nice sound on the amp too! Those blueslicks ... mhmm.. like the guitar begs you to play with it .. ok, sounded a bit wierd, but you know what i mean ;)

  • NOOOOO! That ruddy tune again! he he

  • Great sounding AXE!!!!!!! Im kinda in the Fenders are supose to be single coil camp but I preffer to use humbuckers so this would deffenately get me to put one of these in my arsenal! I love the old single coil ones too they just arent as suited for how I usually play.

  • amp knobs on a guitar? I don't like it:(

  • @rockexpert

They're called witch hat knobs. You can change them to the standard metal ones if you want, they're pretty cheap.

  • id rather have the arm carve than the contour in the back.

  • cost a bomb man :(

  • i dnt think teles or strats shud have humbuckers, they r the kings of single coils :P

  • @gunsnflamethrowers Gees WHERE have YOU been since 1972??
