first the rinengan is more powerful but nagato was acting controlled by orochimaru, it was 3 on one and they used chibaku tensei against itself... nagato alone vs naruto alone or bee alone or itachi alone it's a nagato win situation.. well, mabe not for itachi, we will never know, but the point of the battle was to show how much naruto had grown and how powerful itachi is... not how weak nagato is... although it was WAY to short a battle :/

itachi owns all of pain's summons with KNIVES. no ninjutsu, just sheer speed and skill. then he one-hits pein. He didn't exactly look strained or panicked when pain started to do the moon thing either. So i'm willing to bet he'd have found a way to handle it. Remember that against sasuke itachi was A. not trying to win and sacrificed many chances to do so in order to kill orochimaru and B. extremely sick. no one can beat him but madara.

when they're as stupid as naruto and bee? yes. bee insisted on close range combat against kasame!the first time naruto showed any real skill was against pein. if he wasn't the main protaganist he wouldn't have won a fight before then. since then he's showed skill but also that some bone headed tendency to rush into battle without a plan. he did that against revived nagato. just jumped in as if he didn'[t know pain's abilities and made pein stronger.

@waldoman7 The point is that I bet that pain stronger is then itachi is because of his feats. Itachi had won because he had the sword of totsuka, an extremely powerfull sword wich is not a an ability he has from himself.

And It's because of Naruto, Bee & Itachi's combined attack that his attack was stopped and turned into smoke, with the only chance to stop him. They al defently had a roll in this fight.

even without the sword, susanoo is inpenatrable and too fast to dodge and amaterasu burns all. I imagine amaterasu would have worked on the moon. I mean it can burn fire and water, so clearly it's something of a divine attack and is probably on par with pein's divine attacks. it might be possible that it burns through the jutsu absorber.

and of course, fact is that he has the sword and isn't likely to loose it, so it's effectively his strength.

@waldoman7 It's defently strong. But Susanoo askes for an extreme amount of chakra so It's only a mather of time. And the fact that deva path is able to fly makes him hard to hit. As for amaterasu. It seems that pain is able to deflect it with a shinra tensei. I admit that Itachi is a smarter fighter. But deva path's attack are long distance attacks seeing what he did with konoha. Fire balls are not gonna work since the other path simply absorbs it. He could have done same thing on this battle.

look, itachi just has him beaten on sheer skill. he's too smart, and too FAST. he'd have a knife in pein's back before pein knew he was there, which sort of negates shinra tensai. susanoo's attack is even faster than itachi. Susasnoo asks for a lot of chakra you say, and yet he was able to use it after an extended battle with sasuke which began with him on the brink of death.

And that's the diffrence in strength they have. He needed one shinra tensei to blast away 3 giant toads. There's no kunai that's gonna work that strong on these toads. Whats speed & skill gonna do when Itachi stand 2 km away from him while Pein is about to blow up the city?

well if pein had the drop on him it might be a bit different, but the situation at hand has the battle begining in close quarters, and you saw what happened. naruto and bee threw a few attacks that did nothing. naruto gave pein chakra. . naruto and bee helped destroy the gravity attack, thus saving itachi from having to use amaterasu(insignificant). Then itachi effortlessly owned all of pein's summons and pein himself in an instant.

its very simple... a japanese person will not pronounce 'pain' the conventional English way because that is not how you phonetically pronounce it in Japanese. They would pronounce 'pain'（パイン) as 'pah-in' . To write it phonetically so a japanese speaker will pronounce it the English way would be Pein or ペイン. Both are correct.

It can be spelled either way. It is meant to be PAIN in english, as obvious symbolism to the character's past. However, it would have to be writtin PEIN in katakana for the japanese to pronounce it properly. Both spellings have been used to much it doesn't really matter now anyway, everyone knows who the names refer to.
