Hey, have you played the newly released SotC for the PS3? :) Dormin looks really awesome in HD! Probably one of the things I liked most with the HD Collection!
@therooom Dormin was never known as an evil ruler. He was merely a god of shadows that peacefully ruled the forbidden lands. Those evil people believed him to be evil merely by his apearence and thus sealed him away. They also killed that woman at the beginning because they believed her to be cursed.
In the artbook Ueda said Dormin was a menacing being. The land is also filled with light magic relics, which opposes Dormin. Why would Dormin, a dark being, rule over a land of light magic?
Mono was killed for having a cursed fate. Look what ended up happening in SotC...

If you look at the desert there are rings scattered and broken. These were the same type created by the Castle's people in ICO. It would stand to reason that if the light magic relics were created after Dormin's imprisonment, then these rings would be fairly "new". They also weren't used for imprisonment, but for channeling light magic, so the light magic relics were not all used for containing..

However Dormin did preside within the forbidden lands before and as a god it is reasonable to assume that he ruled the lands he presided in. The game itself draws heavily on middle eastern cultures (many of which believe horns to be a sign of divinity). Also to say that Dormin is opposed by the light is very questionable as well as the introduction to the game lets on that Dormin was able to

The story to shadow of the colossus is very well executed in a way that not much is entirely explained and left to much speculation. To follow a games plot through the gamebook or artbook and keep up with it entirely is a heavy task as you have to pile on more information you learn as you progress wich most of the time either emphasizes or takes away from

i think the only way to get an alternate ending is to escape the temple after dormin then climb the shrine of worship, then jump through the hole to fall in the main room, die, then get sucked in for a "Not being reborn, just dead" ending.

@RockinMetalGuy: It's because Dormin was slowed down by Wander's injuries. If you look carefully, Dormin is limping around and dragging his left leg (or right?). This is because Wander was shot with an arrow on his left (right?) leg right before he became Dormin.
Either way Dormin still managed to escape the Forbidden Lands in the form of the horned children.
@BHaustrin He means how each generation of horned children came to be. Wander reborn was the first. ICO is his descendant. ICO takes place thousands of years after Shadow of the colossus.
No, there are only fruits that you can shoot out of the tree - strangely, these fruits take away points from your stamina bar. So, if you eat to many, you won't be able to get back up again.
Also, if you go into the main room, the room with Mono, and look up, you can see light coming in through a hole in the roof. Up there is the garden, and you can fall down through that hole and die.
There are invisible walls that keep you from leaving onto the field, before and after the sword goes into the pool - how do I know? I spent ten minutes painfully minijumping wander away from the sucking pool to the altar. I thought I could escape, but the bastards made barriers. Woulda been cool to get out, climb to the bridge, and go postal on Emon and his men.
it's the x button that makes him breathe fire but it takes a while to recharge, if you time it right for the film sequence when they enter the pool you see it shooting from his face
@aluevius wow i just tested it again square does nothing and circle does rightarm slam. There is a bug where you can survive as dormin for longer than you attention span. once u kill the 16th, press skip. You will get instant control of dormin. Now, turn left (not back on the stick, LEFT) until you are facing the pool) Now run and keep tothe right. @the end of hall press and hold triangle+r1 to crouch, facing pool. 2 soldiers will escape but emon and 3 others will be trapped in ur right armpit!!

Well I mean Emon just walks in circles, then has his men fire at you, and repeats. Since by the time I get to dormin I have full health, it takes me 15 minutes of holding r1+tri for my health to fall to half. My fingers can't take that, so I end up just letting them go. If you time it right, you can work a slam into the sequence where they enter the pool room and they will still fall! Fun, I must try sometime to see what happens if they get around to reducing dormin's health to zero....
It's a shame the makers of the game made it feel like you could change the ending with this sequence, because people come op with bullshit comments like that
They're people from his village, with Emon being a spiritual leader. The general sense is that Emon is both the one who told Wander about the Forbidden Land and the one who sacrificed the girl. Dormin, for its part, had integrity to keep its word. Without the Ancient Sword though... the shadow beings may have tried to kill Wander.
The Controls for Dormin: Square is triple-foot stamp, X is acid breath, Circle is the right-arm slam attack, Triangle is some kind of hover. It amazes me that they coded in humans and dormin and all that, and you only get 30-60 seconds....
@ConzultheGreat That's not quite right, square does the right-arm slam attack and circle doesn't do anything. Triangle is jump. R1 to crouch so you can hit the guys with the acid breath. They don't burn, they just fall over but it works!

someone needs to find a glitch at the end where you can escape the shrine of worship being dormin. Also, someone needs to find the same glitch at the end when you're being sucked into the vortex and you escape the temple. It would be kind of weird if after you escaped you went around the temple and climbed the ivy to the top while the vortex is still going, and then you meet up with the people and the old man at the top of the bridge. Then you slice them with your sword and kill them.
@salasvalor01 it IS possible to stay away from the pool. All you need to do is keep moving while you constantly tap triangle. You can slowly move forward as long as you want, but sadly, about halfway trough the shrine, there is an invisible wall.
@salasvalor01 i found the glitch you have jump form side to side when the vortex stops for 5 secs. but my gamer fingers hurt so bad that i gave my sister the controller and we keep switching back and forth as fast as we can and we made it to the girlfriend and nothing happen!! he just stood there! it pissed us off.:D
It was cool to play as him. But I have to say how awesome it would have been if Dormin had won that battle against the guards and then we get to roam around the land as a giant colossus.
You can't play as Dormin any longer than about a minute at a time. What I did was save the game at the last save shrine before the final colossus, then you can just beat it, skip part of the ending by pressing start and play as Dormin again any time.
As Dormin is rocking back and forth while nodding his head he is pretty much telling the priest and the guardsmen "Okay....You Guys Are FUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!" LMFAO XD. GO DORMIN!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont think you can kill them. Me and my friend always try to kill every guy in there but all that happens is that they simply fall down then get back up.
All of Team ICO's projects are related. Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to ICO. In the end of SotC, the "Wonderer" as he is called is reborn as the cursed boy with horns, thanks to Dormin.
I'm not sure how The Last Guardian will tie in but we'll see.
I know what you mean. Each game they makes just gets better and better. They are all masterpieces! First ICO, then Shadow of the Colossus, and now The Last Guardian! And you have to admit, the boy looks similar to ICO and Wanderer in a few ways. It's tough to say how he will relate...but in all, their new game looks to be a beautiful story...as usual... > . >

You do know the main character had horns when you start the game right? you have to look very carefully and you have to get a camera angle up frecken close to the side of his head. so he had them already.
The ending was fucked up. the protagonist is affected by the shadows that end up controlling him and turning him into Dormin, causing his fall as human. In the end, he was able to save the girl he loved, but instead of dying, he was reborn. He gave everything to see the girl live, but was forced to not share the success of it. Instead, he was forced back into life as a baby with the mark (demon horns). Really great ending, but was so fucked up had me all depressed and shit.
i think that every consoles has some awesome game that are exclusive to themselves like on gamecube mario party 4,5,6,7 i think mario sunshine and luigi mansion/ super smash brothers melle, ps2 shadow of the colussus,ico kindom hearts 1 and 2, sly cooper and the thing and eyetoy, gran turismo 3/4, xbox halo, project gotham, blinks, ds pokemon whatever it is every console would have some great and some crap games thank you.
Question: Is that what Wander becomes after he kills the 16th?

They're people from his village, with Emon being a spiritual leader. The general sense is that Emon is both the one who told Wander about the Forbidden Land and the one who sacrificed the girl. Dormin, for its part, had integrity to keep its word. Without the Ancient Sword though... the shadow beings may have tried to kill Wander.

The Controls for Dormin: Square is triple-foot stamp, X is acid breath, Circle is the right-arm slam attack, Triangle is some kind of hover. It amazes me that they coded in humans and dormin and all that, and you only get 30-60 seconds....

@ConzultheGreat That's not quite right, square does the right-arm slam attack and circle doesn't do anything. Triangle is jump. R1 to crouch so you can hit the guys with the acid breath. They don't burn, they just fall over but it works!

someone needs to find a glitch at the end where you can escape the shrine of worship being dormin. Also, someone needs to find the same glitch at the end when you're being sucked into the vortex and you escape the temple. It would be kind of weird if after you escaped you went around the temple and climbed the ivy to the top while the vortex is still going, and then you meet up with the people and the old man at the top of the bridge. Then you slice them with your sword and kill them.

@salasvalor01 it IS possible to stay away from the pool. All you need to do is keep moving while you constantly tap triangle. You can slowly move forward as long as you want, but sadly, about halfway trough the shrine, there is an invisible wall.

@salasvalor01 i found the glitch you have jump form side to side when the vortex stops for 5 secs. but my gamer fingers hurt so bad that i gave my sister the controller and we keep switching back and forth as fast as we can and we made it to the girlfriend and nothing happen!! he just stood there! it pissed us off.:D

It was cool to play as him. But I have to say how awesome it would have been if Dormin had won that battle against the guards and then we get to roam around the land as a giant colossus.

You can't play as Dormin any longer than about a minute at a time. What I did was save the game at the last save shrine before the final colossus, then you can just beat it, skip part of the ending by pressing start and play as Dormin again any time.

All of Team ICO's projects are related. Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to ICO. In the end of SotC, the "Wonderer" as he is called is reborn as the cursed boy with horns, thanks to Dormin.
I'm not sure how The Last Guardian will tie in but we'll see.

I know what you mean. Each game they makes just gets better and better. They are all masterpieces! First ICO, then Shadow of the Colossus, and now The Last Guardian! And you have to admit, the boy looks similar to ICO and Wanderer in a few ways. It's tough to say how he will relate...but in all, their new game looks to be a beautiful story...as usual... > . >

You do know the main character had horns when you start the game right? you have to look very carefully and you have to get a camera angle up frecken close to the side of his head. so he had them already.

The ending was fucked up. the protagonist is affected by the shadows that end up controlling him and turning him into Dormin, causing his fall as human. In the end, he was able to save the girl he loved, but instead of dying, he was reborn. He gave everything to see the girl live, but was forced to not share the success of it. Instead, he was forced back into life as a baby with the mark (demon horns). Really great ending, but was so fucked up had me all depressed and shit.

i think that every consoles has some awesome game that are exclusive to themselves like on gamecube mario party 4,5,6,7 i think mario sunshine and luigi mansion/ super smash brothers melle, ps2 shadow of the colussus,ico kindom hearts 1 and 2, sly cooper and the thing and eyetoy, gran turismo 3/4, xbox halo, project gotham, blinks, ds pokemon whatever it is every console would have some great and some crap games thank you.
